Silver leaves the cabin and returns a few minutes later. "Your friends traded the stockade and the map for their lives. They don't care what happens to you.""He and the rest of his friends gave up on you. These waters aren't safe for swimming.You meet the Doctor on the stairs. He looks very concerned He says,he repeats, "The situation with the crew is very dangerous. The Squire, Captain, and I are below deck planning our defense. We must figure out a way to spy on the mutineers. Be careful, and stay out of trouble." He disappears below deck. You return to the foredeck."Have a nice stay on board, Jim", says Silver. "I'd take you with us to shore, but me and the crew have some important matters to discuss." You return to the foredeck where preparation for the landing is going on.You see a sailor already up in the crow's nest and realize that there's not room enough for both of you. You climb back down.You slip down the ladder without anyone noticing, and hide under the crawlspace near the bow of the landing boat. Just as you're getting comfortable, the crew casts off and rows to shore.You overhear two of the crew who are getting ready to go ashore. "I packed up the landing boat, mate. We still have plenty of room in the crawlspace near the bow of the boat."I've been to this island before Jim. There are countless places to hide a treasure. Luckily, we have the map.The Hispaniola's landing boats can carry several men ashore and still have plenty of extra storage room near the bow.I've sailed with some of these lads before.
