Modem facts and fun, telecommunications programs galore, and more are all found here. You have before you one category description from the complete Suzy B's Software two volume CD of Public Domain/Shareware/demo software. Complete, that is, as of March, 1995. But we don't quit, and you don't either! Hundreds of programs are being released each month, and if you want them, you'll find that we have them. We began as the PD distribution company with "the honey of a deal" and we mean to continue to bring that to you. See below for more information about Suzy B's! With Suzy B's Software you get to choose which programs and files you want! No more of just getting one program you want and then a bunch of other stuff that the PD company wants to give you to fill up the disk. With Suzy B's Software you get to fill up your disk the way you want! You choose as many files, and as many different kinds of files from our catalog that will fit on a 720K disk (or a 355K single-sided disk). Place your order, and we will custom build you disk for you and send it off! All of our files are self-extracting compressed files (except the very small files for which it would be inefficient to use a self-extracting format--those are uncompressed). Each disk costs $5 for a single-sided disk or just $2 more for a double-sided disk. If you order 4 disks you get the fifth one FREE! Where else can you get compressed files, double-sided disks, your own choice of files, and such a low price? No where else! We don't sell you software; we sell you service. We want your business, and so we at Suzy B's Software are committed to giving you "a Honey of a Deal"! March. 1995 Catalog The "CD Issue 2" Suzy B's Software 3712 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY 14305 716-298-1986 1291BBSm is the December 1991 BBS REPORT of Atari 8-bit/ST Bulletin Board System Listings edited by Lawrence Estep. If you want to call an Atari BBS you can find a lot of them here! 1STBSDMOm is a Public Domain version of 1ST Base BBS from 1ST Base Software. This demo version has all the serial port functions removed and therefore will not answer the phone, but will give the user a good idea of what the BBS is like. Color or mono. 3D_TTTm by Steven T. Murphy is a game that must be played using a modem or a null-modem cable. It's 3-D Tic Tac Toe. You not only can play the game, but you can raz each other! Color or mono. Documentation included. SHAREWARE. 9600LIm is "A Comparison of High Speed Modems: Compatibility/Features/ Differences/Prices, Including: HST, V.32, V.32bis, V.42, V.42bis" by Mike Ehlert. Are you thinking of going to a High speed modem? 2400 bps can be very slow for transferring large files. Modems advertised as 4800 are really only 2400 with data compression such as MNP-5 or even just software data compression. There are now some new 2400 BPS modems with V.42bis, which claim 9600 bps Thruput. Don't be fooled. A 2400 bps modem with error correction will NOT be significantly faster when transferring compressed files such as ZIPs. An actual 9600 BPS or faster modem will make a tremendous difference in your transfer time. Most 9600 BPS users never want to go back to 2400. There is a lot of confusion and mis-information about 9600 bps and faster Modems. This article was written this to help clarify and point out the differences between the different modems available. 9600MODMm is a text file that tells you everything you always wanted to know about 9600 baud modems (are they wonderful!). ACCNT2_Um is Accountant v.2.0 by Mindbomb Developments (dated Sept. 1993). This is a TripLinK! FEDBBS utility that will display TripLinK! v.4 through v.7.1 users account information onscreen. Accountant will display for you the useful information you want displayed, and not the "junk" you don't want. It does it in it's own sometimes polite, sometimes sarcastic, and always interesting way! Accountant now supports ANSI/VT52 graphics coding as well as ASCII. This version now includes SABRe, a spoof of the "Word-Power" tags found on some boards. It gives you it's own special dafinitons. Some other improvements and bugs fixes as well. At least STE compatible. Docs included. Shareware (free registration to Delphi users!). AC_16m is AUTO CRUNCH v1.6 by Mark J. Matts. It is a QuickBBS ST utility that will automatically join all your FILES.BBS's as one large file, normally known as a MASTER FILE LIST. This file can then be packed using standard archiving formats, it supports LZH, ARC & ZIP. It will also allow you to create a separate "new files" list that lists files received in the past X days, where X is specified in the parameters given to Auto Crunch. AFL_90m is Axolotl Football League, v.8.8 (dated March 19, 1991) by D. Nelson. This is an online BBS football game with up to 28 teams playing in the league. This will work with Forem, BBS Express, Starnet or almost most any ST board having game doors. If your BBS doesn't have much game activity the perhaps WLAF_20 is for you. That game is a scaled down version of AFL_90 which allows 10 teams which fill up faster on a small board and still provides lots of challenge. This individual caller coaches his or her team, and trys to take the team all the way to the Axolotl Bowl. The game is easy to set up, challenging to play and fun! Color or mono. Docs included. SHAREWARE. AIRDEF36m is Air Defense v.3.6 by Darel Schartman. This BBS game, written for FoReM BBS systems, but playable on compatible BBS's as well, is a game of attack and defense. You are the Commanding General of your country's Air Force. Using the resources of your country (Factories, Cities, and Bases) you purchase planes which you use to destroy the resources of enemy countries. Of course, they are trying to do the same to you so you must defend with all the tools at your desposal. Multiple players allowed, alliances may be formed (and broken). This is a _slightly_ crippled version in that you can't check the high scores and send diplomatic messages. Register ($10) and get the key to take care of that. Docs included. ALADSH03m is Aladshow v.0.3 by Thomas A. Wrather (Jan. 30, 1993). This program will allows you to view and search through the files that Aladdin, the GEnie online automated front-end Do-It-All program, stores as its "Main List" of files under the "Library" drop-down menu. You can have your default data files automatically loaded when you boot up, print out your selected files, abort a search in mid-stream, and more. TOS 1.0--3.06 compatible. Color or mono. Hard drive recommended. Also, if you don't use Aladdin on GEnie, this won't help much! ALAD_MANm contains a Calamus 1.09N .CDK and replica system font that will allow you to view and/or print out (if you have Calamus--it's worth it to get it!) a 12 page illustrated tutorial for configuring and using Aladdin, the GEnie on-line navigator. It's not the whole manual, that's available elsewhere, but it's a start for beginners. 280K uncompressed. ALLPARAMm is a Stalker 3 .BTS script v.3 by Bob Morrow (dated Feb. 15, 1993). This scipt will allow allow all of the autodialer, modem init. strings, function key settings, word length, baud rate, flow control settings, etc. information to be printed out or copied to the screen. ANSI190Bm is ANSITerm v.1.90 by Sean Dougherty and Timothy Miller (dated Feb, 1993). - ANSITerm is a 100% ANSI VT-102 compatible terminal program that supports full 16 colors, blinking text, with 80 columns. - Supports X-modem, Y-modem, and Z-modem transfers (using XYZ.TTP) - Full mouse support and menu bars - AutoDialer with separate options (line-feeds, local echo, etc.) for every entry. Capture buffer with the ability to send and print selected blocks Selectable color palettes New intelligent memory saving techniques View Buffer and block functions Auto Z-modem Download and Upload Ten 79-character global macros Upload/Download paths can be set along with the path of XYZ.TTP Better compatibility with Warp 9 Properly supports VT-100 tabs Supports Y-modem G with Alan Hamilton's XYZ 2.02 Buffer viewer now has PRIMITIVE editing capabilities and displays text 4 times faster 57600 bps MIGHT work on an Atari TT Terminal displays text at least 2 times faster Font editor included. And finally, a few bug fixes over v. 1.80. SHAREWARE. If you use a modem you owe it to yourself to check this one out! Docs included. Color only. ANSICODEm is a series of text files and ANSI drawings giving information and examples about VT100 codes of use to SysOps and programmers. This began life on an MS/DOS board as the text file discusses running .EXE files and typing DOS commands, etc. ANSICOLRm is a 6x7 GDOS monospaced font by Tim Seufert. It is intended for use with STalker 3.x. (But you can of course use it for almost any purpose - it's just that it's mainly of use as a terminal program font.) This font allows you to use STalker in medium resolution and have it display a full screen's worth of text (80x24) in a window. Docs for installing it into STalker are included. ANSIFONTm is a new and improved ANSI character set for ANSIterm-1.90 by Tom D'Ambrosio. This file improves the appearance of many characters and also fixes some to meet ANSI standards. If you use ANSIterm, then this file is for you! Docs included. ANSIST40m is ANSI-ST v.0.40 by Mark Matts (dated May 7, 1994). Once installed in your auto folder this small program will give your machine ANSI screen output whilst maintaining VT52 compatibility. Any (non- windowing) programs which use TOS screen output will now be able to emulate ANSI, and not just those whose programmers specifically included such support! Even the ST Desktop show option (for viewing raw ANSI files), Vanterm, Teddy Term, and Ratsoft BBS can now support ANSI BBS's....! You can switch the ANSI emulation on or off using the included utility programs or from within your own program! Docs included. ST-Falcon. Color or mono. Since ST medium res only uses four colors this program uses Bold, underlined, and other variations on the available colors to mimic the full 16 colors ANSI has available (v.4.0 does an even better job of this than v.3.0 did by using a creative method of manipulating fonts. ANSI underline is now also supported.). This ANSI mimic even extends to ST mono screens as well). Shareware. ANSIUTILm is a series of four ANSI related programs and a mono emulator that will prove very helpful to you if you wish to call out on your modem and use ANSI graphics on your ST. Compiled by Andy MacCallum these programs are: The Text Screen Editor v.2.1 by Damien M. Jones (dated July 17, 1990) is a program is useful anytime you need to create a text screen. It allows you a flexible method for adding color to old text screens and for making new ones. You can use this to make screens for a BBS, but anywhere one screen of colorful (or plain and drab) text is needed, this program comes in handy. This program does NOT handle animation! It produces text files that start in the upper left corner and proceed to the bottom of the screen. The only difference between its files and normal ASCII files is the VT52 color control sequences that are automatically inserted for you. Color only. Docs included. STe compatible. NoPro, is an ANSI Animation program by Stefan Zimmer v.1.1 (dated 1991). With this program's help you can create ANSI animations. The program is in English, but the docs are in German. Mono only. This file contains CHICFONT, a program that changes the system font to the Chicfont, and a VT100 emulator, both of which must be installed for the program to operate correctly. SHAREWARE (hey, remember to support Shareware authors even if they live far away, OK?) Qansi v.1.0, is a program that converts Quick BBS ST VT-52 to ANSI. It also has an excellent doc file describing just what the ANSI standard is and how Quick BBS ST implements it so you can see all of those neat online ANSI graphics. Color or mono. STe compatible. Captain's ANSIpaint v.1.0 by Dirk Hoeschen is a program will allow you to "paint" ANSI logos with an IBM-Character-set so that you can use them in any ANSI based program. This has a very nice interface and is easy to use and save/load your files. Works on my STe (though I have to disable UIS 3.2 for it not to crash when I try to load or save any work). Mono only. Docs included. Sebra by Patrik Persson is one of the best (if not the best) mono emulators available. I have cataloged this elsewhere in the UTILITYS category. If you have a color monitor, GET THIS. (that's simpler than reviewing it again and saying more words but the same thing!). AREA_MGR is Areamanager version 1.3 by Erno Meffert (12-1991). Area- manager is written to enable nodes and points to connect and disconnect different echomail areas at their uplink. It works by means of a simple netmail message to Areamanager at their boss' or hub's system. Docs included. ARKCON17m is Arkade Controller v.1.7 by Lee Offenberger. This program for use with Express ST BBS 1.72 or higher controls sending FoReM BBS files to games, command lines, data file creation, doc file viewing, game file viewing, utility programs for games and more. The set-up for this program is very simple--just a simple script file. Docs included. Shareware. ASN151m is Assassin v.1.51 by Kevin Macfarland & Wayne Myers (dated April 19, 1991). This BBS doors game is an online role-playing game that takes place in a time similar to the dark ages, where assassins work to make their fortune. ASSASSIN can currently be played on Turbo/FoReM/ Express/STar-Net/& other BBS's. You, as a player, learn the rules of the "game" through Assassin's school, visiting the local guild headquarters, the Tavern, etc.. You fight to gain experience, gold, and the control of your own guild as you try to become the most powerful assassin in the city. As the game progresses you will learn of other missions to complete. Shareware (I can't see anywhere how it is "crippled" but you get a "key" when you register, so I imagine it is somehow). Docs included. ATARIBBSm is the August 1992 issue of the BBS Report by Lawrence Estep. It is a listing of all known (to him!) Atari BBS across the country. ATARIINTm is a very interesting introduction to InterNet. It is designed to "to help keep ya from becoming roadkill on the information highway :-)" by RJA (Dated Feb. 15, 1993). It contains a glossary of InterNet terms, a list of various FTP sites with Atari files; there is also a short description of how to use FTP (for those with the access to InterNet file transfer tool). Also it contains a listing of most of the files from the Atari section of the FTP site "atari.archive.umich.edu." Finally, there is an example session of using one of the "Archie" internet databases, doing a scan on the word "Atari." Both GEnie and Delphi allow InterNet access (GEnie with mail and Delphi with both mail and file transfers). You might also contact a local college or university about getting public access through them. ATARINETm is a series of text files that describe AtariNet. AtariNet is a Fido-compatible network supporting Atari computers. AtariNet sysops include Bob Brodie & Ron Kovacs and many software authors. This package is an AtariNet starter kit, containing all the information about AtariNet you should need, and an application for becoming a member. Useful only if you are a SysOp of your own BBS. ATASCIEDm is the ATASCII Editor v.1.0 by Harry Sarber. It is a static screen editor used to make ATASCII menu screens for FoReM or StarNet BBS. It is a program that can be run from the Desktop, a CLI, or from within another program that supports running external programs (one like Flash). Almost all the ATASCII commands are supported except for the Escape and the Control+M (the program thinks it's a carriage return). Docs included as well as in the program. Color only. SHAREWARE. AUTOCAPm is the Auto-Capture for the Atari ST, an "Essential Utility For Every Modem User" v.1.0 by Stuart Coates (dated Jan 5, 1992). Have you ever logged onto a bulletin board, listed all of your email and then remembered that you hadn't switched on your capture buffer - an expensive mistake with todays high telephone charges. Auto-Capture is a small utility that sits in your AUTO folder and loads when you boot your machine. Auto-Capture will intercept all data that comes into your machine via the serial (RS232) port and write it to a disk file before passing it transparently to your communications program, this ensures that all data you see will be stored for later use. Color or mono. SHAREWARE. AUTOFM12m is the Auto FileMover v.1.2 by M.J.Matts, Auto FileMover is, as the name suggests, an automatic file mover. The program will move/copy files older than any number of days you want.. There are three ways to control the 'age' limit.. 1) via a config file; 2) via a commandline, and 3) using the default of 31 days. Can be used for loading RAM disks with often used files, backing up important files to disks, and other such uses. Now includes the ability to "kill" files after a certain amount of time. This is especially useful for those programs that create a TRASH directory for deletes. Docs included. AUTOPASSm is a STalker BackTalk script (.BTS) from Erik Williams of SunFox Productions (dated June 26, 1992). It will allow you to get an "autopass" in which the script will automatically download a new QWK file and upload a REP file (if it exists) in one pass or just upload a REP file for MaxiDoor. This file is neat in that it further automates an already automated process! It saves you time on time! Docs and source code included. STalker 3.02 and BackTalk 1.02 are required. PostCardWare. A_D_WEEDm is The Aladdin .DAT file Weeder by myeck waters (dated May 13, 1994). This is a utility that allows you to search through the .DAT files created by Aladdin, the GEnie front-end/offline-reader/file- downloader/bottle-washer etc., and manually eliminate unwanted files. This will save you lots of time (in the end) and lots of disk space (you can eliminate all the want ads and other files you never want to see again). You need an ST and a color or mono monitor (at least some Graphics cards as well) to use this program. Mouse or keyboard controlled. Docs included. Once you are done picking and choosing, you can save the file. The .DAT Weeder will not save a file that has all or no entries deleted. Geneva compatible. Gift Of Time-Ware. Oh, you have to have ST Aladdin (v.1.62 or higher? recommended) and GEnie access to make any reasonable use of this file, but that's no hardship as GEnie is a pretty neat service to be on! BACKGAMMm is an online backgammon game that lets you play over the phone lines with a friend and a modem, by yourself with your ST, or setup custom games. Mono only. Docs included. By David Becker. BAT103m is BatSoftware's 80 column VT100 emulator v.1.03 (dated 1994). It is written in MC68000 assembly language and is very fast. It now features XMODEM and display codes. A real-time clock and timer are available onscreen. You can easily select screen colors or use the pre-set screen colors (hint: use the arrow keys to make selections). Only 80 column mode is supported, thus no double width or length characters are supported. The F1 key toggles XON/OFF. The emulator supports serial port rates of up to 19,200 baud, and can almost keep up at 9600 baud making it the fastest one available (or so I've been told). It has been suggested that you set your comm size to 8-1-N for XMODEM transfers and then reset it to 7-1-E for other work. Medium res. only. BATFAXVEm is BatFAXVe v.1.00 from BATSoftware (dated 1994). This is an .ACC by which will allow you to display STraightFAX FAX files on an STE medium res system using the STE horizontal and vertical video scrolling hardware. You scroll throught the document using your mouse without having to use the "View" feature of STraightFAX (it works great!). Docs included. If you have STraightFAX I recommend this to you. BBSX9405m is an ASCII text listing of the current (as of May, 1994) BBS Express! ST BBS's available for you to call. Included in this file is information about the connect speeds available, times when the board is up, connections with other systems, and of course, the phone numbers! This is an excellent service that C&R Systems provides to all Atari users. Thanks! BBSXDEMOm is a demo of BBS Express! ST v. 1.79c from C&R Systems (dated March 1, 1993). This is a single line, full-featured BBS that supports transfer rates up to 14.4 baud. It is fully functioning, with ALL of it's features fully enabled except that you can't call in or out with it (hey, it's a DEMO!), and most of the support programs are not included (it's normally shipped on 3 disks with over 1.5 meg of files). Run from Drive D (it takes up about 850K). Docs included. If you are thinking about running a BBS, this looks like a good program to check out! Color or mono. This program will run from any ST--TT (even a 512K ST!) with a floppy or Hard Drive (why would you operate a BBS with a floppy?). This file is NOT in a self-extracting format. I chose to do it this way for various reasons (i.e.: I couldn't get it to work in a self-extracting format!, plus it uncompresses to more than a floppy can handle). I'll let you handle it this time! Use any LH5 compatible utility to uncompress (for example LZH201LE in our UTILITYS category). BERM100Sm is BERMUDA, The Fidonet compatible mailprocessor by Jac Kersing. Bermuda is a set of programs for processing Fidonet style messages. It uses an own messagebase format to store message. This format is know as 'Pandora/The Box' format or is sometimes referred to as 'QuickBBS' message base. Bermuda was developed for The Box mailer, but it can be used with other mailers too (e.g. Binkley ST). BFEST115m is Bludfest v.1.15 by Darren Semotiuk (dated March 12, 1991). The online doors BBS game (for FoReM or any compatible BBS) is a monster fighting, spell casting, weapon wielding game for multiple parties online. Work your way through the mazes and survive! The author has included lots of humorous features in this game as well. Maze and configuration editor included. 337K uncompressed. BIGDUMMYm is the Big Dummy's Guide to the Internet by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (dated July 15, 1993). Supported by Apple Computer, Adam Gaffin was hired to write this guide. The idea was to write a guide to the Internet for folks who had little or no experience with network communications--and then to give it away! And that they did! This book (399K uncompressed) will help you to use the Net to: = Stay in touch with friends, relatives and colleagues around the world, at a fraction of the cost of phone calls or even air mail. = Discuss everything from archaeology to zoology with people from around the world. = Tap into hundreds of information databases and libraries worldwide. = Retrieve any of thousands of documents, journals, books and computer programs. = Stay up to date with wire-service news and sports, and government weather reports. = Play live, "real time" games with dozens of other people at once. And much, much more! Excellent! I found this on the CodeHead BBS. BINKLEYTm is BinkleyTerm v.2.40b originally by Vince Perriello and Bob Hartman of Bit Bucket Software, Co, it has been ported to the ST by Steven Green. It is "A Freely Available FidoNet Compatible Electronic Mail Interface and Dumb Terminal Package." BinkleyTerm is an advanced, state-of-the-art telecommunications tool. It is primarily designed for the semi-automated sending and receiving of electronic mail and files within FidoNet-compatible electronic mail networks. When used as a dumb terminal, BinkleyTerm offers a rich selection of file transfer protocols for exchanging files with a host system (all the ones you are familiar with!). The program also offers keyboard macros, optional VT-100 emulation, echoing of the on-line session to a flat text file or printer, support for baud rates of 300 to 38,400 and more. Color or mono. Docs included. BT310AB3m is the latest version of Binkley Term ST, v.3.10a-b3 (dated July 15, 1993). It is "A Freely Available FidoNet Compatible Electronic Mail Interface and Dumb Terminal Package." BinkleyTerm is an advanced, state-of-the-art telecommunications tool. It is primarily designed for the semi-automated sending and receiving of electronic mail and files within AtariNet and other FidoNet-compatible electronic mail networks. When used as a dumb terminal, BinkleyTerm offers a rich selection of file transfer protocols for exchanging files with a host system (all the ones you are familiar with!). The program also offers keyboard macros, optional VT-100 emulation, echoing of the on-line session to a flat text file or printer, support for baud rates of 300 to 38,400, FAX support for Zyxel modems, and more. Color or mono. ST--Falcon compatible. This version has fixed quite a few bugs in previous versions (all of which were rare). Only limited Docs included (I've seen much more complete docs, but only with version 2.40M--found in the MODEMS category as BINKLEYT). BTALK_1m is the complete transcript of the BackTalk topic on GEnie and the Atari Roundtables from Dec. 15, 1991 through April 28, 1993.. Backtalk is the scripting language for STalker, the telecommunications program from Gribnif Software (I think it's wonderful, and I use it all the time!). BTPACK05m is a utility by Jan Leveren which will enable you to use Bermuda's Pack, Import and Scan with the mailer Binkley Term 3.01a and upwards in a (the author hopes!) an easy way. Docs included. See PACKCNV2 for a similar utility. BTS301Am is the complete source code (in C) of BinkleyTerm-ST v.3.01A. Some say that BinkleyTerm is the best fido compatible mailer for the ST. The author says you are free to modify the code as long as you make it plain you are doing so and send him a copy. This archive is in three parts so that floppy users can uncompress it. BT_312Am is Binkleyterm v3.12a now supported by Otto Braendli (dated Jan. 15, 1994). BinkleyTerm is "A Freely Available FidoNet Compatible Electronic Mail Interface and Dumb Terminal Package" that has been freely supported by a multitude of programmers around the world. This advanced state-of-the-art telecommunications tool. It is primarily designed for the semi- automated sending and receiving of electronic mail and files within AtariNet and other FidoNet-compatible electronic mail networks. When used as a dumb terminal, BinkleyTerm offers a rich selection of file transfer protocols for exchanging files with a host system (all the ones you are familiar with!). The program also offers keyboard macros, optional VT-100 emulation, echoing of the on-line session to a flat text file or printer, optimized Z-mode file transfers, support for baud rates of 300 to 38,400, integrated FAX support for Zyxel modems, RSVE support, optimized RS232 routines, and more. Color or mono. ST--Falcon compatible. Docs included. This archive also includes HSMODA02, a high speed modem port fix by Harun Scheutzow. BUSYm is a little accessory that will send a character across your phone lines every once-in-a-while when you have a modem hooked up (but only when you aren't doing it yourself). This keeps a BBS from hanging up on you when you have to run after your kid, answer the door, or run to the bathroom. The nice thing about BUSY is that you can enable or disable it at will (so you can still start to DL that huge file and then go to bed, knowing that you will be logged off after it finishes). Color or mono. CAIN0394m is the March, 1994 issue of the Central Atari Information Network of the Cleveland Free-net Atari SIG. Chock full of information about the whole Atari line ( XE/XL/800/400,FALCON030/ST/TT/ST(e), PORTFOLIO,LYNX,JAGUAR) this made for an interesting read. I recommend it to you. CAIN0594m is the May 17, 1994 issue of CAIN, the Central Atari Information Network of the Cleveland Free-Net Atari SIG. This newsletter covers the Atari 7800/XE/XL/800/400,FALCON030/ST/TT/ST(e), PORTFOLIO,LYNX,JAGUAR. Wow! This is an interesting read. There really is too much here to tell you what is here (and I don't have the TIME!). I recommend it! CALTIM31m is Bob's Calltime by Bob Areddy (dated Jan. 15, 1994). This program will call the Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. to get the correct time (you need to supply the modem and phone line!) and then set your ST's clock to that time. They have a computer set up just spitting out the time in military format and the date in Julian format. The Abaccus Assempro source (.S) is included. Also included is the Observatory's phone #. Finally, myeck waters has included a file (with the author's permission) that modifies the program so that it doesn't require a keypress to continue on after the program gets the time information. CAT_FILEm is a CAT_FILE.BTS script for STalker 3.0 by Scott Dowdle and Bob Morrow. This script file stops and waits for a command (keystroke) when 19 or 20 lines fill up. You can also Quit at any time during the reading of a doc file. CAT_PAGEm by Scott Dowdle is a modified version of the CAT_FILE that came with the STalker master disk from Gribnif. It included the .BTS and .BTK files. The author says that this is nothing fancy, but that it makes reading text files in STalker's window a lot easier and is specially handy when using STeno. CHATTEm is Chatter v.2.3b by Andreas Greulich. This program is a rather simple terminal which allows you to split the screen in two windows; an input window and an output window. Text can be entered in the input window while text is arriving via modem (that saves A LOT of time!). A capture buffer (history) is supported as well as options for viewing it. Moreover a 'single-line-editor' allows you to edit lines before sending them. The following terminal emulations are supported: * no emulation (tty) * vt52 * vt100 * minitel (three versions) As file transfer protocols, only Xmodem and Ymodem are supported in the current version. If you have TOS 1.0/1.2 you need to have a patch for the RTS/CTS bug. A program that would fix this just fine is SERFIX20 from the Suzy B's Catalog. Mono only. CHOPm is a program that looks at the last 1024 bytes of a file, starting at the last byte. As it works its way up the file when it finds a character other than CONTROL Z (the padding character for Xmodem) it stops and makes a copy of the file from that point forward, then deletes the old copy and renames the new shortened copy to the old file's name. Color or mono. CID_1_04m is the CallerID .ACC v.1.04 demo by Paul Lyon (dated March 29, 1994). If you have Caller Identification enabled through your phone company this .ACC will provide you with the number of the phone used to call you (and a person's name if you supply it in your database), the ability to hang-up on "Blocked" calls if you wish (great idea!), a way to keep track of the number, time, date of calls received, and much more--and all in the background, too!. Designed to work with the Supra FAX modem with Caller ID, it might work with other modems with Caller ID capability (are there others?). Docs included. This looks like a pretty neat utility! CLASSIFYm is CLASIFIED ADS v.2.0 by Byron Davis, Albert Dayes and Jim Supree (dated Jan. 4, 1992). This program, for use with Michtron BBS v.3.0, works like the classified ad section of a newspaper. Your ads get broken down into various ad catagories (computers, auto, music, wanted, etc.). This makes things much easier to check out. COMA_150m is the demo version of CoMa v.1.50 by the SOFTBR-Team (dated Oct. 29, 1993). This is a .ACC/.PRG Shareware fax send and receive software package from Germany. This version has better Falcon compatibility, fixes some bugs, now allows 1st Word Plus documents with all enhanced text features to be transmitted, and polishes things up. It is limited in that only the top 500 lines of any FAX will be sent (or printed). Simply by clicking a button in the program you can switch between English or German versions of the program. Docs (German) included. Lots of features, but you are going to have to check them out. COMMTOOLm is CommTool v.1.0. This SHAREWARE program by John Eidsvoog (dated August 15, 1991) is a full-screen editor designed to edit messages while on-line with various telecommunications networks and BBSes. This eliminates the hassles of trying to edit your messages (mistakes) using the cumbersome on-line editors currently existing. If you frequently call more than one of these services, you'll no longer have to remember how each of the editors works. CommTool can be used in any resolution on any Atari ST/TT in any of the on-line environments supported. CommTool is fully automatic and can sense which protocol is currently in use. The message editing protocols currently supported are: Compuserve; Delphi; GEnie; Michtron. It can run as either a .PRG or an .ACC. Full docs are included. As with any program by John Eidsvoog (or any of the CodeHeads) this program does what it says it will, and does it well! This is NOT a CodeHead Software product (they only release commercial products). CON24UPm is a necessary update by Wolfgand Wander to CoNnect v.2.46 (which was dated Feb. 2, 1994). This file (dated March 5, 1994) fixes a major bug in CoNnect vs. 2.45 and 2.46 concerning the built-in Z-Modem. While downloading, this bug could cause the loss of the file's beginning. Yikes! It contains the program and help files which just replace the corresponding files in CoNnect v.2.46. You only need this file if you have gotten CoNnect v.2.46 from some other source. The version in the Suzy B's Software library is already fixed. CONNE246m is the Connect v.2.46 completely working demo (dated March 5, 1994). Connect by Wolfgang Wander is a very full-featured GEM based telecommunications program for the ATARI ST/STE/TT series, which will run under (nearly) any resolution. Compatible with TOS, MultiTOS, Geneva, and probably any TOS enhancement, Connect will allow you to use all serial and midi ports on your computer--even at the same time (multiple modems downloading from different services!). It has well-done emulations of VT52, VT100, VT102/ANSI, VT220 and TEK4014 Terminals. The program has a very powerful internal command shell name COSHY which will allow you to do all sorts of things automatically. The program and many of the docs are in English (the rest in German). Excellent online docs. This version updates the Feb., 1994 v2.46 which had some severe bugs in the z-modem downloading routines. All fixed now! I have heard many people rave about this program. I would say that this program might be difficult for some to learn to use (me included), but when learned would be powerful indeed. Shareware (a 30 hour limit of use before Connect starts limiting itself--that's the "demo" part). This file uncompresses to over 950K, so it is not self-extracting. To uncompress this file you need a program like DC Xtract v.2.2b or LZH210 (both in the UTILITIES category) and then uncompress it to a hard drive or two floppies. COVERFAXm is a FAX Transmission Cover Sheet's in PageStream format. You can use this with the Joppa FAX and PageStream export module. COWS_90m is Cows v.9.0 by Joe Blenke (dated June 1, 1991). COWS! is a simple (although complex) off-the-wall science fiction-fantasy type text adventure type game that can be played on a BBS with other players or by yourself. Should you decide to accept it, your (1st) mission is to seek out and destroy the Moovian Cow Base. If you can do that you still need to continue your travels through three very dangerous levels (and a multitude of sub-level scenarios), seek out distant planets, find secret codes and passages. I found this amusing to play (and I don't like text adventures that much). The key to its attraction is that it is SO wacky! This is SHAREWARE that is about 60% operational. The amazing part is that you don't realize what you are missing in getting only 60%! As always, if you use it, register it. It's only fair, and you will get a lot more for your money. Color or mono. Docs included. STe compatible. CQWKE22m is Captain's Qwk v.2.2E by Dirk Hoeschen (dated 1993). QWK is an easy way to read, enter, and reply to messages on a BBS without being online (save LOTS of money!). On many BBSes it is possible to tag the message areas you are interested in and invoke the BBS to pack a QWK-mailbundle. These mailbundles are compressed with a standard archiver. The bundle contains standard index and control files, BBS logos and bulletins, and a message file (you will need the archive utility to uncompress the bundle). Captain's QWK is a program that will let you take advantage of BBS's that offer QWK offline mail capabilities. It looks very well done. This program's features are: - built in ANSI-emulator for BBS-Logos (a neat sample included) - variable fontsizes and styles if using GDOS - read, enter and reply to messages - print a single message - ASCII export of single messages - automatic metmailsupport if using MAX2.0 - editable function keys for the editor (and a capable editor at that! It allows wordwrapping of imported ASCII text, quotes from the message to which you are replying, and more. - start as an application just double click on a QWK file and Go! - start your external programs with a single keypress (terminals, editors, whatever) Color or mono. ST/STe/TT (even with only 512K RAM!), MultiGem and MultiTOS compatible. Clear and Extensive docs included. 172K uncompressed. SHAREWARE. CTERM14m is Cowboy Term v.1.4 by Troy H. Cheek (dated November 21, 1991). It is a terminal program for any Atari ST in Medium or High resolution. It's features include a 20 number dialing list, automatic dialing with auto login macros, "dial 'til you drop", the ability to call up to 30 other programs with individual command lines (no more need for shells!), built-in ASCII and Xmodem upload and download, a VT52 terminal emulator, automatic capture buffer, access to all your accessories, and more! It includes a corner clock, a screen saver It's small, fast, and very powerful. Now it allows Z modem transfers as well! It's also a memory miser, and can run easily on an unmodified 520 ST, even with a 100K ramdisk! This is a very full-featured terminal program. Check it out! CURSIVEm by Jan Wolter (and ported to the ST by Darin Wayrynen is a simple program that you can use to generate horizontal cursive banners. It's main use is for generating cute signatures for email. Here's an example below. An old version of GULAM (a command line shell) is included and set up so that as soon as you run it the cursive program is called and you are told just what to do. Color or mono. Docs included. STe compatible. () __ o () /\ / ) ' /\ /) _/_ / ) . . __. __ , /--< _ / ) ____// / , , , __. __ _ /__/__(_/_/ |_/ (_/_ /___/ /_)_ /__/__(_) /___<__(_(_/_(_/|_/ (_ ' ), and he does one great job at Delphi, too. It's nice to put a face alongside of the help! Thanks Gordie. The original archive had two scanned .IMG files as well, but their quality was rotten, so I deleted them (and since they took up about 400+K saved you a lot of disk space, too!). CHECK OUT DELPHI. It's a great online service!!! GSZRZ228m is the GSZRZ GEM based XYZ modem transfer protocal by Michael Ziegler. Compatible with the ST-TT this set of programs and accessories will allow you to use X, Y, or Z modem to transfer files (up or downloading allowed) when used with any telecommunications program that allows external programs to be run. It seems simple to use, but the docs are all in German. I've not tried this other than to see that it runs because I use STalker from Gribnif which already has these functions built in (most modern telecommunications program--like Flash II--already have these functions built in). Shareware. Color or mono. GVWFAX03m by John McLoud is a module for GEM View which will allow you to display FAX files from the COMA FAX program. The docs are in German. Shareware. Delphi. G_ORACLEm is GEnie Oracle v.1.30 by Paul Lefebvre (dated Dec. 2, 1993). If you have STalker and you use GEnie, then you should have this BackTalk Script that automates GEnie, and so can save you lots of time and money. Using this script you can get and send mail messages, read and reply to BBS conversations, and download files...all in the background, and all while you are asleep in bed (if you wish). It is very easy to set up and configure. If you have STeno (another excellent program) this script will take full advantage of its power. This Shareware program is worth getting (and registering--I have, and I use it all the time). Requires STalker 3.0x or higher. ST-Falcon compatible. Detailed docs included. (See D_ORACLE for the Delphi specific script). HAGTERMm is HagTerm ST v.1.31 by Hagop Janoyan (dated August 10, 1988). This older terminal program (long since evolved into the commercial program STEALTH) will allow you to do many things. Here is a list of some of its features: Playback/Record, Up to 19200 Baud, Fully Mouse Controlled, Transfer Section, A Unique Editable Buffer Mode, Serial Buffer can be Up to 31K, Macros, Macro-to-Macro Link, Many Disk Functions, Arc/UnArc from WITHIN the Program, Run External Programs, Save Default Options and Macros, A On- Screen clock and Timer, A On-Screen Display of Setup, Free-Ram display, Transfer with Xmodem, Ymodem, Ymodem Batch, or Zmodem (with external program such as XYZ201.PRG), Block Feature from Buffer Mode, On-Line Help, Both Color and Mono supported, A Unique Dial Mode, AutoDialer, Multiple Number Dialer, Load/Save Dial Directory, and much much MUCH more! Docs included. SHAREWARE. HCKFAX10m is HackFax v.1.0 by Helmut E. Neumann and Markus Bubendorf (dated May 2, 1993). It is a Freeware FAX program for all Atari TOS machines and the ZyXEL FAX-Modem. Using this program you can send and receive FAXes using your computer. The docs and program are all in German. I have been told that while this is a competent program it cannot compare with STraight FAX!, the FAX software from NewStar Technologies and distributed by Toad Computers. I haven't checked it out myself though. HDFS_101m is a small utility for BBS Express! ST by R. Sanchez (dated January 4, 1993). This utility, which will also work without BBS Express! ST, will report the free space remaining on all your hard drive partitions (up to 99 meg per partition). It comes as an .ACC and a separate TOS program. Docs included. HIGHSPEDm by Bryan Edewaard is a small AUTO folder utility (or it may be run at any time) that will allow users of Mega STEs to load disks with executable boot sectors in 16MHz mode with Cache On. Since many games come on disks with no valid directory, they must be booted by resetting the computer. This means they will be booted in the Mega STEs 8MHz mode. This program will boot most of these disks in 16Mhz (Notice: Not all software will run in 16MHz). It also allows you to choose between 50 and 60 Hz mode. Color or mono. Docs included. HISPEEDm is two programs by Rene Deutscher. One of them is a configurator for those of you who have bought one of these wonderful Highspeed modems and are not able to understand all Commands in their handbook. Just begin this program and it will present you with a list of various modems. If you have one of them, type its letter, OK the save to modem (NV_RAM) feature, and you're all set! The next is a program that will patch FLASH! so that it will be usable to upload files at high speeds It fixes the RTS/CTS bug in Flash. Run this program and you're all set, again! Color or mono. Docs included. HS_FIX14m is HS_FIX - the RTS/CTS- HandShake Fix v.1.4 by Pascal Fellerich (dated 1993). This AUTO Folder program is a freeware patch for the TRS/CTS bug in TOS 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.62, and the new TOS 2.06 (why haven't they fixed that bug yet!). You don't need this file unless you have a 9600 or higher baud modem (and use it!). Docs are in German. HSMODA02m is the most recent version of HSMODEM by Harun Scheutzow (English translation on Jan. 1, 1994). This package of utilities (several different utilities are included for your specific machine) that is a serial fix/serial port accelerator for all ST(e)/Mega ST(e)/TT/Falcon machines/MultiTOS/MagX!/Geneva. Put this program in your AUTO folder and you will find that you no longer have a problem your serial-port speed limitations on Modem Port 1. The author claims a reliable speed increase to 38 kbps on an 8-mHz ST and much more on a Mega STe and TT. ZOOM! The docs are in German, but the author has included his rough English translation. H_SN00Z is HomerSn00ze v0.01 by Homer the Brave! This handy little .ACC will allow you to run off to the bathroom (or whatever) when you are hooked up to a BBS and not get knocked off for "inactivity." Of course, if you're signed on to an expensive service and forget to come back, you pay BIG bucks. This has it's uses though! Docs included. IBIIIV14m is Iron Bomber III v.1.4 (dated July 23, 1993). Iron Bomber III: Alien Defense is an over-the-modem game that can be used with either ST BBS Express or Turbo BBS. Now, the player controls a space ship. You must destroy all of the alien ships before moving onto the next wave or level. Level 50 has a mother ship. Destroy it and you win the game. There is also a password function to allow you to go to the higher levels. A password is given every 5 levels. There is a high score table for 1200 baud users, 2400 baud users, and High speed modem callers. Since the difficulty varies with how fast the modem can transmit data, three tables were necessary. The remote user needs to have ANSI or VT-52 emulation in order to play the game. Docs included. SHAREWARE. 116K uncompressed. IG216 is the Instant Graphics! Online Interpreter version 2.16 by Larry Mears (dated October 23, 1991). Instant Graphics! Desk Accessory graphics terminal or Instant Graphics! Emulator for Interlink (both found in this file) bring a whole new concept in online graphics and sound! Now you can see TRUE online graphics and hear sound and MIDI music over the modem! If you are tired of the bland VT52 colors that most ST BBS' offer, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the super fast graphics and sound this NEW terminal emulation unlocks! Now with online point and click commands, and greater control over sound effects! SHAREWARE. Color or mono. Keyboard and/or mouse controlled. EXTENSIVE docs included. If you haven't heard of Instant Graphics ask someone and then get this file. Better yet, just get this file. Wow! IGSED25m is the Instant Graphics and Sound Editor v.2.5 by Anthony S. Rau (dated Jan. 9, 1993). This utility will allow you to quickly create screen and (add new) sound files to the Instant Graphics! terminal program. Instant Graphics! is an .ACC or Emulator for Interlink and other terminal programs that will bring a whole new concept in online graphics and sound to you! With this you can see online graphics and hear sound and MIDI music over the modem (fly those planes around the screen!)! Now IGS will let you create colorful and fast graphics for use on a supported BBS . This file has new sounds for you to use, excellent docs, a demo that details the power of IGS, and the full program itself. Also included is the most recent version of the Instant Graphics terminal program by Larry Mears (v.2.17, dated Jan. 26, 1992) and MicroEmacs, an excellent text editor for use with IGS. Color only. IJCTSILUm is "I just called to say, I logged you!" v.0.50 by Michael Hill (dated early 1994). What does IJCTSILU do? Well it is a TOS program that once run it will watch result codes coming back from your Caller ID capable Supra FAX modem. When someone calls it will "speak" out the phone number of the caller using included sample sounds (the author speaks!). On neat thing is that you can customize specific announcements for specific phone numbers called (when your Mom calls you can sample your voice saying, "It's your Mom calling, hurry up!" The program logs all calls dates, times, and numbers to a log file. It will also hang up on private calls or all calls if you set it to (so you can get some work done phone free). Color or mono. Docs included. ST-Falcon included. ILNMULTIm is an .ACC (v.1.74) that allows you to do background transfers using Interlink ST (which is required). INFOGUIDm is a text file from the Southeast Universities Research Association Network dating from July 13, 1992. It is a comprehensive guide to Internet. Internet is a free computer network covering the country, and generally accessed through a university or business computer. This file also includes the August 25, 1987 issue of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Internet by Ed Krol. This interesting file is designed for the newuser to become versed in the "oral tradition" of the Internet. The Guide is not a tutorial. It consists mainly of pointers to other places, literature, and hints that are not well documented. If you have access to these sources this file is for you (it's even interesting if you don't!). INIT_MDMm is a freeware Modem Initializer by Jrgen Meyer. This program will allow you to configure your modem (a wide variety of features are supported) when connected to your ST-TT (either modem 1 or modem 2 port). I really can't say much about this because it is all in German (both program and docs). The program does look easy to use. Color or mono. INTRTCOMm is PC/Intercom v.3.01, a full-featured telecommunications package. This supports multiple transfer protocols with transfer speeds up to 19,200 baud. Supports ANSI or VT52 emulations. Keyboard controlled. Online helps. Color or mono. IOSm is the IOS Mailer v.1.00 (that's what one doc says, but all others say v.0.89) by R. Visscher and Eddie Tao (dated Aug. 15, 1992). IOSmail is a program that imports, exports, scans and crunches FidoNet mail and FidoNet compatible mail. It interfaces to BinkleyTerm 3.02 and 3.03a to send and receive FidoNet message packets. It also comes with a graphical shell for easy set-up. Besides IOSmail, for a complete FidoNet package you will need Mailer software (BinkleyTerm) and a reader. JEKYL138m is Jekyll v.1.38 by Vincent Partington (dated Nov. 22, 1992). This is a full duplex file transfer protocol that allows your modem to send files both ways and what's more: you can even chat with the other side at the same time and the CPS rate won't drop noticably. It can even go up if you're sending uncompressed files because Jekyll will compress them before sending and decompress them automatically when receiving! This program is continuously being updated and being made better. It also comes with a small terminal shell called Hyde. In order to use it the BBS you are calling needs to support it. I would predict that any BBS that uses Jekyll will see a dramatic increase in the number of files uploaded, since it wouldn't take any more time to do so on the callers part. ST/STe/TT compatible with at least one meg of RAM. Color or mono. Docs included. SHAREWARE. JEK_STLKm is the Jekyll Shell for STalker, v.1.2 by Tim Seufert (dated Dec.1992/Jan. 1993). Jekyll Shell for STalker is a BackTALK script program for STalker version 3.00 or above. It allows you to run Jekyll, the bidirectional file transfer protocol written by Vincent Partington (in other words Jekyll allows you to both upload and download at the same time, and this shell helps you to do it within STalker). Docs included. KERMITm is GEM-Kermit for the ATARI ST, an implementation of the kermit file-transfer protocol, which makes use of the GEM-capabilities to present a friendlier user-interface than "the other" kermit. Besides of that, GEM-Kermit can interact with IBM mainframes, a skill which the development kit kermit lacks. Color or mono. KEY20m is the Skeleton Key, v.2.0 by Bill Jones (dated Mar. 1992). This program places itself between your BBS Express ST! program and any other program you use with it. It will completely relieve you of the need for GATEWAY.TOS, CHAINER.TTP and DORINFO1.SCR. It will allow you to run games written for other BBS systems. Not only that but it will allow you to run any other program as well (for example a compression utility). This version has been completely re-written and is now 1/3 the size of the original and twice as fast. It also includes many new features (including environmental control). Detailed docs included. SHAREWARE (not crippled at all). Don't bother with the phone number in the docs; it's been disconnected. KILL202m is Maxi*Kill v.2.02 by Erik Williams (dated March 24, 1993). Maxi*Kill is mainly for those BBS sysops who want to fine-tune their control over how they delete files automatically. But even if you're not a SysOp, you will still find Maxi*Kill if you have files that you regularly delete. This version now allows you to specify multiple days (for example, Monday AND Thursday) for events and Log Maintenance, and to specify "Week" and "WeekEnd" events. He has also made the date comparison routines much easier to read and use. ST-TT compatible. Color or mono. Docs included. KM_TERM19m is KM-Term v.1.90 by Kevin Millican (dated 1993). KM_Term is a VT52, VT100, & ANSI terminal emulator for the Atari ST range of microcomputers. It is full of features such as AUTO log ons, Macros, run external programs, online help, capture buffer, and much more (it's even pretty to look at!). This program allows you to access any ANSI BBS (with all of their fancy graphics). It isn't a full ANSI compatible program (you can't display all of those ANSI colors in ST med. res or mono!), but it does a good job converting those ANSI pictures into something the ST can show. This has a neat HOST mode which allows you to leave the terminal unattended and have KM_Term answer any calls that are made. It acts like a BBS, with interactive messages, echo back characters, and the ability to upload/ download files via JEKYLL (see the MODEMS category for that file). ST-TT compatible (it will even run on a 512K machine). Shareware (not disabled at all). KRZY8Sm by John Ferguson is Crazy Eights written so that it will run from inside your communications program. Up to six players at one time. Color or mono. Docs included. LA_PRm is a press release descripting the Load Aladdin project by Keith Gerdes of Trace Technologies (the Squish II, Data Recovery, Data Diet II, and Missouri file viewer company). Aladdin, the "front end" of GEnie, doesn't work with the Falcon...or at least it didn't used to. Now it does through Load Aladdin! Mega STE and TT owners can now use their extra serial ports for connecting to GEnie. Details on getting this Shareware program (only useful if you use Aladdin) are included. LED_122m is the Little red EDitor v.1.22 by Volkmar Wieners and roland Bohn (dated July 9, 1993). This program is a message editor for Fido Points and standard BBS's. LED uses the Quick BBS ST format for message bases and is completely compatible with IOS, Bermuda, and Jetmail. It also has full support for extended flags in message headers. It's unfortunate, but while the German docs mention English documentation, it's missing from this archive. ST--Falcon compatible. LINK315Rm is ST-LiNK, The Line Noise Killer by Andy Inman v.3.13 (dated May 7, 1990). Link does automatic error-correction of RS232 data, and is primarily designed for BBS use. LiNK offers many of the advantages of an MNP modem *without* the cost! Separate data-compression modules (e.g. Turbo2--included here) work with LiNK to give increased throughput (a bit like having a faster modem!). Link has built-in CTS flow control! Link can be run from the desktop or AUTO folder. This program can give you a much faster modem (like MNP protocols, but cheaper!). Docs included. SHAREWARE. LINKLINEm will allow you to connect your ST to an Atari 8 Bit Computer. Color or mono. No documentation. LTALK10m is LazerTalk, a Full Duplex External Chat System for QuickBBS-ST by John Carolin and Keyop Troy. LazerTalk is an external replacement chat program for QuickBBS-ST that offers a split screen chat facility. This is the first chat system for QBBS-ST that will operate in BOTH VT52 AND ANSI! The screen is split in two giving the sysop and the user their own window allowing text to be entered simultaneously by each participant. If the user has ASCII or something else selected then a standard chat routine is provided. Depending on the users graphics mode the sysop may toggle between split screen and standard during the chat. Docs included. MADDIALm This is a redial program for the 520/1040 ST. It is a desk accessory that may be activated by clicking the proper box under the desk menu prompt. It should be used with Emulator.Acc. (The Atari Vt52 emulator desk accessory. MAKE9600m is a text file discribing how to upgrade your 2400 baud modem into a 9600 baud US Robotics compatible modem. Written by Death Bringer. This upgrading of your modem will not work on old hayes modems, but they will work on any clone maker of modems (everex, practical peripherals, anchor, ati, intel, etc.) It will only work with modems with the Intel Chipset. This technique widens the band width by using a different chip that is similiar to the chip already in your modem. What a great idea! I am not sure if this will really work. (I've been told that it will, and I've been told that it will wreck your modem! You decide!) MAXI0708m is Maxidoor (dated July 8, 1992) by Shawn Smith. This is a doors program for FoReM/Turbo BBS's that will allow your users to log in, download new messages from the bases that they have selected (and you have validated them for) in a compressed format. Also included in the compressed packet will be any confmail they select to receive and a listing of New files since they last logged on. They can then take this packet and through MaxiMiser (on another QWK compatible program for ST's) or any IBM QWK compatible program (Deluxe2, SLMR, Ezreader all have been tested) enter their replies to be uploaded and posted in the correct message bases (and give people an opportunity to compose more reasoned replies as well--though don't count on it!). If you are a SysOp, this file can free up lots of time on your BBS. Docs included. SHAREWARE (numerous enhancements available on registration). MDBB1194m is the Medical Information Network BBS listing (dated March 3, 1994). It is a list of medical, fire/EMS, science, recovery, Parents, AIDS and disABILITY related bulletin board systems. Toll free government BBS's and hundreds of other phone numbers. I'd like to call some of them myself! I found this on Toad Hall. MDMADDICm "Did you know that last month's (expletive) phone bill is over $450?"...so begins this very humorous look at the use of the modem. I had a good laugh over this piece--it reminds me of all the money we are spending "combing" though BBS's! Well worth the read! MDMHUNT2m is Modem Hunt v.2 by Won Rhee. This is a game to be played via modem between you and one other person. I imagine it could be played using a null-modem cable as well. It is a computerized version of Hide-and-go-seek. Hunt out your "enemy," fire missles, drop mines, deploy bind bombs, and much more. You can talk with each other using the built-in editor. Docs included. SHAREWARE. MDTST105m is v.1.05 of MODEMTST, a program by David Troy of Toad Computers for all current and prospective owners of STraight FAX!. It will test your modem to see what features it has (Class 0, 1, or 2, Caller ID, and more), buffer size, flow control, how fast it can go, and where its firmware came from. It will also tell you if your modem is compatible with STraight FAX. You can print out this information as well. It works on all ST/TT/Falcon computers and has been tested on a Mega STE, 1040STE, 1040STF, TT030, Falcon030 and Gemulator. It even has an attractive 3D interface when used on the Falcon030 or under MultiTOS (Geneva, too). Docs included. Color or mono. An inclosed text file details some terrific deals that Toad Computers is offering for FAX modems and STraight FAX (only through Dec.). Make sure you get v.1.05 rather than v.1.00 -- v.1.02 since 1.05 is compatible with more modems (including voice-mail compatible and US Robotics modems). Docs included. MIKYTERMm is another simple to use modem program. No Documentation. Color or mono. MINITERMm is v.9.29 of MiniTerm, a Swedish Modem .PRG and .ACC. This VT100 terminal emulator features ascii/xmodem/ymodem/external zmodem file transfer protocols, a dialing directory, and a host mode. Docs are in Swedish but the program displays are not. Contains built in support for MNP3, auto dialing and more. Color or mono. MKFBBS26m is Make FILES.BBS v.2.6 by M.J.Matts (dated Jan. 25, 1992). This little utility for QuickBBS ST will aid you in creating, maintaining, and modifying the various FILES.BBS files on your system. It uses FRONTEND, a type of graphical interface much like the ZeST desktop, except this fully works in multiple colors or in mono. Color or mono. Docs included. MMST299 is MaxiMiserST v.2.99 by Shawn Smith (dated October 1, 1993). MaxiMiser is a program that will allow you to read and respond to messages that you have downloaded from BBS through a QWK compatible door (eg.Qmail for PC Board or Maxidoor for FoReM). You just take your favorite terminal program, call the BBS that you wish to download your messages from (they must have a QWK compatible Door), enter that door (Have the SysOp point you in the right direction if you can't find the right Door), configure the program to your liking, download your messages and logoff. Sign-on at a later time to send off your replies. Save lots of money! This version uses GDOS if available. Docs included. He has been _regularly_ improving this product. SHAREWARE (slightly limited until registered). This works best with 1 meg of RAM or more, but will work with less. ST/STe/TT compatible. Color or mono. 373K uncompressed. MM_100m is Macro Manager v1.00 by Lonny L. Pursell and Encom (dated Sept. 14, 1991). Macro Manager is a GEM program designed to send macros (strings) out through the modem (RS-232) port as if you typed them. The system on the other end won't know the difference. So, what is a macro? Basically it is a string of characters. Preferably one you use quite often. Some of the characters may have a special meaning which affects how the macro is sent. A good example of a macro would be your name. How many times do you type your name when you call an online service. You end up typing it more than once I'm sure, so creating a macro to do it for you will save you time. Time saved is money saved when your online! As you know (maybe) FLASH has a built in function key editor, but you can only define a maximum of 20 macros. Once you've used them all up, that's it, no more macros. Macro Manager's specialty is sending strings, so stop wasting an entire function key for one simple macro that only sends a string out to the modem. Instead let Macro Manager handle all your string sending tasks and use the function keys for more useful things. Macro Manager will let you define up to 42 strings with 33 characters each. Color or mono. Docs included. SHAREWARE. MNETV103m is the Michtron Network v.1.03 by Jeff Wells of Lone STar Software. This program will allow you to network your Michtron BBS with other Michtron BBS's. Some of its features are: o Auto-Dial your HUB BBS, all you need to do is execute the program and it does the rest. o Auto-Logon Sequences for each BBS to get you on with few keystrokes. o Auto-Download the current Mail Packets from your HUB o Create an Upload Batch Que and it will do the rest. o Configure your BBS to be 1 of 3 types of systems with MNET. o Message commands are very similiar to that of MBBS o Single line Headers, versus the 8 lines of most EMAIL programs o Scan for new message titles, and have the ability to pause if you desire or if the mail is to or from you. o Reply and Jump commands available, so you can follow a threaded message. o TAG lines inserted at end of message. o ARC's packets for quicker transfers and less disk storage o Auto-deletes packets over 30 days old. o Cheap Registration Price ($10) o Complete In-Depth Documentation. To run this program you need at least one meg of RAM, a color or mono monitor, and a modem (well, you can run this without a modem--but WHY?) MODEMBUYm is a text file that discribes many of the popular modems with features such as MNP V.32, V.42, V.42BIS, 9600 baud and 2400 baud rates. If you are thinking about buying a modem. This file is for you! MODEMECHm by Paul Huntington is designed for use on HAYES COMPATIBLE modems (those that are fully compatible!). This program will let you painlessly enter the brains of your HAYES-compatible smart modem and make almost any changes you wish. Color or mono. Docs included. MODEMMODm is "MODEM MOD" by Jeff Poling (dated early 1993). Does your Atari ST think your modem is on-line when it's not? I've never noticed mine doing that (how could I tell?), but perhaps your's has! This file (text and .PC2 picture) can give you a possible solution (cost: a 20 cent diode and 10 minutes of soldering time). MODEMV11m is "What You Need to Know about Modems" by Patrick Chen (dated May 31, 1992). This article should be useful to anyone interested in high-speed modems (or 2400-bps modems with MNP5 or V.42bis). Most modems mentioned in this article are external units. These modems can be used on any microcomputer system, be it a PC, a Macintosh or an Amiga. Although only certain communication programs are used as examples, the discussions about setting up software apply to packages not covered herein. This is one EXCELLENT article. MODIC13m is "The Modem Dictionary" v.1.30 by R. Scott Perry (it used to be called The Telecommunications Dictionary). This version now defines over 650 words ranging from everyday words like "modem" to more exotic terms like "LAP-M". This file is filled with clear and helpful explainations of terms and concepts you hear about every day. Reading through this file is an eye-opener! I found it interesting! Check it out! SHAREWARE. Uncompresses to 140K. MOTERM14m is MOTerm Elite v.1.4, a SHAREWARE telecommunications program by Doug Johnson. This is a formerly commercial product that has been released into the shareware market. It is very nicely done! No docs-- you get them with your registration fee! SHORTEN, a picture compression utility for MOTerm graphics is included as well. MOUTHIIIm by Gregg Hungerford is a terminal program/file reader with speech output (read your files with your eyes closed!). Color or mono. Docs included. MOVIE_14m is the offical release of Movie madness v.1.4 by Christian D. Carroll (dated Aug. 19, 1990). This ST BBS (Express?) Doors game is fully configurable by the SysOp, and friendly to the user. Movie Madness v1.4 puts you as a big-time movie producer. You are given a choice of 3 scripts and $15 Million to hire 3 actors/actresses and to cover production and advertising costs. Your movie is then critiqued by Hollywood's most prominent movie critics (Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert, Entertainment Tonight, People Magazine, & USA Today). When the public votes through attendance, the Academy Awards are all awarded, and the dollars are all in, you see you see your success--or lack of it! And now...Lights...Camera...Action! Prepare for MOVIE MADNESS!! MTQWK11Cm is the microTalk QWK-Reader v.1.10c by Wolfgang Zweygart (dated May 2, 1992). This program will allow you to read and reply to messages that you have downloaded from a BBS through a QWK compatible door such as Qmail for the PC & Turbo Board ST or Maxidoor for Forem. Messages bases of your choice are scanned on the BBS, compressed and, after downloading the prepared QWK packet can be read and replied to offline, resulting in not only considerable savings both in time and costs, but also the added convenience of replying at leisure without the time constraints in force on most Bulletin Boards. The microTalk reader is feature packed, making full use of GEM and has such features as multiple windows, allowing instant movement from one message base to another, user defined Macro menu, standard block commands, Clipboard, full mouse or keyboard operation and much more. This version has corrected the bugs that were found in previous versions. Color or mono. Docs included. MULTRAN is Multran v.1.0 - A PD Background File Transfer Accessory by Makoto Nagata. Multran is a tiny background (multi-tasking) file transfer utility - with it, you can transfer a file using standard Xmodem protocol while running other programs. Transfer is entirely done in a vertical blank routine, and files can be transferred to/from any media (floppy, hard disk, or Ramdisk) directly. Docs included. M_READ20m is Mountain Reader II v.2.0 by Anthony Watson (dated July 15, 1994). The author continues to improve his work! MRII, which is the successor to Mountain QWK, is the first offline message reader for the Atari which allows you to use both QWK and Bluewave message formats. This allows you to call up any BBS which supports either of those formats, download all the messages which you have previously indicated you desire. That saves a lot of time and money for you right there, but there's more. MRII allows you to _answer_ all of those messages offline, composing them "just so" and then uploading them all as a packet which the BBS then distributes appropriately. Now that saves A LOT of time and money! This version have been drastically improved (and older versions were excellent, too). It features a 3-D interface, an internal editor with clipboard support (or use your favorite external editor), a hypertext help system, offline conference configuration, user lockouts, full bulletin support with ANSI emulation, offline file requests, and much more. This demo version is only limited in that you cannot save your configuration files. Docs and online help included. Shareware. Requires at least one meg of RAM (two is better). Floppy or hard drive (Hard Drive is MUCH better!). ST-Falcon and Geneva/MultiTOS/Speedo GDOS compatible. Color or mono. The author provides excellent and active support of his shareware. Contact him with a problem and he will fix it! NEOCOMm is Neocom v.2.42b Multi by Michael Lundgren and Ulf Ronald Andersson (dated Dec. 18, 1993). This is a GEM based terminal program for the ST-Falcon. The author says that it is for those of you with some experience in telecommunications, but there are detailed docs, and it doesn't seem all that hard to me! Shareware. Here are some of its features (according to the docs): * Excellent ANSI emulation. * Mouse-handled Macro functions. * Online Help * Keyboard and/or mouse controlled * Advanced Window handling. * Variety of screen fonts available * 7 or 8 bit ASCII/VT52/ANSI Emulation. * X, Y, and Z dowloads supported (includes Alan Hamilton's XYZ201) * A NEW BBS-menu interface (BMI) Click on a character on-screen and it will be sent to the modem. * Capture buffer * Logfile for all calls. * External Protocol handling. * Runs external programs. * ASCII Uploads. * Separate Macros for every BBS. * Separate INIT/PREFIX/BAUDRATE/NAME/PASSWORD etc for every BBS-entry. * Echo (Normal or BBS) * Cost Counter. * Multi-language. * and much, much more. 724K uncompressed. NERDm is a program with an interesting name! If you call it from within Dterm (found in the Suzy B's MODEM Catalog) you will be able to access your accessories. NFL_YEST is NFL Yesterday v.2.0 by Jeff Wells. It is a MichTron BBS game for v.3.0 of MichTron's BBS. This game matches strategies from user to user or user to computer. When you first enter the game, it searches to see if you have played before. If you have, it will load your teams stats. If not, it will display the teams that is not currently being coached by users. Watch it, the computer is SMART! (or so says the author). For some reason of another the author has left it to the player or SySop to compile the program into a runnable form. Docs included. NIXPUBm is a listing by Phil Eschallier of Open Access UNIX (*NIX) Sites that you can access, sometimes for a fee and sometimes free. This list dated Dec. 12, 1992 also contains some phone numbers that will allow you to access the NET. Found on the CodeHead BBS (and the GEnie Science section, category 5). NO_CLEARm by Jon Emery is a short BackTalk Script for STalker that will allow STalker to keep its virtual screen (a type of text buffer) even when it receives a clear screen command via modem. This script only works when you are in VT-52 or PC-Ansi mode (and I always am). Set up this script using Function Key Setting under STalker's Setting menu, save your configuration, and you're set. That problem won't happen again! OBBS_100m is a program entitled "All the Other BBS" v.1.00 by Mark S. Farmer (dated Jan 17, 1993). For use with Express ST BBS, RatSoft BBS, Turbo, Forem, and others, this program will allow your callers to easily find other BBS's in any area code they request (if you have them listed, of course!). It also provides you with PC Pursuit nodes (PC Pursuit was a way you could call all over the place for only $1 per hour). Unfortunately, PC Pursuit was canned by US Sprint so that part of the program is useless. Color or mono. Data files included. Shareware. This is a demo version, but I'm not sure how it is limited. ODD_101m is ODD (the Orpahn Description Destroyer) v.1.01 (dated May 23, 1993). This utility for BBS Express! ST which frees up space on your HD by deleting description files that do not have matching true files. Use this to clean up your BBS Express ST BBS. A log of your activity is kept as well. OFFLN152m is Offline v.1.52 by Doug Johnson. This utility allows you to save lots of money when you use your modem (you still have to spend it so you can save it!). It allows you to do your modem messaging off-line and so save on telecommuncation charges. It allows you to sort your messages, keep track of them, make replys (and automatically upload them to the correct destinations), print them out and much more. Simple docs (complete docs when you register this SHAREWARE version). OMNI_101m is v.1.01 of a multi-tasking BBS program by Kurtis Walsh of No Preservatives software. Docs are by Dennis Booth. It is really a teaser for a "much bigger and better multi-line telecommunication package" he will be releasing in 1992. Omni BBS is designed to run on most any configuration of ST and TT system, including 520ST's and also with only one drive. It has a really neat on-line text editor using pop up menus and full-screen editing. This BBS system will allow you to do all sorts of things! It is limited by the author in a few minor ways (so he says) so that you will purchase the full program (which is available now). Color or mono. Docs included. ONE_FILEm is a STalker 3.x .BTS script by Bob Morrow that allows you pick a GEnie RoundTable and file number, call that number, download the file, and hang up. This is a one file, GEnie only utility (of course, someone could modify it for Delphi or another online service--the author welcomes your changes). Be careful not to pick a file that isn't there because this script doesn't know what to do then (it won't hang up). Docs included. PACKCNV2m is Packconv version 2 by Erno Meffert and Theo Runia. This archive contains two utilities to make the Bermuda mail utilities compatible with Binkley ST. The Bermuda utilities mentioned are the new version of Import and Pack and the new program Scan. They are quite a bit better and faster then the old The Box mail utilities. Docs included. See BTPACK05 for a similar utility. PARASV12m is v.1.2 of an interesting reverse screen saver by Patrick Robert (Paradiddle). As soon as you enable this program (by CONTROL-ATERNATE-*) your screen blanks and waits for a Carrier Detect signal from your modem. Then the screen appears. If you lose the connection it turns on again. If you run a BBS, this provides you with an easy way to monitor activity. PCPDIALm is PCPDIAL PC Pursuit Dialer v.1.4 by michael moncur (dated 1992). This is a PC Pursuit dialer program. It accepts the outdial and phone number on the command line. It should work with any STadel or adel system, or any BBS or terminal program that can run an external program with a command line. It will log on for you, give your user ID and password, and even keep a record of you total usage time. ST/STe (through TOS 1.62 at least) compatible. Docs included. The only problem is that PCPursuit is no more. Sprint (the originators of the service) decided to cancel it. So, I don't know why I still include this, but maybe you can use it for something! PCPDLRV7m is the PC Pursuit Racal-Vadic Mode Dialer v.7 for FLASH by Mark Asbell. With this handy program you can set up Flash to automatically do all your PC Pursuit dialing (believe me, that's a BIG help!). Color or mono. Docs included. The only problem is that PCPursuit is no more. Sprint (the originators of the service) decided to cancel it. So, I don't know why I still include this, but maybe you can use it for something! PCPFLSH5m v.5 is a DO file for use with PC Pursuit (the $1 an hour long distance company for modem use) and Flash v.1.52 and up by Kenneth R. Martin (dated Oct 26, 1987). This file can make operation with PC Pursuit a breeze! Log on give your destination node and password and dial, all automatically. This file also contains lots of other modem related text files that you can profitably read for using this program. Color or mono. Docs included. The only problem is that PCPursuit is no more. Sprint (the originators of the service) decided to cancel it. So, I don't know why I still include this, but maybe you can use it for something! PCP_DIALm by Tom Zerucha is a PC PURSUIT automatic scanning dialer. It will dial though a list of BBS's for each PC Pursuit exchange until it gets a positive connection. If there are none at that node it will disconnect and move on to another where it will try again. The author has included a lot of error trapping. This is a very useful program if you use PC Pursuit. SHAREWARE. Color or mono. The only problem is that PCPursuit is no more. Sprint (the originators of the service) decided to cancel it. So, I don't know why I still include this, but maybe you can use it for something! PC_PURSTm is a collection of messages about PC Pursuit compiled from CodeHead Quarters BBS, 1610 Vine St., Hollywood, CA 90028 (213) 461-2095. This BBS is an excellent source of information and programs for the ST/TT (and so is Suzy B's Software!). The only problem is that PCPursuit is no more. Sprint (the originators of the service) decided to cancel it. So, I don't know why I still include this, but maybe you can use it for something! PGP23Am is "Pretty Good Privacy version release 2.3a" by Phil Zimmermann (dated July 2, 1993). PGP, short for Pretty Good Privacy, is a public key encryption package; with it, you can secure messages and data files you transmit against unauthorized reading and digitally sign them so that people receiving them can be sure they come from you. The keying is very secure and efficient. Excellent docs which explore both the theory and practice of public encryption. I would recommend this file just for them. English, French, and Spanish help files are included (all docs are in English). 716K uncompressed. PGPSHL06m is PGP Shell v.0.6 (uploaded April 10, 1994) by Randy Hoekstra (the author of The Grocery Lister, and other fine programs). PGP Shell is a simple Atari GEM interface for Philip Zimmermann's Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) public-key encryption software. PGP is available for many different computer platforms with a command line interface requiring the memorization of command codes and syntax (some people like such things, but I'll go for a shell any day!). Randy has made such a shell which has already gone through several revisions making it better each time. The most used commands have been implemented and the rest are being worked on. Very easy to use and with lots of features (like the ability to display any ASCII text in a GEM window), this program allows you to create your public and private keys, encode and decode files, and more. Color or mono. Docs included. Requires PGP (see PGP23A) to work. ST-Falcon and Geneva compatible. PRIVACYm is four ASCII text files discussing the topic of privacy in data transmission. Apparently the Clinton Administration is making efforts to limit the availability of Public Key Encryption systems (see Pretty Good Privacy--PGP23A and the PGP Shell program--PGPSHL06 in the MODEMS category for that program and support files). The articles are: "Right to E-Mail Privacy Would Seem Self-Evident;" "Jackboots on the Infobahn," and "Public Keys Allow Tight Security." The final file is the record of Phil Zimmerman, the author of PGP, speaking before a House Sub-Committee. I recommend these files to you. They are well written and very informative. PIR_BBSm is a text file written by Dorothy Brumleve on behalf of the Independent Association of Atari Developers (IAAD) and the entire Atari community. She tells of the investigations of the IAAD into pirate BBS's around the country. The dishonesty and blatent thievery that this article exposes outrages and sickens me. Huge amounts of copyrighted, commercial files are available for downloading on large numbers of pirate boards. I hope the people running and accessing those boards are prosecuted to the full extent of the law! This is a "must-have" file. PPUR37m is Prichard's Pursuer v. 3.7 by Nathan Prichard. This program is a utility designed to work with SprintNet's PC Pursuit service. This will allow you to choose from a list of bulletin board systems to call, will then dial for you and keep a record of the time you have used so you can avoid that VERY expensive 30 hour time cap (+ more). It now includes keyboard equivalents for many of the most used menu items. SHAREWARE. Docs included. Color or mono. PRODUCEMm is a Michtron BBS game in which you play a big time movie producer. MCL source code included, so you can add this online game to your own Michtron 3.0 BBS. QBBS110Cm is the Quick BBS v.1.10C by Jon Webb and Theo Runia (dated 1993). A few of the features which are implemented in the current version: The complete menu system, the menu text and the menu structure are SysOp-configurable, Most of the other text the user sees is SysOp-configurable, Nearly all keys in the BBS are HotKeys, that means the user doesn't have to wait for the menu or to be completed, he just presses the key he wants, Up to 200 message areas, and an unlimited number of file areas, Fully FidoNet compatible, linking your BBS to 20000 others worldwide, Uploads and downloads with Xmodem, Xmodem 1K, Ymodem, Windowed Xmodem and Zmodem, and a powerfull external protocol interface, VT-52 Standard, Monochrome, Color and Ansi graphics modes, New Mail pointers for each user in each area, Online Archiver with support for .ARC and .LZH archives, Language check, uppercase check and quoting in the line editor, Separate front-end for Stand Alone mode includes terminal with dialer, VT-52 and Ansi graphics, File Transfers etc. External programs can be started from within the BBS, providing access to doorgames, utilities and such. Most FoReM and Pandora doorgames can be run, Music with your BBS. Music files included. Extensive docs included. Lots, lots more... This is a limited version in that you need to call the Quick BBS support BBS for a 60 day full version Demo key. If you don't have this key you will not be able to allow anyone to call into your BBS (though you can do everything else). I meg of RAM required, Hard drive recommended. You do need a modem, too! QDIALR13m is Q_Dialer v.1.3 by Quasimodo. It is a GEM program that will allow you to load phone lists and dial them, show the last time you called the selected BBS, auto dial by PC Pursuit nodes, sign on to the BBS you dial, load an external (terminal) program and more. This program replaces the built in routines in QuickBBS ST that scan for mail when a user first logs on to the BBS. To use it, disable the mail scan at log on feature from QCONFIG and set this program to autoexecute from the TOP menu. QPXTERMm is v.0.2 of a beta test version of a terminal program that allows you to send and receive QPX pictures over your modem. In this system a 160 x 100 pixel picture can be received and displayed at 2400 baud in less than 10 seconds. Pictures are monochrome, contain up to 8 grey levels. The full version, which can convert DEGAS pictures to the QPX format, can be obtained from the author. A list of BBS's that support the QPX format is included. Four QPX pictures are included. Color only. ST/STe/TT compatible. Docs included. QROFFm is a very simple text formatting program. Originally written by David Parsons (Orc) to format the STadel BBS program documentation, it takes a text file with embedded formatting commands and outputs it in a form that can be printed as a final document. Similar in a very basic way to the TeX document processor. QSS_100m is the QRT ST Shell v.1.0 by Lonny L. Pursell (dated February 29, 1992). QRT ST Shell is a mouse controlled GEM shell for Quick Ray Trace or QRT for short. QRT does raytracing in 16 million colors on the ST. This is a simple shell for it to make it easier to use. It's really easy to use and you won't have to memorize QRT's command line format. Program shells seem to be a popular thing in the ST community. So why not one for QRT! Requires QRT (from GFA). Color or mono. QSTAT1_1m is QSTAT v1.1 by Bertil Jagard. It generates a comprehensive QuickBBS ST (v.1.06 or higher) statistics file in ASCII, VT52 mono and color, and ANSI. Docs included. QTCOMm by Brian Biggs is a shareware communications program. It features context sensitive help screens, an intelligent dialing directory, print to disk or printer feature, macro keys, text buffer, and more. Requires 1 Meg memory. Documentation included. This is a beta test version (0.11). QWKCISm is QuickCIS by Jim Ness, an ST navigator for users of CompuServe. QuickCis controls an online CompuServe session, from dialing the call, through CompuServe's maze of services, to the eventual end of the call. This will speed your learning the system and minimize the amount of time spent online. Color or mono. Docs included. Well done and useful. QWKLAY10m is the QWK File Layout 1.0 (dated Feb. 23, 1992) by Patrick Lee. This is one of the most comprehensive file on the QWK-format. It covers everything from the format itself, implementation notes, to known mail doors, readers, & utilities that support the QWK format. It also include contact information for many QWK authors. RE_MOTEm is RE_MOTE.BTS for STalker 3.0x modified by R. Morrow so that you don't have to use a password to enter the local echo part of the remote mode. It also shows remote users their location in the system at all times. RSXXMDXXm is the RS232 & MIDI Buffer Expander v.1.1 by Eugene Sothan (dated April 8, 1992). RSXXMDXX is used to set the RS232 and/or MIDI buffer sizes. This program is easily configurable (just change its name!) and is very useful for high-speed modem users and for programs that use the MIDI port. Color or mono. Docs included. RUDE_V10m is the Rude Dog Software Viewer v.1.0, Pure C by Sean P. Price. Rude Dog (RD) will work in any ST/TT resolution (though it will only display text in 80 column or above modes)and will display your ASCII text (much faster than previous versions), VT52, ANSI, Degas .PI? and .PC? images, NeoChrome .NEO images, and Prism Paint .PNT images (all in their appropriate resolutions). It detects ANSI files automatically (great for you BBSers!), and will display them using as many colors as are available. It also fully supports ANSI attributes such as Ghost and Underline. It has separate ANSI fonts for 8 and 16 line font sizes giving you high quality character output. One thing I really like is that this program returns your screen colors to their original form after RD runs. ST-Falcon compatible. Now MultiTOS compatible. Docs included. SHAREWARE ($3-5). RUFUS141m is the Rufus Telecommunications terminal program v.1.41 by Michael Bernards (dated July 21, 1993). You can send the Text you receive to your printer, a disk, or to STeno. Version 2 has been improved with further error checking routines added. Docs. Scribe is 'SainTware' shareware so if you use it and like it, be a SainT and send $5 to the author! SCRIPTm is Moonlite's Script File Editor by Perry Robins. This program was written to bridge the gap between the SPECTRUM 512 pictures and the 'Use Script File' option on the SPSLIDE8.PRG viewer. The only way that the author had seen (before he wrote this program) to create a script file was to type one out on a word processor, and then save it in an ASCII file. Not only is this time consuming, you must know the exact names of the pictures you want and know exactly which folder they are located in. This is fine if you keep all of your pictures in one place. With Script File Editor the job of creating a script file is much faster and simpler. By using the GEM file selector you can pick and choose the pictures and the editor automatically assembles the script file for you. You can add single files, add batches of files, merge existing files, and delete lines from your script files. Also included is the ability to create multi-cluster files with control codes to be used with Trio Engineering's SPSLIDE8.PRG. Color only. Docs include. Works on any ST/STe/TT. SHAREWARE. SEARCH11m is Searcher v1.1 by Todd Johnson (of Cherry Fonts fame) searches through your Aladdin library files for keywords. Great for finding a download without logging onto GEnie (you have to remember to save your library files though!). Color and mono. Runs as an ACC or PRG by renaming the file. Very fast search! Shareware. GFA source code available but not included. This version fixes bugs in the previous version. ST/STe/TT compatible. SERFIX20m is Serial Fix v.2.0 by Medical Designs Software (Bill Penner and Bruce D. Noonan, M.D.). This is a "must have" program for all of you with high speed modems. It more than replaces previous versions and the older program TurboCTS. Serial Fix was written to solve the problem that the ST/STe/ TT/ and even Falcon series of computers has with high speed modems and buffer overflows. Run this and you won't have that problem anymore. And now Serial Fix has gone multipurpose. It is now a universal serial port patch. It incorporates the TOS14FIX and SERPATCH patches from ATARI, so no longer do you need several patch programs. In short, if you have a high speed modem you need this program. Now included is a smaller version that is run from the AUTO folder and does not require Atari's Extensible Control Panel. Docs included. SETTERm is v.2.0 of Jon Emery's STalker BackTalk script which will allow you to set Clear/Home and Type-ahead Parameters. Some systems will send STalker a clear/home signal after each incoming signal. This is a pain because this will clear STalker's scrollback buffer leaving you with no means to backtrack and re-read messages (unless you are using STeno or EdHack as the main capture buffer--something I do all the time). Setter will allow you to fix that problem, pronto (bravo!). The second function of this script is to set the Typeahead Parameter. With this set to ignore STalker will send text from STeno at full speed. With it set to obey STalker will sent text from STeno following the current ascii upload settings. This script is SainT shareware, so be a SainT and send $5 the author (support Shareware!). Docs included. SHADA101m is a patch program by Paul Lee and Michael Vederman that will upgrade your Shadow v.1.00 .ACC to v.1.01 (ie., many improvements). SHDWTERMm is ShadowTerm II by Michel Forget (dated July 1, 1992). This is a very full-featured terminal program. It allows you to chain dial numbers, view online text and re-size your text buffer at will, auto log-on, re-sizable RS232 buffer, the ability to run up to 10 programs by one keypress, a standard GEM interface, and GEM user based X,Y,Z, and YMG transfers. It also allows for up to 30 macros. One other (among many) function is that it allows you to do just about any disk/file function you wish with just the click of a button. Color or mono. Docs included. This demo version is limited to 30 minutes running, then you need to register! ST/STe/TT compatible. SHAREWARE. SMILEYm is the Unofficial Smiley Dictionary. Smileys are those little combination of punctuation marks that can be used on-line to inflect a sarcastic or joking statement since voice inflections can't be heard. Two examples are the Basic smiley :-) and the Winky smiley ;-). The fun part is reading the descriptions! SMP_052Bm is Semper Beta v. 0.52b by Jan Kriesten (dated Dec. 16, 1993). Semper is another (other than Binkley Term) NetWork Mailer available for the Atari. It has a pile of features and is easy to use. Some of those features are: 1. Semper is a Gem Program & will run in a Multitasking enviroment. 2. ST/STE/Mega/MegaSTE/Falcon/TT Compatible (Requires 1 meg RAM or more) 3. Utilizes Mouse for point and click operation (Hot Keys also available) 4. Easy to Configure & set-up basic operation. 5. Supports baud rates above 19,200 (ST/STE require HardWare modification) 6. Supports Multiple domains. 7. EMSI negotiation is very quick which results in reduced on-line time. 8. Supports alternate program for receiving Faxes (ie:BT-FAX) 9. Supports HYDRA Bi-directional transfer protocal. 10.AtariNET uses Semper, so you're sure to have lots of company! Semper is ShareWare: you can still try out the program first the only thing is when the program is first run it will bring up a dialog box asking you to register, plus HYDRA and FAX Support will not be operational. You don't need to worry about support for this program. The programmer is keeping busy supporting it! When you register you encourage him to do even more! Excellent docs. STALKER8m is the complete transcript from the Atari Roundtables on GEnie of the STALKER category (# 17, topic 3) from Nov. 19, 1992 to Jan. 10, 1993. STalker 3 is the telecommunications .ACC/.PRG I use all the time (along with STeno 2) and so I found these discussions facinating. STALKER9m is the complete transcript of the STalker telecommunications .PRG/.ACC from Strata Software and Gribnif topic on GEnie and the Atari Roundtables. It dates from January 11, 1993 through March 19, 1993. I use STalker all the time and love it! STALKY11m is STalky v.1.1 by Paul Lefebvre (dated August 11, 1993). This is a desk accessory (or program) that gives STalker, the excellent telecommunications package from Gribnif Software, a type ahead buffer. The type ahead buffer is three lines consisting of 232 characters each to be entered. It only uses 15K of RAM. Keyboard controlled. ST/STe/TT (and probably Falcon) compatible. This now works with Geneva, the multi-tasking resource from Gribnif, as well as Atari's MultiTOS (a few bug fixes from v.1.0). Color or mono. Docs included. STARNETm is STar-Net v.0.9 by Eric Drewry. It is a BBS program with multiple access levels, auto message deletion, baud detection and more. Docs included. This program has been updated (so the author promised) so you might wish to check it out to see if you want to register (if you like it now you'll like the update even better). STCP_IPm is a set of programs and files that comprise PE1CHL's version of KA9Q InterNet Protocol Package. Lots of docs, but they are the kind that mean something only when you already know most of what you need to know. As far as I can figure out this is a system that allows you to link your ST via HAM radio equipment to other computer systems and transmit messages back and forth. Information on radio equipment needed and stations "on-line" are also included. TSO 1.0-2.06 compatible (at least). 1.04 meg uncompressed (in two archives so you can uncompress on to a floppy). STFTPINFm is a listing by Hallvard Tangeraas of Oslo, Norway of the InterNet FTP sites for the Atari ST/TT/Falcon series of computer (dated May 26, 1994). Sites are listed world-wide, and detailed instructions for downloading files are included, too! Recommended if you want to access the InterNet. Toad Hall. STK2QBBSm v.1.04 (dated Sept. 9, 1993), by Rich Tietjens, is a utility that will allow ST-Keep SysOps to create and use the file search control file (FILES.BBS) used by "Latest Files Announcer" (LFA, by Robert Darling) to create your own FILES.BBS list for each of your designated ST-Keep download areas. LFA will then read the FILES.BBS lists and create a nice message in a Fido-style message base, telling your users about the latest files on your BBS. Docs and LFA v.0.32 (dated June 13, 1993) are included. STKCLEANm is ST-Keep Cleanup v.1.2, a program by Rich Tietjens and Grunt Software (dated September 9th--a very good date, being it is my birthday!) that is designed to work with the ST-Keep software package for your BBS. IAll it does is compare the contents of your \FILES\ folders with the associated download folders, and when it finds a description for a non-existent file, it deletes the description. The program uses alert boxes and plain text to keep you up-to-date on its progress and ask for your input. It comes in both a TTP and GEM version. You only need this is you have ST-Keep, that excellent Shareware BBS program. Docs and .BAS source code included. STKEEP57 is the ST-Keep Bulletin Board System v.5.7c by Andrew P. Studer (dated July 10, 1994). At first, ST-Keep appears to be a Citadel (room based) type bulletin board system. However, once you begin working with it, you will notice that it takes on a very unique appearance of its own along with adding a great many features not found in Citadel programs. This will run on either a color or mono system, only requires 512K RAM (but you are limited with less than 1 MEG in your choices) and a Hard Drive is absolutely recommended (though you can get by with floppy drives). This program allows up to 32,000 users, 32,000 rooms, 32,000 messages per room, 255 floors, 255 doors (for on-line games, other BBS's), ANSI, VT-52, IGS and ASCII graphics support! Supports Xmodem CRC, Xmodem 1K, Ymodem Batch, Zmodem Batch, download ratios and more! Fido networking, FidoDoor, and BinkleyTerm support. Modem transfers up to 14,400 baud (using XYZ201, included here, this time along with the docs). Unfortunately while he included the following programs he didn't include the docs for them: for LZH201G [a Shareware program], ZIPJr, and FOLDERXXX. I know that the author of ST ZIP has asked specifically that only his complete archive be distributed. It's only reasonable to distribute the documentation for programs--especially shareware program!. Would someone tell this guy to get on the ball and quit encouraging people to steal software (which in effect he is doing for those shareware programs)! Maybe next version he'll do right for those authors! Let's hope. It seems that this program will do just about anything you need a BBS to do. SHAREWARE (constantly supported) with no feature disabled. Docs included. STKR3DEMm is the STalker 3 Demo from STrata Software and Gribnif. STalker is a _wonderful_ telecommunications program that allows you to do file transfers in "the background," which means you can be uploading or downloading files files while working on another project on your computer. Of course, it has all the standard beeps and whistles (and MORE--like a complete scripting language included!). I use this to the exclusion of any other telecommuncation program. I could go on and on telling you about all the features this program (runs as an .ACC as well) has, but I won't. Just get this if you use a modem, or if you are considering using a modem! Save disabled as well as disabled is some other ways, but without hindering its usefulness as a full demo. Color or mono. Any ST/STe/TT. STKRPATm is a patch for to turn your STalker v.3.0 program into v.3.01. 3.01 has faster file transfers, supports the Atari Clipbard format, BackTalk revisions, bug fixes and general improvments. Requires an orginal STalker 3 disk. STKRPTCHm is the STalker 3.00 to 3.01 Patch Program from Gribnif. This program will upgrade STalker version 3.00 to version 3.01. It will ONLY upgrade version 3.00. Docs included. STKR_302m is the STalker 3.01 to 3.02 Patch Program from Gribnif. This program will upgrade STalker version 3.01 to version 3.02. It will ONLY upgrade version 3.01. Also included is version 1.00 of SERIALFX, a program that will allow high speed modem users to get the most out of their modems (the newest version of SERIALFX is in the MODEM category). STKR_KITm is the Stalker Kit by Gordon R. Meyer of DO NOT STAMP Software. It contains two utilities for use with STalker. They are: STalker Toggle v.1.0 (dated April 23, 1993). This is a small utility program for use with the STalker3 telecommunications desk accessory from Gribnif and Strata Software. Toggle simply instructs a currently loaded copy of STalker3 to enable or disabled itself. This allows you to automatically set the status of Stalker prior to running another program which requires exclusive use of the serial port Stalker is using. It may be run from the desktop, but is best used with a CLI or shell that allows 'chaining' of programs. STalker STuffr v.1.5 (dated April 23, 1993). This is a small utility that instructs a currently loaded copy of STalker3 to load and execute a BackTALK script. This allows you to execute BackTALK scripts of all types without having to open the STalker3 window and select the script manually. It also allows for automation of STalker tasks through the use of a CLI or similar batch-style program scheduler. Finally, users of HotWire can use Stuffr to create Ledger entries for sessions involving the STalker3 desk accessory. Stuffr can be executed from the desktop, a CLI, or a shell such as HotWire. STMODEMm is an easy to use modem program. Color or mono. No documentation. STORM100m is Storm v.1.00 by Alan Page (the author of the original Flash! telecommunications program). Alan Page has continued and expanded the programming tradition he began with Flash! and has produced the long-awaited Storm. Storm is a shareware GEM-based terminal that operates in a window (with pull-down menus and hotkeys). Custom font and text routines make this program zip along! You will find multiple editing windows (with word wrap!) and your capture buffer windows are moveable and resizable. With MultiTOS or Geneva the number of windows is limited only by available memory. It comes with a powerful script language (an interpreted Basic, with lots of sample files) with a full- screen editor, online help, and command extensions for telecommunica- tion. You will find a lot of up-front power in this program, but there is a lot going on behind the scenes as well. Things like background file transfers that don't require a reset-proof RAMdisk, background dialing, multiple terminal emulations (presently TTY , VT100, and Vidtex), and MUCH more are all supported. You can transfer files using Ascii (built-in), BPlus, Xmodem, Ymodem, and Zmodem. Storm even supports the extra serial ports on TT and MegaSTE as well as Falcon serial ports. Color or mono. Docs included. If you order this file please also order SPATCH01 (the STorm v.1.00-1.02 patch file), SPATCH02, and ZMPTCH01 (the STorm Z-Modem file transfer module patch). That way you will get the most recent version. SHAREWARE (with an interesting incentive to register--a $3 discount on a Suzy B's Software disk, plus free catalog!). Wow! 715K uncompressed. SPATCH01m by Alan Page is the first patch program for this STorm telecommunications program. It will take STorm 1.00 and make it into STorm v.1.01. It requires STORM100 to be useful. Docs are included. Get this if you have STorm (see STORM100 for details about all this SHAREWARE program will do!). Keep it too, as the patch utility in this will be used for any future patches as well. SPATCH02m by Alan Page is the patch file to take his (your) Storm v.1.01 to v.1.02. In order to use this patch file you must have already patched Storm to version 1.01. If you use Storm (an excellent program!) you should get this file! It has several bug fixes and program enhancements. See STORM100 and SPATCH01 for related files). ZMPTCH01m is the newest patch to STORM (the Excellent Shareware terminal program by Alan Page). This patch fixes the Storm Z-Modem file transfer module. In order to use this you must have the program STORM100 (the original release of STorm) and the STorm v.1.00-1.02 patch file (SPATCH01 and SPATCH02). STORM_2m is the complete transcript from Oct. 18, 1993 through Nov. 17, 1993 from the STorm Telecommunications Topic on GEnie and the Atari Roundtables. STorm is Alan Page's newly released Shareware telecommunications program for all ST-Falcon machines. It's excellent, and this topics tells you all about it. The discussion continues in Category 8, Topic 2 on GEnie. STORM_3m is the complete transcript of the Storm telecommunications program Topic on GEnie and the Atari Roundtables. The discussion runs from Nov.15, 1993 through Feb. 26, 1994. Storm, by Alan Page (the original programmer of Flash 1) is an excellent program. It's shareware, and I recommend that you check it out! The discussion continues in Category 8 Topic 2 of the GEnie. STRIP1m is STrip 0.95 by Lars Kupferschlger (dated 1993). This is the first terminal program for the Atari ST that supports the new Remote Imaging Protocol (RIP) found on many IBM Bulletin Boards. RIP has been developed by TeleGraphics, a USA Company and is a 7-bit ASCII transfer protocol for color graphics, mouse control and more. This has been designed to work on mono systems only and will not work with any graphic cards. How can a mono system adequately display the RIP colors? Well, it's difficult, but because of the resolution required by RIP (at least 640 * 350 pixels) it must be run in ST mono. It works though! If you call IBM boards then this program is for you! Docs included. Shareware. STQWK111m is ST-QWK v.1.11 by David Blanchard and James Armstrong, III (dated March 31, 1993). This is an offline mail door for all of you SysOps who use Express, RatSoft, ST-Keep, Forem, or just about any BBS that passes command line parameters (and he has included a utility that will allow even those BBS's that DON'T pass command line parameters to work) and that use the FidoDoor program 3.0 and up by Bryan Hall. This program will allow people to compress and download packets of messages for reading off-line. Your users can then write their replies and upload them the same way. This can save a tremendous amount of time and money for your users and free up lots of BBS time for more callers to log on and write messages and use your BBS! Docs included. SHAREWARE. STRTTYm is an amateur radio RTTY program for the Atari ST by Wayne E. Wright. Color or mono, it has the following capabilities: 1. BAUDOT (60, 75, & 100 WPM) & ASCII (110 & 300 Baud); 2. Variable size split Screen--Drag the MOVE bar on the transmit window to change size Type ahead to transmit window during receive; 3. Write Sessions to disk Received and transmitted characters are written to disk in the order they occur on the air; 4. Read disk files into transmit buffer; 5. Desk accessory support. NOTE--received characters are written to receive window even while desk accessory is active; 6. Limited line editing for transmitting. (delete back to beginning of current line), and 7. Drop down menus are used for most functions. The author says that it should work on a TOS versions, but I'm not sure. Let us know, OK? Thanks. ST_TERMm is a formerly commercial, now SHAREWARE telecommunication program by Matt Singer. This program is packed with features, X, Y, and Y modem batch protocols, capture buffer, autodialing, ANSI and VT52 emulation built in, and much more. Color or mono. Docs included. SYSIN160m is SYSINFO v.1.60 by David Troy of Toad Computers (dated April, 1994). This freeware program will check out your modem for compatibility with STraight FAX! available through Toad Computers. Now even compatible with more modems than ever before (including the modem I had!). Not content to just check for STraight FAX! compatibility, this program will also inspect and report on your entire system configuration -- everything from your TOS version to your GDOS version to your AUTO folder, some obscure TSR's and cookies (in the cookie jar). The program will save the results of all these texts in an ASCII text file, now also allowing you to add your own name, address, STraight FAX! registration number, and more (in case you need to send it into TOAD). ST/STE/TT/ Falcon/Gemulator compatible (MultiTOS and Geneva, too). Color or mono. TOAD Computers is a dealer which not only sells fine equipment and software--they give it away as well. Their service is much appreciated. TAZ_100m is TAZ v.1.00 by Daryl Richards and Kevin Tessner of Neat and Nifty Software (dated Feb. 6, 1994). TAZ is a full featured terminal program for the Atari ST based loosely off of Telix for the IBM PC. This program is designed to combine good emulation, broad protocol support, ease of use, and a decent running speed into a single package. TAZ has a very nice capture/edit buffer, can access a nice ANSI emulation mode in 640 x 200, 16 color res., provides you with a load of upload/ download protocals, the ability to run external programs, and gives you extensive docs (online help, too). According to the docs the program file should include Alan Hamilton's XYZ201B transfer program, but someone left it out of the archive on Delphi and GEnie. The author also asks that BBS ads not be placed in the archive, and if found there that they be deleted. I deleted one. Such consideration on the part of that BBS! Color only. ST (even a 520ST!)-TT compatible (someone says that it won't work on a Falcon, but the docs seem to indicate that it will). Not MultiTOS compatible (but works fine with Geneva). Shareware. TBBSm is a STalker 3 BackTalk script file by Bob Morrow for a crude off-line reader (no reply capabilities yet) for TBBS-style bulletin board systems (to use the author's own words). This was designed around a local system running v2.? of TBBS. This requires STeno (or EdHac) for the capture buffer. TC_UTILm by John Hickey is a program utility he wrote to make his post-download activities easier, with utilities for de-arcing, copying files, erasing files, renaming files, formatting disks, viewing ASCII files, and making and deleting folders. Color or mono. SHAREWARE. TELEBA18m is Telebase v.1.8 by Ray Mattera is a fully GEM-based phone/fax number manager for ST, STe and TT computers. It aids users in storing and retrieving phone/fax numbers, dialing the numbers (modem required!), and keeping important notes with each number. It's full of nice features and a user friendly interface. I especially like it because with this version the author allows distribution by PD companies like Suzy B's Software (though, really, there's no one like us!). He is the one who has given us, and you, "a honey of a deal." Thanks Ray! TELE_MONm is the Telephone Monitor Documentation v.1.00 by Lonny Pursell and ENCOM (dated 1993). This little program records phone calls while you are away. It's sort of a poor mans version of caller ID. :^) Some people don't have caller ID in their area (like me) or perhaps can't afford the feature even if it was offered. Simply run this little program and it will record the date, time, and number of rings per call to your phone while you are away. ST--TT compatible in all resolutions. TELGLOSSm is a glossary of terms commonly used by telecommunications enthusiasts, as well as words specific to offline mail reading and Bulletin Board Systems. This is a very useful source of information! TERM4m is Kerry's Term a very good terminal program that supports Zmodem, Ymodem-G, more. Color or mono. Limited Docs. TG_EMULm is the Thieves' Guild emulator by Herb Flower and Robert Fletcher. Thieves' Guild is an excellent door game for your BBS. It creates for you a world of Ancient Legends, Powerful Wizards, Mysterious Magic, Valiant Knights, Glamorous Treasures and Quests, but most of all, a cunning world of Thievery! (See THIEVES in this category for the complete description.) When you use this program you will not only be able to play the game (as you did with just the THIEVES archive) but you will then be able to play the game with excellent Graphics, Animation, Sound, and increased Speed. If you want to play THIEVES, I recommend this file to you as well. Docs included. 649K uncompressed. THIEVESm is Thieves' Guild, an excellent door game for your BBS. It creates for you a world of Ancient Legends, Powerful Wizards, Mysterious Magic, Valiant Knights, Glamorous Treasures and Quests, but most of all, a cunning world of Thievery! At the start you are transported from this world to the world of Latrocinio--a one-way no-return transfer, or so you are told. Entering into the Guild of Thieves (that world's welcoming committee) you are trained and sent off to support the work of the Guild. But your real goal is to return to this world and your family. From reading the docs this seems to be one whale of a program. I know that I would play it if I saw it on a BBS! This program is Shareware, and the registered version is Much more complete. This is to whet your appetite. Check out TG_EMUL (see above) which will add excellent Graphics, Animation, Sound, and speed to your users playing Thieves. 361K uncompressed. TIMEFINDm is a program that calculates the number of blocks, and Xmodem transfer times at various baud rates. This can help you to figure out how long it takes to download that LONG file (HINT-- don't download it yourself--tell us and we will download it for you!) TLBB1_5m is The Little Black Book *1.5* . This accessory will allow you to store the BBS's Name, number, the name of the sysop, the system Password, and your password. Color or mono. Works Great with Flash. By Robert Coccaro. TLINK373m is TripLinK! v.3.73 by Mike Caldwell (the most recent date I can find is June 5, 1992). This is a FEDBBS (a "Front End Development Bulletin Board System"). While this IS a comprehensive BBS (supporting Instant Graphics, VT-52 and ANSI graphics) it is NOT just a BBS. It is a Complete Front End System Manager for your ST Computer. Most other BBS programs don't allow you to use your ST for anything else when they are running. This BBS lacks that "feature." You can call other programs, access the menu bar and accessories, and more--all while running the BBS. It also will help you to manage your files, uncompressing files, searching for specific words in files and searching for the files themselves. The author has tried to make this as user-friendly to configure and start as he possibly could. Mouse and keyboard controlled. Docs written by a programmer, not a writer (in the author's own words!). Uncompresses to 775K. Color or mono. TOS 1.0--1.62 compatible (and least but probably more--I just can't find it mentioned). TODAY20Bm is TODAYS v.2.00b by Chuck Grimsby (dated March 1993). TODAYS is a program to display events and occurances on a date in history when someone calls your BBS. You also need the data file which is TODAYDAT in this same catalog. This version includes more options, an all new command structure that's faster and easier to use, and a number of bug fixes. Docs included. This new version fixes some bugs in v.2.00 plus adds some new features. 183K uncompressed. TODAYDATm is the data file for TODAY196 by Chuck Grimsby. Use this file in conjunction with TODAY 196 to display events and occurances on a date in history when someone calls your BBS. Even if you don't have a BBS this file might still be of interest to you. It is ASCII text so you can read about something that happened for each day of the year--all on your own! Interesting stuff. TRNSDEMOm is the complete formerly shareware now freeware version of the Transcendence BBS v.2.4.01 by Wayne Watson (dated Feb. 19, 1994). If you are ever thinking of setting up a BBS (a tremendous amount of work--BBS SysOps are the saints of the computer world in my opinion!) this program would be well worth your investigation. It works on any ST-TT with at least one meg of RAM (2.5 meg of RAM and TOS 1.4 or better is better, of course). The program and support files require at least 20 meg of Hard Drive space as well. Note, this archive's name implies that this file is a demo. It is NOT. It's the full-blown version released by the author. Thanks! (Send him money anyway!). (If you want this file all by itself with nothing else on the disk just send us $4 and tell us you want the special single file deal for this file). TTERM212m is Teddy-TERM v2.12 by M.J.Matts (dated sometime early 1994) Teddy-TERM is a complete communications terminal for the Atari ST, STE, TT & Falcon030. Supporting full 16 colour ANSI & VT52 emulation (in minimum 16 colour 640x200 screen modes) with intelligent ANSI emulation in 4 or 2 colour modes, Teddy-TERM is a breeze to use (and pretty, too!). Teddy-TERM v1.x originally started life as a simple shell program to allow you to use external protocols such as XYZ.TTP and Jekyll easily from within Vanterm, but since then it has grown and developed into a fully functional (no crippled at all) Shareware communications terminal program. It is simple enough that first-time modem users can navigate their way through it, and yet adaptable enough for the power-user as well. Mouse and/or keyboard controlled (both for all functions). Contains a nice capture buffer, features auto-logon features (with a feature that allows T-Term to learn your own logon information and use it in the future--VERY Nice!), runs external programs, access installed .ACC, use fonts other than the system font, the internal online alarm and connect alarm sounds can now be replaced with a sample if you have a machine with DMA sound capabilities, and much more. Requires XYZ202 (by Alan Hamilton, and included in this file) and Jekyll for transfers using those protocals. One meg or more of Free RAM required. Extensive docs included. Geneva compatible. Color or mono (extended res. cards, too). TUBORSm is the demo release of the TurboRS package from Neat and Nifty. TurboRS itself is a hardware upgrade for the Atari ST line of computers which boosts the maximum baud rate of the ST serial port (TT Modem1) to 115200 baud (from about 19K baud!). This release is meant to demonstrate TurboRS functionality, and also to provide a reference for programmers who wish to support it. The TurboRS hardware is required to use the extended baud rates supported by this package (and it's only $40 CN!). Docs on just how this works are included. (Different from TURBO_SW) TURBO_SWm is the Turbo Board BBS v.1.0 by William J. Miller of Bitblit Systems, the SHAREWARE version of the FNET BBS system. This full-featured BBS has Doors, Crossnet Message Bases, FNET Bases and will work fine with Binkley Term, Fido, Fidodoor and the Fido mailer. Check it out if you are thinking about starting a BBS (or if you already have one). Docs included. TUWIENm is Tuwien v.1.22, a complete UUCP Package from the TU University of Vienna for the Atari ST. There are no docs, but source code and a variety of programs and accessories are included. Some of the programs state that an "ethernet card is not installed" when I run them, implying that there is an ethernet card for the ST. Hmmm.... An .IMG file entitled ADAPTER.IMG is included. That's all I can tell you about this file! ST-TT compatible. Toad Hall. TWSANSI1m is ANSITerm v.1.0 by Timothy Miller. This is one of the best ANSI emulations availiable! Docs included. Here are some of its features: o ANSITerm is a 100% ANSI VT-102 compatible terminal that supports full 16 colors and blinking text, with 80 columns. o Supports X-modem, Y-modem, and Z-modem transfers (using XYZ.TTP by Alan Hamilton--you must supply this) o Full mouse support and menu bars o AutoDialer with separate options (line-feeds, local echo, etc.) for every entry. Also included in this file is the author's ATASCII emulator ver. 2.5. Now you can completely emulate an Atari 8-bit terminal program. SHAREWARE. TXTSNDRm is v.1.0 of a STalker BackTalk script (.BTK) by Jon Emery (dated Feb. 25, 1994) which will allow you to attach any text file quickly and easily to any E-mail or online postings you send. This is very handy for those header, signature, and return addresses which your regularly send. Using this script will allow you to do it with just a button push from TXTSNDR's alert box. STaintWare (you're a saint if you send something to him!). Docs included. TYPEAHEDm by Paul Lefebvre is a simple type ahead buffer for Stalker 3. It is a BackTALK script. Docs included. T_SPLITZm is TURBO SplitZ v.1.0 M.J.Matts (dated 1992). SplitZ is, as the name suggests, a split screen chat program for using with TurboBoard. It comes with the usual features of many good chat programs but with a few other features never found in any other chat program before. Many of the features available are SysOp configurable so it can be set up to suit your own tastes, and possibly that of your users! The standard features include allowing the SysOp to jump to a CLI program from within SplitZ, logging the chat to a text file, switching off uppercase characters, dropping the line on the user plus many others. The 'EXTRA' features found in SplitZ include the ability to show a text file to a users from within the chat, a 'fun' mode that can be easily switched on and off and the ability to instantly upload or download a file while chatting. Color or mono. Docs included. UNITERMm is UniTerm v.2.0e 011 by Simon Poole (dated Feb. 26, 1989). This is a truely excellent terminal program that suports VT100, VT102, VT220, and 4010 Graphics terminals. GEM based, it allows you to use X, Y, and Kermit protocals, and allows you to run external programs like Alan Hamilton's XYZ201 for Z-modem downloading. It's fast, easy to use and full-featured. If you don't have a terminal program you should seriously consider checking this one out. It is an excellent program. All the files you need are included. This archive also includes EXGEM, Don Rice's program that will convert normal metafile (i.e., UniTerm's GEM metafiles) to Easy-Draw conversion program. Lots of docs included. TOS 1.0-1.62 compatible (at least). 684K uncompressed. USCAN10m is U-Scan - The upload file scanner for QuickBBS-ST by John Carolin and Keyop Troy. U-Scan's job in life is to prevent users uploading a file that is already in one of your download areas. There is nothing more annoying for a sysop than to sit back and watch a user uploadng a 200k file at 1200 baud that you know you already have. If you are a SysOp using Quick BBS-ST then this file is for you! Docs included. USENETm is a series of articles telling you many of the in's and out's of using Usenet. What is it? How does it operate? How do you connect to it? USENET is a large collection of computers that share data with each other. It is the people on these computers that make USENET worth the effort to read and maintain, and for USENET to function properly those people must be able to interact in productive ways. Also included are lots of phone numbers to call to connect with USENET. If you have questions about Usenet, this file is for you! UUCODEm is an UUENCODE/DECODE .ACC by Matt Kimmel. UUCODE is an .ACC written to allow you to UUENCODE and UUDECODE files while using any GEM application. Version 1.1. Docs included. VANTRM40m is version 4.0 of VANTERM, the excellent terminal program by Wm. A. Van Nest, Sr. (dated Dec. 10, 1991). This excellent SHAREWARE terminal program has again been updated and improved. It allows you to do WX,X,Y,Z modem transfers, Compuserve B, VT-52 emulation and allows you to access SHADOW (formerly Antic's, now Double Click Software's Background file transfer .ACC) directly from within the program. It also allows you to run external programs from within itself. Color or mono. This program is amazingly easy to use, has outstanding features and is well worth your checking out! It does practically everything. It's pretty, too. Docs included and also extensive on-line help. SHAREWARE. VE_21m is the new upgrade to the Vulcan Embassy BBS program version 2.1 by Timothy M. Garay (dated February 21, 1993). This is a full-featured and supported BBS for all of you would-be SysOps out there. This program will run on an Atari ST system with any memory size (the more the merrier!), baud rate, printer, disk space, and now any modem (non-hayes compat as well) Now allowing up to 14 message bases with an unlimited number of messages (you choose how many), this BBS also includes a text editor for messages, e-mail, and file descriptions (up to 10 lines of file descriptions instead of only 5!). Online games (ten included) now run as external programs (increasing compatibility with the other online games). Many other features as well. This BBS is very SysOp friendly, too. Just reading the docs I see many features that I wish many other BBS's had (and I see a lot of BBS's!). I recommend this to you. ST-TT compatible (in ST rez). Run from a floppy or hard drive. Docs and support files included. This version has a few bugs fixed since version 2.0. This file contains the full program and support files (the program came as an update to v.2.0, but I combined the files from v.2.0 and this together, so all you need is included). SHAREWARE. 715K uncompressed. VIDCOLm is a program that creates color Vidtex (RLE) graphics that may be viewed using FLASH terminal program on an ST with a color monitor. ST. It allows you to view your Callers Log in "Reverse Order" with the Last Caller displayed first. You can page through the list at any time. This program does not write to any file, so you can use it with confidence. Docs included. VT100C12m v.1.2 by Robert Adam II emulates a VT100* terminal with advanced video option (i.e. four character attributes, 24 lines of 132 columns in addition to the normal VT100* capabilities). It uses XMODEM file transfer with either checksum or CRC. It runs as either a program or an accessory. Color or mono. Docs included. VT52EDITm is a VT-52 Graphics Editor. Brief docs included as well as help within the program. Color or mono. By Jon Taylor. WAITTIMEm is Wait_Time ST from DO NOT STAMP (tm) Software. Wait_Time ST is a utility for the ST/STE/TT. It is designed for use from a command line or shell environment, and provides a means to schedule the execution of programs at specified times during the day. Wait_Time was initially designed to be used with HotWire from CodeHead Software. By using HotWire's "chaining" feature you can utilize Wait_Time to introduce a delay anywhere in a series of programs. For example you might use it to start a chain, during the wee-hours of the morning, to run QuickCIS and/ or Aladdin. ( Hint: You can use Wait_Time more than once in the chain, use HotWire to pass it different times automatically by including the "~" character in the command line. See your HotWire manual for details.) Of course, Wait_Time is also compatible with various CLI's, shells, and probably any other program that will let you designate a list of programs to run. Color or mono. Docs included. WHOSDEREm is "Who's There?" a SupraFAXModem Caller ID Utility v.0.1 by Gordon R. Meyer of DO NOT STAMP Software (dated Jan. 1., 1994). This program has been designed to function with the SupraFAXModem equipped with Caller ID (maybe other modems, too, but that's not been tested). If your phone system is equipped with Caller ID this program will intercept that information, display it on-screen, and then save it to an ASCII file. It works as either an .ACC or a .PRG (the author recommends you use it as a program). It uses the Modem 1 port of the ST/TT line. Not Falcon compatible. Color or mono. Docs included. WLAF_20m is the World League of Axolotl Football, v.1.0 (?) (dated May 12, 1991) by D. Nelson. This is a smaller version of AFL_88, an online BBS football game. With only 10 teams (vs. 28 on AFL_88) this version plays much the same but is more useful for BBS's that don't see a lot of game activity. With only ten teams you can fill up the available slots. Sometimes this is harder with 28 teams. This game will work with Forem, BBS Express, Starnet or almost most any ST board having game doors. This individual caller coaches his or her team, and trys to take the team all the way to the Axotol Bowl. The game is easy to set up, challenging to play and fun! Color or mono. Docs included. SHAREWARE. XPROGSm is a set of programs that allow you to transfer files to and from your computer using X Modem protocol. They were designed by Jason Blochowiak to be used with the Atari VT52 emulation .ACC that you get with your ST so you can have X modem transfers without buying a terminal program. XYZ201m is v. 2.01 is the newest version of this EXCELLENT SHAREWARE XYZ modem software by Alan Hamilton. With this software you will see the bytes left to transfer, the percent transferred, the characters per second for both the current block and the average for the whole file, plus the estimated time left for the transfer. This is one super program. I use it all the time (and yes, I have registered it!). XYZ311m is XYZSHELL v.3.3 by Ken Cheek. This program is a GEM shell for Alan Hamilton's XYZ.TTP v.2.0 telecommunications program. With this shell you can easily upload/download using X Y and/or Z modem protocals. If you hate command lines with all the typing and remembering commands that go along with them, this SHAREWARE program is for you. Docs included. YBATCHm is a Ymodem Batch Transfer .ACC (v.1.1) by David B. Chiquelin. This is a simple desk accessory, that allows you to use Ymodem Batch to download your files. You simply mark the files you want to receive, then select Ymodem Batch download, and the BBS will send them all, and the receiving terminal program will save them on your disk with the same names as on the BBS. Easy! ZMDMm is a file that allows you to send/receive files using Xmodem/ Xmodem-CRC /Xmodem-1K/Ymodem or Zmodem protocols. In addition it provides UNIX csh like command for your convenience, and does (TOS style) wild-card handling, and (only single) quoting of arguments. Color or mono. Docs included. (But, I like XYZ201 better.) By Jwahar Bammi. ZSHEL10Zm is ZShell v.1.0Z by Doyle C. Helms Jr.. This is a shell program for XYZ 2.1 by Starfall (Alan Hamilton) that uses the ZeST Interface. This shell only provides ZModem tranfer options. A later Shareware version will provide all options offered in XYZ 2.1. Color or mono. Docs included. If you use XYZ 2.1 (and you should!) this is a very useful program for you. \Up\M$·=Դ nK" ɿS2ھaf[@o womٖq΅ '-آiˎqx><fzk}|@9B-.FNqN=U@ǂfF眼DN >k_0Rny"߽ Xlϖ$ ĠQXnkf"|V qY?4N,`zz_zB̈,֚F˄ kBp niW'9'#ܢN_,8$20 g@"Կz?#9jg0;pAB \k쥼1}iϏ+>`[ ~KG2P&&R`@woAol<ȨF߁YSLB8r~ƔTsI.9ojX+/#[)YMODS is a category full of NoiseTracker and SoundTracker (and others) .MOD files. .MOD files are sound and music files that originally stemmed from the Amiga computer world. They produce an excellent and detailed sound. I can only say that people who have some .MODS are always looking for more. The player programs begin this file, and I recommend that you get them all. Some .MODs cannot be played on one player or another. If you don't get them all I especially recommend JUKEBX14 and PAULA21B for most .MOD files (but see below for many other players). I have not had time to catalog all of the .MOD files I have downloaded in the past months. Those I have cataloged are listed first, while those I have not yet cataloged are listed nearer the end of this file. Those files not cataloged just have a name and a file size (some at best have a very brief description. Order those files just as you would any other. The descriptions will have to wait until the next catalog. DO YOU want to write some descriptions? If you really want to win my lasting gratitude just send me some descriptions of the undescribed files and I'll send you some of my new favorite files. March. 1995 Catalog The "CD Issue 2" Suzy B's Software 3712 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY 14305 716-298-1986 AGTK12md is the AG-Tracker (American Gold Tracker) v.1.2 by Ron Debug (dated Nov. 1992). This .MOD player will play single or multiple (jukebox) songs. You can easily cause a song or album (the ability to create "albums" is nice!) to repeat or to quit at the end of the song or album. It has a pleasing screen display and a simple graphic animation showing the various .MOD voices as they are played. This player will work on an ST or STE (with the STE you have control over the volume\bass\treble controls and you can get DMA sound). Mouse and keyboard controlled. Color only. Docs in a text file with help online as well. BKTRK404md is Backtrack v.4.04 by Karl Anders ygard, the author of ProTracker ST (see PT_20S in the Suzy B's MOD category). BackTrack is an program that will play any standard >Soundtracker 2.2 or Pro/ Noisetracker module in the background (multitasking under Geneva or MultiTOS). The program may also be run as an accessory which makes it "multitasking" all the time! The playback frequency can be controlled by clicking the '6.259 kHz', '12.517 kHz', '25.036 kHz' or '50.072 kHz' buttons. When clicked, playback will be immediately set to the corresponding frequency. Higher frequency gives better sound, but requires more processor time (you had better have an accelerated STe if you choose the 50.072kHz mode--or a TT). There are LOTS of other features in this excellent program. Docs included. I recommend it to you! CDPLAYERmd is an amazing NoiseTracker/SoundTracker .MOD player for STE's. This emulates a CD player stacked on top of an amplifier. It has most of the basic controls you'd expect on a CD player: horizontal light meters for left and right channels as well as four vertical light meters that emulate a graphics equalizer. The graphics this program produces are awsome. The entire layout is extremely well done, and the lights are VERY realistic. Plays up to 32 .MODs consecutively! This is a must-have for any STE owner with a COLOR MONITOR. (Mono NOT supported!) Tested on a STE. Will not work on a TT. Must run from a floppy. DTMT101 is the DeskTracker MultiTask .ACC/.PRG v.1.01 by David Oakley (dated April 22, 1993). This .ACC for the STe/TT will allow you to play NoiseTracker modules in the background with an animated graphic display of the tune. It operates like a CD player allowing you to load, play, reset your tunes, set up a playlist, and more using the 3-D buttons or keyboard controls.. You can play at 6, 12, 25, or 50 KHz (50 KHz is only available on accelerated machines). This did a good job of playing in the background. While it slowed up my 8 MHz system (it speeds up quite a bit with my T-25 accelerator board running), it was still possible to do other work. Docs included. SHAREWARE. JUKEBX14md is JukeBox v.1.4 by Klaus Pedersen. Jukebox is an .ACC/.PRG to play Noisetracker modules (MOD's) and SEGM files in the background. It is fully compatible with NoiseTracker v.2.0 files from the Amiga. SEGM files were first used in the PD program NT_COMP. NT_COMP can be used to convert 'MOD' files into SEGM format. SEGM files don't use the processor (much) when playing, that can NOT be said about a 'MOD' player. This program will ALWAYS play the .MOD at the correct speed, and will allow you to play a stereo sound in mono (for better quality) if you wish. The sound quality is excellent, the included utilities that allow you to poke around inside your .MOD files and edit them are very useful, and the program is easy to use. This version has all reported bugs fixed and is full of useful features. Also, it's FREE! Any STe/TT/ Falcon (but a friend who has a Falcon says it won't work on his Falcon). Color or mono. Docs included. Recommended. MODESTmd is the demo of MODEST, the Module Organizer v.0.8 by Great Dane Software (out of Denmark). Modest is a program that will allow you to organize, categorize, and play a wide variety of differing formatted MOD files (Noisetracker/Soundtracker (with 15 or 31 instruments), Esion Tracker, Protracker, Packed Protracker. TCB Tracker, STOS/AMOS Tracker, and maybe four other voice formats [the docs say "maybe"!]). It will load and examine your MODs and tell you their title, and filename, size, composers, and compare them to a previously saved list (to check for duplicates). You can even play your MOD files from within the program. I do need to mention though, that while you can load and examine your MOD files in this demo, that is just about all you can do. It's a demo! When you pay the modest (pun intended!) shareware fee you will get the whole program. The demo shows you what the program can do, but still encourages you to register. Support Shareware authors! ST/STE-Falcon compatible. MODPLAYmd is MODPLAY! v.1.1b, the STEREO SoundTracker MODule player for STE. This TTP takes the MODule filename as parameter (if you install MODPLAY!.TTP with .MOD as document type you can play any MODule just by double-clicking on it.) Excellent quality sound and the ability to adjust tracks and volume from within the program. Keyboard controlled. Docs included. STE-Falcon compatible (Falcon owners must be sure not to have MiNT installed or to have run another sound program first). Color or mono. MPLAY_13md is MPlayer v.1.3 by Hoang Viet Chi (dated July 9, 1992). This .ACC will allow you to play almost any sound files (I don't know which ones as I haven't extensively tested this--but he says it loads anything but QUARTET, TRISOUND, TFMX-MIX/-DIGI, and SYNTH DREAMS. It also plays .MOD sounds (Noisetracker & StarTrekker only). It allows you to play your songs in the background, on any ST/STe/TT. Normally you can't play .MODs without the DMA sound chip on the STe's and above, but with this program you can! Docs included. Color or mono. MUDU_06 is MUDU v.0.6 by This program will play standard soundtracker/ noisetracker MOD files at 50kHz on a TT or Falcon030. 50kHz is better than CD quality! This program _should_ also work on an accerlerated STe or Mega STe. Program and docs in German. NT_COMPmd by Klaus Pedersen is a Compiler and player for 'NoiseTracker' music modules (.MOD), which is pretty popular on the Amiga. NT_COMP is fully compatible with NoiseTracker v2.0. This player uses 0% of your processor time when playing on the STe. It supports playback frequencies up to 50KHz (wasteful really). About the only drawback is the these compiled modules (SEGM's) uses a lot more memory. Color or mono. ST/STe/TT compatible. It even runs on an ST with 1/2 meg of RAM. Docs included. PAULA22A is Paula v.2.2a (dated Feb. 20, 1992) by Pascal Fellerich (one of the authors of TURBOASS, a fast Assembler). This .ACC is an Amiga-MOD-file-player for the Atari TT & STE. Paula doesn't claim to be the only or the fastest MOD player available forthe Atari, but it certainly is one of the best. It has an excellent GEM interface along with a Large number of features. Updated to make the program even more Falcon compatible. This file also includes a utility that allows you to "fix" some damaged .MOD files. Normally Paula is only usable on STe or TT machines, but this archive includes PETRA by Christian Limpach. Petra v.1.0 (dated Aug. 20, 1992) is a software sound driver which allows all ST's (the program docs say ALL ST's while the uploader said TOS 1.4 and above) which don't have DMA sound to still run Paula. Just trust me on this one. If you want to listen to .MOD files just get this program. Color or mono. Docs included. SHAREWARE. Falcon compatible. PT_20S is ProTracker ST v2.0s by Karl Anders ygard and Hans-Arild Runde ProTracker ST v.2.0s is a .MOD composing and playing program written for the Atari ST--TT series (it's not yet _fully_ Falcon compatible). It is a highly flexible system, allowing for up to four separate channels of samples, digital reproductions of real instruments, each with separate volume and pitch. ProTracker ST turns your ST into a fully capable sample synthesizer that's a pleasure to look at as well! According to the authors this program implements all of the features of ProTracker 2.0 Amiga--and more. They say this program has notably better editing, offering to you more possibilities, easy recording and an easier and more powerful sample editor. It also makes full use of the STE's stereo sound introducing bass and treble control. Both on the ST and STE, the digitized sound is of a quality superior to anything else, yet leaves far more time for other tasks to run simultaneously. Furthermore, replay routines comes together with the ProTracker ST, making it easy to implement soundtracks in demos and games. This is a Shareware program ($15 US), and the docs are the first two chapters of the full 130K of ASCII docs you get when you register. This is more than enough to get you started. Color only. Tutorial and sample files for you to learn on are included. If nothing else you can use this as an excellent MOD player (that's my speed)! PTPLAY12md is the PT-PLAYER v.1.02, a Protracker Mod player by Petri Kuittinen and Martin Griffiths (dated Feb. 24, 1993). This program will play Noise- and Protracker .MOD files using your ST's Yamaha-2149 sound chip. The sound output is very good, being 17.1 Khz mono PCM sound with 11 bits linear dynamics. This program works on all resolutions and on all screen refresh rates. ST/STE/TT (with TT you must turn off cache) compatible (even with 512K RAM, though you won't be able to play very large .MODs). This program is NOT Falcon compatible. Mouse and keyboard controlled. Docs included. STEPLAYmd is two programs from Norway. They play Amiga stereo files on an Atari STe. (The Amiga files should be in Noisetracker format.) One program directs output to the STE stereo jacks while the other does not. STORM!md is the ASTRAsoft Storm! Demo by David Oakley, the author of Desktracker (dated March 18, 1994). This excellent program is a new ProTracker MOD editor and player compatible with all ST ProTracker editors. Using the standard GEM interface for ease-of-use Storm! allows you to play MODs in the background (at 12.5, 25, or 50 Hz playback capabilities). Running in a window as either a program or .ACC, on any 1 meg or better STe, TT, or Falcon, Multi-TOS compatible, and in ST-High res or better, this program will allow you to edit and display (with notes on a staff or with symbols representing the various voices available) Protracker MOD files, AVR, and signed (.SAM) or unsigned (.SPL) sound files. This demo is limited in many ways, but it provides both a visual and aural demo of the program's capabilities. Docs and online help included. ULTIMATEmd is the Ultimate Tracker v.2.0 .MOD player for the STE/TT/ Falcon by Equinox and the Black Cats. This nicely presented .ACC will allow you to play SoundTracker/NoiseTracker .MOD files in the background as you do something else (like write descriptions of files ). It has Fast Forward and Reverse, and continuous loop options, and allows you to select playback Hz from 6.25 through 50 Hz (50Hz on Falcon only). Geneva compatible. And now on to the .MOD files themselves... 1081SPEAmd is a .MOD file entitled, "1081 Speakerbuster." 10KLEINEmd is the 10 Kleine-Negerlein .MOD. This file has a good disco beat with lots of solid bass. 128BEATSmd is a .MOD file entitled "128 Beats...Great." 16RASTERmd is the "16 Raster Song." This is a heavy beat .MOD file with lots of excellent "cool" samples. 2010md is a .MOD file entitled "2010." It is an entertaining synth pulser from Europe. 2120SMAmd is a .MOD file entitled, "2120 SMA- FYC." It is a very nice take on a Fine Young Cannibals number, done remix style. 2INSANEmd is a .MOD file entitled, "2 Insanity Dance." This is a pretty silly house MOD with lots of samples and other weird stuff. 2UNLIMODmd is a .MOD file entitled, "V'Already." This is a fast and slick .MOD file with a heavy dose of disco synth. 2_Umd is a .MOD file entitled, "OD: "2-Unlimited - Are You Ready?" 4MATmd is a .MOD file entitled, "4-Mat." It is a cute little jingle to play in the background. 7md is 7 - an excellent .MOD file. 7SINSmd is 7 Sins, an excellent .MOD file with a heavy beat. 808STATEmd is a .MOD file entitled, "808 State." It is an industrial- techno mayhem. 80REWINDmd is a .MOD file entitled, "80's Rewind." 90210md is a .MOD file of the theme of the TV hit, "Beverly Hills 90210." 911IAJmd is a .MOD file entitled, "911 Is A Joke." It is a grungy version of the Public Enemy number. 91PAST01md is a .MOD file entitled, "91 Past 0 Part One." This is a strangely stuttery rave-style MOD. As the original uploader wrote, "Midnight weirdness when the endorphins kick in." 91PAST02md is a .MOD file entitled, "91 Past 0 Part Two." This is "more rave-style midnight kill-those-endorphins dance stuff with weird samples." A2md is a .MOD file with a very full sound composed with a number of instruments. ACIDmd is Acid Bat 2. This .MOD file is a "Way Cool" variation of the old Batman TV series theme music. ACIIIDmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Aciiid." This is another .MOD file for which you should break out the light show. I recommend TRIP-A-TRON by Jeff Minter (TRIP in the ANIMATIN category). ACKERmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Ackerlight." This is a perky little item featuring a good beat and an arrangement that may remind you of J.M.Jarre. ACOUSTC2md is a .MOD file entitled, "Acoustic." It is a multifaceted .MOD file which starts off with acoustic guitar samples and then kicks into high gear. Nicely done. ACOUSTICmd is Acoustic, an excellent .MOD file with a lot of piano. ACTIONmd is an uptempo MOD, and a very entertaining one at that. ACTIONSmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Action In The Streets." It is a moody soundtrack-type number, nicely done. ACTOFIMPmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Act Of Impulse." It is an arpeggiated synth with crunching guitar, and slamming drums. It's another soundtrack music type EuroMOD. ADORE_EMmd is a .MOD entitled Adore Emulator. "It's a Law -- OK!" The main feature is a repetitive beat overlaid by various voice samples - one being of German origin. ADVENTURmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Adventure In the Bag." It is a quirky, jazzy number with fast solos and chunky drums. AFEBSYMmd is a .MOD file entitled, "A February Symphony." It is a fairly decent piece of work -- not really symphonic (drums, guitars, all that stuff) but it tries to be big. AFFAIRmd is an original .MOD file by an anonymous composer. It just goes to show that you don't have to be well known to do good work! AFLmd is a .MOD with a steady beat overlaid with guitar, keyboard, and more. Rather harsh sounding. AFTERGLOmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Afterglow." Originally by "Genesis," this file gives the piece a pretty impressive execution (and not in the sense of mangling it, either!). AFTRFIGTmd is a .MOD file entitled, "After The Fight." It is a rave/techno stomper with oddball samples. AFTRSHOKmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Aftershock))." It is a rave stomper. It is a ProTracker file so if you use the Paula .MOD player you must enable the ProTracker button. AG-TECHmd is a .MOD file entitled, "A. G. TECHNO." Sounds good! AGALODDSmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Against All Odds." AGE2md is a .MOD file entitled, "Age II." It is a straightforwardly clunky r&b MOD file. AGGROMIXmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "AggroMix - DM," This .MOD is a take off of the "Agrro" mix of Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again." Heavy on the snare and fast rhythm. I think it's OK. AGNESTDFmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Agnes tete De Fesse." This .MOD file had me bobbing my head in a quiet sort of way. You might say that it is in the "Tangerine Dream movie soundtrack" vein. Some of the notes played remind me of human voices in the background (but you can tell that they are just notes). AGOGOmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "A Go-Go." This is an original composition by Tim Sewell (I think) that is really upbeat in nature. It will really get your toes tapping. AGONYmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Agony." This is a fairly straightforward rock MOD. Rather slow overall. It repeats the same three descending notes that the Batman TV theme has, but I don't think that is an intentional copy. AGONY1md is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Agony - Highlands2." This is an uptempo .MOD with an African drum and savannah sound. Well-done and varied. AGONY2md is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Agony _ Forget.porph" This is slower but not slow tempoed .MOD file. It is a nicely done yet simple arrangement with an air of the chase around it. AGONY3md is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Agony - End Of Game." This .MOD file is a well done, upbeat and pleasant listening, full of clapping, horn, piano, and organ (all synth). AGRAINmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "A Grain Of Time." This minor key .MOD file is slightly industrialized Eurosynth. It's "oddly a little angry ... and angrily odd." AHREVmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Aaaaahrev2." This .MOD file has features voice samples and a slow, steady beat. It is a small synthmod that is so regular that you would soon forget that it's playing. AHROBYNmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Ah Robyn." This .MOD file gives a medieval madrigal presentation that alternates between serious music and mocking of the form. I guess that's a lot like Madrigal singing itself, in a modern form. Horns, sticks, recorders, church bells, organ, voice, and more all make up this piece. I couldn't play this with JukeBox 1.4 without a lot of static showing up here and there. It played file with Paula 2.1b. AHUMAHUMmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Ahum Ahum 2." This is an easy listening European MOD. Bar chimes, racing cars (mostly in the background), and rhythm mark this piece. AILINGmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Ailing." This .MOD file sounds aptly named. It is a heavy-hitter industrial/ metal MOD with a lot a bashing and iritating heavy guitar. But it does get your head bobbing! AIR is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "Air." This is a very upbeat rhythmic piece that relies on keyboard and drums. I like it. Note that AIRBOR and AIRBORNE are the exact same files if you are getting these off of GEnie. AIR2NITEmd is a Noisetracker/Soundblaster .MOD file entitled "In The Air Tonight" (according to the upload...the .MOD file lists itself as "b.t.p madtronix"). It's a rather slow piece with a muffled drum and keyboard. AIRABBITmd is a .MOD entitled "Air." It is a fast-paced light-hearted .MOD to which I enjoyed listening. AIRBORmd is Air, a pretty good .MOD file. Light and upbeat. AIRWOLFmd is AirWolf-Mix, a .MOD file that presents you with the theme music from the TV Show "AirWolf." This file also contains several voice samples. AIUTOmd is a wild and crazy .MOD file entitled, "Aiuto." It is loud and repetitive with iritating sounds. While not easy listening, it is somewhat interesting. AKTION6md is a .MOD file entitled, "Aktion 6." This is an electric keyboard upbeat .MOD. It is energetic listening. It plays better on Paula v.2.1b than on JukeBox 1.4. ALAKAZABmd is a .MOD file entitled Alakazabra. This .MOD file is rather sober and distant sounding. ALALA is a .MOD file entitled, "Alalaouti." It is a .MOD that starts out dark and quiet, but then moves on to a louder and more energetic style while still maintaining a nice listening sound and melody. ALBERTmd is a .MOD file entitled "Albert--Solo." Keyboard and drums. (He must be using a computer to play both at the same time!) ALCHOLICmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Alcoholic Score." Bongos, organ, and more go into this fast piece. It starts out with a quiet melody with bongo drums and moves into a fast and crazy beat. ALCONITE is a .MOD file entitled, "Alcoholical Night." It has a fast smooth beat with some interesting vocal samples mixed in. ALIENBEAmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Alien Beat Re-mix." It begins with a cough, has coughs in the middle, and ends that way, too. It's not a very productive cough, either. That guy ought to quit smoking! Interspersed with the cough is some music with a strong beat. ALIENSmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Aliens On Earth." It has a power beat and an alien whine in the background. The music gets louder, more upbeat, and stronger as it moves along. You hear some rhythm which might be stylized gunfire as those aliens are fought off (at least that's what I can imagine from the music). ALIENS4md is a .MOD file entitled, "Aliens4." It begins with "All persons must evacuate immediately." It is a huge .MOD file (uncompresses to 499K). It contains samples from "the Alien movies." Simple and flowing music intersperses the vocal samples. ALIImd is a .MOD file entitled, "a.l.ii." It is a peppy uptempo Eurosynth .MOD with a slow peaceful beat in the background. Pleasant listening! ALIVEmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Alive." It is a very fast piece of music that features a flute played with a remarkable skill and speed. The upload description says that it "bears a remarkable resemblance to 'Popcorn'," but I don't see that at all (other than they are both fast pieces). The instruments and tunes are different in both. This is excellent--Popcorn is, too. ALIVETHEmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Alive Theme." I'm not familiar with the piece, but it is full of a variety of sounds and styles. Rhythmic, and it seems like something that would play to a detective theme. ALL4NOWmd is a .MOD file entitled "All For Now." This is a bright and light quick paced .MOD that is not frantic with noise. It draws you into its rhythm. See ALLFORNO for the same file (upload one or the other but not both since they are the same file). ALLGC91md is a .MOD file entitled "All Great Cities 91." This file begins quietly but builds in both complexity and loudness. It is a bouncing Euro .MOD. This would not play on Juke Box v.1.4, but it works fine on Paula v.2.1b. ALLIWANTmd is a .MOD file entitled, "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth." It sounds somewhat like it is played on a kids piano and an organ (a cheap organ!) at the same time. This will not play on JukeBox v.1.4, but it plays fine on Paula v.2.1b. ALLTHOSmd is a .MOD file entitled "All Those Years." It is a ballad .MOD with a fast underlying beat. ALMOSTmd is a .MOD file entitled "Almost." This is a 50's Rock 'n' Roll .MOD with lots of guitar. Start dancin'! ALOHAmd is a .MOD file entitled "Aloha-punk2." This is a crazily fast .MOD with drums and vocals (voices and burps). A bit blurry. I won't bother listening to this one again! ALONEmd is a .MOD file entitled "Alone." It is a piano and snare (drums and organ, too) .MOD file that is pleasant to listen to, even when you're alone. It might even be better with someone else! ALPHARAPmd is a .MOD file entitled "Alpharapii." A combination of vocals, clapping, and a strong beat make this an interesting listen. ALPHAVILmd is a .MOD file entitled "Alphaville." It has a steel drum sort of sound with a nice overall rhythm and rhythm gourds (whatever those things you shake like a rattle are called!). I like this one! ALPHA_1md is a .MOD file entitled "Alpha." It is a mysterious .MOD file with lots of electronic notes, human vocals, symphony sounds and more. It is a "Vangelis number" (the original author?). ALPHA_2md is a .MOD file entitled "skf-Alpha." This is a "90's update" of this Vangelis piece. It is supposed to be similar (but it's not!) to ALPHA_1 above. This is just a quiet .MOD file with pretty and melodious tunes cycling up and down. No, "lots of electronic notes, human vocals, symphony sounds and more" here. ALPHOMEGmd is a .MOD file entitled "Alpha and Omega" (the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet are Alpha and Omega). It is a slow .MOD file that is pleasant to listen to. As I listen to it now I can hear that there are parts of this that play quite fast indeed, but they are in the background. ALTAIRmd is a .MOD file entitled "Altair." This is .MOD file that begins very slowly, with science fiction type sounds, ray guns, etc. and worry-producing music. What is happening here? I don't want to be around to find out! Ah, after a long time the music starts to get a bit louder and more complicated. Something's happening finally. In the end not much happens: a few whoops, ray guns firing, and that's it. ALTEREGOmd is a .MOD file entitled "alter ego-ice88." This is a nice plucky .MOD file with rapid percussion and smooth melody. ALWAYSONmd is a .MOD entitled "Always On My Mind." Upbeat, crisp. AMEGASmd is a fast-paced .MOD. AMERPIEmd is a .MOD file of American Pie originally by Buddy Holly. Begins with a harpsicord type sound and moves on with a light and bright rendition of this song. I listening to this song on the first night I was in my college dorm at the University of Maryland. My dorm had 550 people in it (my home town had 250 people resident!). College was a welcome shock! And I still like this song. ANDANTEmd is a .MOD file of a beautiful piece of classical music. I recommend it to you. Joyous, uplifting, full of a variety of sounds. Excellent! APACHEmd is a MOD file with an Indian (as in American) beat. APPROACHmd is an echoey .MOD piece that seems appropriate for a scarey night. ARCANEmd is Arcane, a strange .MOD file with some sounds sampled backwards. ARTmd is Art, a outstanding quality .MOD file. Light and delicate at first, the music gradually becomes stronger and heavier in beat. More and more instruments are added as the piece progresses. AWESOME1md is Awesome 1. This .MOD file came to me with the recommendation that it wasn't very good. Oh well, that just shows how tastes differ, because I like it! I think that the background beat is a recording of an unborn baby's heart beat. The song is deliberative and majestic, and joyful, too. AWESOME4md is Awesome4. This excellent .MOD file is lound and brash. CDPLAYER doesn't play this one too well--it drops instruments and clips notes. JUKEBOX and Paula handle it perfectly. AXELF is the AXEL FOLEY song from the TV series "Beverly Hills Cop." Have you ever tried to describe a music file? It's tough! So this time I won't try. This is a familiar tune, and I like it. You can play it with the most recent Paula MOD player or with JukeBox v.1.4. I recommend them to you. If you only have an ST (i.e., one without the DMA chip) you will need Paula to play this .MOD file. BACKPOPmd is BackPopped, a nicely done .MOD file. Bright and stacatto, with a pleasing sound in the front and a beat in the back. I have _no_ idea where the name came from! BALADmd is a .MOD full of deep rhythms, clapping, and keyboard that gradually moves to a lighter "quackier" tone. BALLMAINmd is a .MOD file with a regular background beat, rather medium speed (on the slow side), with a pleasing front sound. BALLUSTRmd is a .MOD file entitled Ballustrade. Composed by Tim Sewell, this .MOD file has a heavy beat with a nice mix of upbeat electronic sounds. It begins simply and then adds complexity as the piece moves onward. BALL_ALLmd is a series of four .MOD files with a wide variety of upbeat sounds. One has an Oriental sound to it and the others are more Occidental. Lots of interesting samples an arrangements. BAMIGAONmd is a .MOD file entitled "Bamiga One." This .MOD begins with a voice and music combo that "Be, bep's" it's way through the first few measures. It then moves on to a bar chimes, percussion, electric piano and more sound. Upbeat. BANANASmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Bananas." It is an upbeat and fast .MOD file beginning with a voice "Be, Beping" (which continues off and on through the piece). As the song says, "Come on!" I enjoyed listening to this. You might as well. BANGERmd is a .MOD file entitled "The Groove Banger." This a a loud and banging piece. Heavy on the big drum sound and crashing "grunge" guitar. I hear all sorts of squeeks, beeps, and raspberries on this .MOD. I'm not sure if they belong there or not! BARBLUESmd is a .MOD file entitled "Sleezy Bar Blues." This is a very nice 12 bar piano and guitar blues piece (with some percussion). Well done. BARBRIANmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Bar Brian." This wildly fast .MOD file is filled with vocal samples (it sounds very Jamacian to me). The vocal samples are mostly unintelligible, with an occasional parrot thrown it as well. BARTVADRmd is a .MOD file detailing an encounter between Bart Simpson and Darth Vader. Vader begins by saying, "Join me, and we will rule the galaxy together!" and Bart replies (after several permutations of Vader's invitation) with "I'm Bart Simpson. Who the hell are you!" Loud, heavy music interspersed with variations on their voices. Funny! BASJAmd is a .MOD file entitled "Basja." This .MOD sounds like the music video shot on the production line of a heavy industry factory. Glaring sounds, whistles, and hammers (guitar, drums, synth-flute) all merge into this .MOD. BASKETmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Basketjordel.porph." This is an energetic European MOD with trace elements of industrial dance and a great rhythm. I couldn't play this on JukeBox v.1.4, but it played fine on Paula v.2.1b. BASSQUIZmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Bassquiz." It is a peppy sounding, quick clapping, .MOD file from Europe. BATCHASEmd is a .MOD file which has the Joker running around and taunting Batman (with a machine gun it sounds like!). This is a quick paced .MOD file with a strong beat and lots of squeeks and extraneous noises which I am not sure belong or not. Chaoic sounding. BATDANC2md is a .MOD file entitled, "Batdance." This version has a Caribbean sound of steel drums along with vocals ("Batman!). As the upload description says this .MOD "has a somewhat different variation on the William Orbit mix" whatever that means! BATMANACmd is a .MOD file entitled, "Batman (Acid Mix)." This is another acid house version of the 1966 Batman TV series theme. BATMANNWmd is a .MOD entitled "Batman." This is a new version in a sort of semi-techno format of the 1960's Batman TV series theme. Quiet with snare in the foreground. BATMEATmd is a .MOD file entitled "Batmeat." It begins with the Batman of the TV series saying, "To the Batmobile!" and moving on to variations on the theme of the TV series. A recurring voice saying, "We've got a live one here." "Batman!" and "Batman, let's go" come up often, too. Loud and raucous. I couldn't play this on JukeBox v.1.4, but Paula v.2.1b worked fine. BATSTRIKmd is a nice .MOD entitled "Batstrikes." It begins with a pleasant smooth sounding series of tones, but quickly leaves that behind to move on to a fast-paced synth MOD. The upload doc says it's a bit bit fuzzy, but I didn't notice that. BAZNEWHEmd is a .MOD file named "Baznewhero." When I first began to listen to this .MOD file I thought it was going to be pretty good. Instead I ended up agreeing with the uploader who says that it "tries to be subtle and somewhat medieval, but sort of manages to be vaguely medieval and obnoxious instead." Maybe you will think differently! BBARRELPmd is a .MOD entitled, "Beer Barrel Polka." It really is a Polka band working away, and doing a good job of it! Roll out the barrel tonight! But make it a barrel of root beer! Nicely done. BEAT_MASmd is the .MOD file "Beat Master." The name says it all. BETTYBETmd is a .MOD entitled "Betty Bet." Lots of different sounds in this one! BLIZZRD3md is a .MOD full of echoey clicks and drips, rhythm and music. BLOOODmd is Bloood (spelled as the .MOD spells it!). This is a Disco style .MOD file. This is a rather bizzare .MOD file with lots of sampled voices saying all sorts of wierd things! BLUESHDWmd is a .MOD entitled "Blue Shadows." This piece has a "Swingin'" rhythm with a light and interesting melody. BREATHmd is a nice .MOD file of The Police's "Every Breath She Takes." BRIDGEmd is a .MOD that starts with the sound of the wind and gradually merges with a full-bodied mysterious music. I like it. CALGRLSmd is a .MOD file of California Girls. This is a different rendition of the song, blocky in sound, but on purpose rather than through lack of skill. Interesting. CANON_Dmd is Canon in D, a .MOD file that brings you one of my favorite classical pieces of music. I would say that this is one of the less complex renditions, but I like it anyway. CANTmd is a .MOD entitled "Can't Get Enough." It begins with a slow piano and moves into a heavy rhythm using guitar, sticks, and keyboard, and then lightens up nearer the end. CHAT4md is Chat-4 a .MOD file that is quite irritating to listen to! It is as if 1000's of voice are talking at once at you? Occasionally you heard what are obviously actual voices all jumbled together, but most of the time it is just a strident, repetative flow of sound. Interesting! COMPLICAmd is Complications, a good .MOD file with a catchy beat. CONCERTmd is Tar Concert in Air, a .MOD file that is rather hard to describe (actually ANY sound file is hard to describe!). It begins quietly, but with a hum in the background. An occasional quick trill of piano music (pleasing) runs through this section of the piece. Then the rhythm gets stronger and louder with increased percussives. This would be loudish background music. CP24md is CP-24 an interesting .MOD file with lots of interesting voice samples. I'm not wildly excited by it, but it's interesting. CREAMmd is a .MOD "Cream of the Earth." I'm getting tired of trying to describe all these .MOD's!! It's a fast-paced one! CREATIONmd is a .MOD featuring a piece of light piano work. CROCKETmd is a .MOD entitled "Crockett's Theme." It's not the theme from "Davy Crockett" of TV fame. I don't know what it is. It sounds like voices outside on a heavily fogged night. OMENmd is "Das Omen(xy.ttp), a .MOD that begins with scarey sounds and voices, then moves on to a bright rapid piano. Soon though, the brightness fades from the piano, leaving a jangling sound that goes along with the beginning of the song. OUTZIDEmd is a very full .MOD that contains a number of different sounds. It's strange, but some remind me of the sea, city, mountains, desert, artic, and more. I don't know whether it's the title and my imagination or if the composer is skillful! I like it. PIANOPLKmd is a .MOD file entitled "Piano Plinker." It is an excellent piano playing piece with a very happy style. I like it. PLANETSmd is Planets X, a very nice "spacey" sounding .MOD file. POPCORNmd is Amazing Popcorn, a .MOD file remake of Popcornia. Popcornia is a famous piece of music, bright and lively, and one which I really like. Recommended. PTmd is a .MOD file entitled "Photographic." It is a deep rhythmic piano and sticks upbeat song. PUMPJAMmd is a .MOD entitled "Pumpupjam." Written with sampled voices encouraging you to "pump it up" and a fast percussive and horn sound. QUANTUM6md is Quantum vi, by Ice 88. "This is a journey into sound." Fast-paced, building energy as the piece goes along. Lots of sound samples. Pretty good. RAINYNITmd is Rainy Night, an excellent .MOD file. It begins with the sound of a drenching rain and thunder, passing cars beeping horns and splashing through puddles. A passing horse clops along, and then the music starts. Ethereal strings come to the foreground while the rain continues in the background. Gradually more sounds are added and the piece becomes more complex, and yet remains peaceful and finishes with the rain. This file comes with a text file detailing the history of the .MOD (originally from the "Tropical Nights" demo) and how it was obtained by Craig Clinton. Very nicely done. 215K uncompressed. RENSTMPYmd is a .MOD file containing all of your favorite sayings and some music from the cartoon Ren and Stimpy. REVOLTmd is a .MOD sound file entitled "Azied Revolution." It contains a lot of sampled voices combined with a driving 'techno' beat featuring percussives and keyboard. RIFFRAFFmd is Riff-Raff, a good .MOD file that begins with a huge pipe organ sound and goes off into rock. RSI_RISEmd is RSI Rise Up, a really good .MOD file with some great voice samples and effects. A combo of dark and light sounds. RUNDmd is a MOD file by Todd Rundgren entitled, "Bang on the Drum All Day." It's short, but interesting! RYTHMmd is the Space Egg .MOD file with lots of interesting samples (voices, ray gun, police radio, and more). SCANNERSmd is a .MOD file entitled Scanners. It plays the famous song by the same name (if I remember correctly--at least it's a famous song!). SHADOWFImd is a .MOD file entitled "Spacedweeb." It is an upbeat tune featuring piano and horn. SHININGmd is The Shining, a .MOD file presenting you with the theme song from "The Shining." SHORTmd is a short .MOD file that reminds me of a rhythmic, moving sea. It would work well a either loud or background music. SMOKEmd is a .MOD file of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water." SONIXmd is Sonix Part 1, another good MOD song with a bad case of sample looping (or so I've been told, it sounds OK to me! But then again I don't know what to listen for!). SPACEmd is Space Lace, a nice sounding, energetic .MOD file with voice-like samples, upbeat music, and a rapid beat. SPACEDEBmd is a .MOD file entitled Space Debris. It is by the same person who wrote the .MOD file named "Beyond Music" and it sounds quite nice. SPECIALmd is Special, a .MOD file in the Disco style. It sounds like the Chipmunks have come to pay a visit and then a lot of other sound samples as well. SPREADmd is a .MOD with a flowing three-layered beat with a general upward direction. STMODS4md is five .MOD songs entitled Lockleaf, Lunawaves, Masquerade, Namewasbad, and Complications. SUMMRDRMmd is Heartfelt Summer Dream, a slow and soft MOD file with snare drum and chimes. Later in the piece it speeds up considerably. Well done. THARKENmd is "Escape from Tharken," a .MOD sound file beginnign with Pipe Organ and moving on to a faster, more energetic compostition. This piece moves through several stages before it concludes. THATSALLmd is "That's All," an Oriental sounding .MOD file, melodious and upbeat. THE_EDGEmd is The-Edge, a .MOD file of a good song, but I've been told that the sample looping could have been better. This song draws you into it through a skillful use of sound effects, rhythm, and volume. THETRIPTmd is "The Trip to Nowhere," a very fast keyboard and percussion .MOD. THORAXmd is a percussive .MOD file that makes me want to clap my hands and sway along with the music. THRASHmd is "This Is Thrash" a very fast and heavy .MOD file. Mosh it up! TIMEBOMBmd is TimeBomb, another cool MOD file. It begins with a rhythmic beat that might just be a ticking clock. It then keeps that beat and moves off into a rather "edgy" sound that portends a blast. TOCCATAmd is the Tocatta .MOD file. This is a remake of a familiar musical piece (by Beethoven?) as done by a modern group, This .MOD shows poor looping in the organ sample, but otherwise a great song. For some reason, BACKTRACK is the only player that will play this flawlessly. TOMSDINRmd is a .MOD file of "Tom's Diner" by Suzanna Vega. This is a very good remake and includes vocals by Suzanna. Her pleasant backgound voice is the main attraction in this quietly repetative song. 207K uncompressed. TRAINmd is a .MOD file that begins with Train sounds moving closer and then fading away. Contains sampled voices combined with rapid rhythm. TRAXX1 is a set of nine quality .MOD files from the House Adonis International TraxX (a European .MOD distribution group). They welcome you to send them your own quality MODs, along with advertising of your group. They will make sure they get passed out far and wide. This archive uncompresses to just over one meg. Uncompress using STZIP26. TWISDUNGmd is a .MOD of "Twisted's Dungeons1." You're lost in a dungeon. Scarey sounding. UNDERGROmd is a .MOD file entitled "Underground." It is a bit wierd, combining keyboard, guitar, sand blocks, and drums into an unusual sound. UPFRNT3md is a .MOD file with an upbeat sliding rhythmic sound that makes you want to follow along. A familiar tune. VERTICALmd is a .MOD file entitled "Vertical Madness." It is a very rapid piece that feature the drums in large part. VOYAGERmd is Voyager, a very good (and familiar sounding) .MOD file. WASTLANDmd is Wasteland, a very good MOD file making good use of sound effects. Racing cars (?) come through this .MOD. An occasional siren, too. Medium slow rhythm. WILDmd is Wild, a .MOD file with that distinctive European sound (the file name is WCOPPER4.MOD, but the archive name is WILD--I don't know why). It begins with a sound like hand bells and moves on to a rapid melody overtop of a slower background beat. Very nicely done. I like it. XENOPHOB is Xenophobe, a excellent .MOD file featuring the voice of Arnold Schwartzeneiger. XMASPUDDmd is a very nice SoundTracker .MOD file named Xmas Pudding Mix. It is a well done medley of Christmas tunes and voices with a beat. I've enjoyed listening to it. *************************** Now on to the .MODs I haven't really cataloged yet. Don't worry about that, though. These are some interesting files! March. 1995 Catalog The "CD Issue 2" Suzy B's Software 3712 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY 14305 716-298-1986 1_SSTOn is "The SSX Concept," a text file by Jerry E. Pournelle, Ph.D. (dated 1993) that tells the idea behind a single-stage to orbit craft. He details some design parameters and possible ways of achieving such a craft. As always with Dr. Pournelle, this article is informative and solidly grounded (or more apropos, "ethereally invested"?). He believes that SSX [the single-stage to orbit craft] is possible; that an SSTO ship could be built and flown in fewer than four years and for less than a billion dollars. Wouldn't it be great? Let's try it! 20STn is an amusing text file entitled "20 THINGS THAT NEVER HAPPEN IN STAR TREK." Here's a sample: "The Enterprise goes to visit a remote outpost of scientists, who are all perfectly all right." It's a riot! 25VOYAGEn is an archive of Joel Davis' messages on the Voyager flyby of Neptune taken from the Delpi Forum. 39K of text discribing Voyager and its encounter with Neptune as it happened. This file is full of interesting facts and hopes. This encounter was the fulfillment of many dreams, and is file is well worth getting. 2NDSTARn is a program in which you specify the luminosity of two stars, their relative size, and the angle of rotation in regard to the viewer. It then sets the stars rotating about each other and graphs the change in luminosity on a graph in the background while you see the stars rotating in the foreground. It's fun to play around with! Mono only. ACRONYMSn is a text file that will help you understand NASAspeak. It primarily deals with definitions of 100's of NASA acronyms (The word NASA itself is an acronym standing for National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Are you interested in Space Exploration (what a silly question since you are reading this!)? Do you know what CCDS stands for? Then perhaps you need this file! ADDRESSn is a text file listing addresses of NASA and some foreign space information centers. It also gives hints and timetables for contacting NASA centers for summer employment opportunities. AI_FAQn is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) from the Usenet on Artificial Intelligence. Dated May 13, 1993 and written by Mark Kantroqitz and posted by the Usenet News System. This FAQ is mostly listings and brief statements about places where AI research is ongoing. It also has a complete set of rules for the game of LIFE (not the Milton Bradley version!). ALMANACn is an amazine program which will give you a PILE of astronomical information based on your location on the globe. Using a database of 156 city locations around the globe (or you can just enter any latitude and longitude), this program will (when you supply the date) calculate the numerical day of the year, the time zone, the Latitude and Longitude of the city you have chosen (nice for those other astronomical programs that require that information), the date of Easter that year, the Sun rise and set times, equinox and solstis date and times, the distance of the Earth to the Sun (in A.U. and in miles), the Declination and right ascension of the Sun and the Eg. of time. For the Moon it will list the Moon rise and set, the transit time, the mean age, declination, distance (in miles), and the new moon date. It will also calculate the Twilight Time (Civil, Nautical, and Astronomical). It will even give you climatic data for the city you picked (average high and low temps, and the average temp). Finally, it will tell you the length of the day you chose. Wow! I did notice that the program was accurate in it's calculated date for Easter for all the dates I checked except for 1993 and 1994. Weird. This is designed for color systems, but will work on mono systems, too (the display is a bit messed up on mono system--check out the F keys to see what they do since you can't see the directions on the mono screen). ST/STE and Geneva compatible (at least). ANNn is for all of you who are interested in Amateur astronomy news, humor, and hints. The Astronomy Network News is for you. The first issue of ANN is from October, 1991, and the most recent issue is Sept/Oct, 1993. You'll have to find the other 11 of these issues yourself (search for CLUBS and NEWSLETTERS as keywords), and I think you will be glad you did. I've certainly enjoyed reading through them! ASA3_2n is the September 1991 (vol 3, #2) issue of The Electronic Journal of The Astronomical Society of the Atlantic. The content is as follows: * ASA Membership/Article Submission Information * The Battle Against Light Pollution in Central Ohio - Earl W. Phillips, Jr. * Astronomy in Ancient Mesopotamia - Stacey Abrams ASA_9302n is the February, 1993 issue of the Electronic Journal of the Astronomical Society of the Atlantic. The main thrust of this issue is an excellent article by Larry Klaeson on the exploration of Venus by both the US and former Soviet Union's deep space probes. Well done. ASA-9307n is the July 1993 Electronic Journal of The Astronomical Society of the Atlantic (Volume 4, Number 12). There are two interesting articles in this issue (along with more mundane stuff such as how to join the Society). The first is "The Great Moon Race: The Red Moon" by Andrew J. LePage. This gives an interesting and well- written history of the inter-relationship of the Soviet and American Space programs as regards the "race" to the Moon. The second is a review of one members attendance at the 181st American Astronomical Society (AAS) Meeting. Recommended. ASKUNCL1n is "ASK UNCLE SOL" by Sheldon Cohen, a (fairly) regular feature of the Smoky Mountain Astronomical Society Bulletin. Based on the Public Broadcasting "Ask Dr. Science" features (I think), these wacky answers to science questions are a riot to read! This issue contains "information" on the origin of our camera and eyepiece optics, why an automobile's optics can affect a telescope, and more than you ever wanted to know about Universal Time. ASKUNCL2n is "ASK UNCLE SOL" by Sheldon Cohen, a (fairly) regular feature of the Smoky Mountain Astronomical Society Bulletin. Based on the Public Broadcasting "Ask Dr. Science" features (I think), these wacky answers to science questions are a riot to read! In this issue he answers "readers'" questions about equatorial drives, quantum mechanics, professional versus amateur astronomy, and more. ASTEROIDn is a well-written text file entitled, "The Asteroids" by Carolyn Collins Petersen. It's a brief file (a little over 120 lines of text), but it has a lot of information packed into it in a very informative and interesting manner. If you ever wanted to read about the asteroids, then this file is for you. I was disappointed when I got to the end because I couldn't read anymore! ASTROLABn is Astrolabium v. 0.7 by Jrgen Rensen (dated May 1988). This program will allow you to display up to 9000 stars (down to magnitude 6.5) with either a sterographic or map projection, and either in the form of a star atlas or a planetarium. You can get it to display from any viewpoint (including the star view right under your feet ,supposing the Earth transparent!). It will also supply you with names of stars, allow you to show constellation outlines, and animate the star view over time, and much more! It will work on any ST/STE (at least) and while it is a German language program, English docs are included (which are very adequate). Mono only (though it works with mono emulators, too). Geneva compatible. This is a very nice astronomy program. ASTRONAUn is an alphabetical list of the US Astronauts. It details their selection year, their group, the number of missions they have flown, and their current status. This is current at least until 1987 (that's the most recent date). There are A LOT of astronauts! ASTROREQn is a text file from NASA (announcement # 3ACS-83) detailing the requirements for prospective Mission Specialists and Pilot Astronaut Candidates. There's a lot to being an astronaut. When will the Space Plane get off the ground! ASTROTIMn is the Astro Time Calculator v.3.03beta by Gerry Kichok. This HyperLINK .HAP file will allow you to calculate moon phases (at whatever latitude you are at), Julian dates from the Gregorian dates (normal dating), Universal Time, and more. It is accurate to the extent of HyperLINK (5 significant figures). Color or mono (best in mono). Docs included. You need HyperLINK v.2 or the HyperLINK RunONLY module to use. Gerry has written a number of HAP files, COINBOOK, REPAIR, SHAREWARE v.1.3, SOFTWARE v.1.10, and for bicycling the RACERLOG and WHEEL MAKER. AUGUSTINn is the Augustine Commission's report: "Advance Copy of the Summary and Principal Recommendations of the Advisory Committee of the Future of the U.S. Space Program" (dated Dec. 10, 1990). This 46K ASCII text is very interesting to all who wish to see our space program succeed. It is a realistic assessment of NASA's (and other space agencies) success and failures and concludes with some well-thought and practical recommendations for NASA support structures and programs. Recommended. AUSROC3n is a text file describing the development of AUSROC III, an Australian Space Launch Vehicle. Ausroc III is the third of the Ausroc series of liquid fuelled rockets aimed at the promotion of research, development and education of the field of launch vehicle technologies within Australia. Ausroc III is being designed as a sounding rocket capable of lifting 100kg of useful scientific payload to an altitude of 500km and then recovering it intact. This file details the history, structure, and goals of the AUSROC III and the whole Australian space program. Interesting! BATCREEKn is a large ASCII text file containing a very interesting discussion on Usenet of the Bat Creek Stone (from Aug.-Sept. 1993). What is the Bat Creek Stone? It is an apparently paleo-Hebrew inscription found by a Smithonian excavator in an undisturbed burial mound in eastern Tennessee in 1889. How did a paleo (early)-Hebrew inscription end up on a stone there? Is it genuine or a fraud? Pro and con views by experts and novices alike. I remember reading an article in Biblical Archeology Review (BAR) which told about this find. This expands on it. A GIF picture of the Stone is included. BINEVAn is a text file by David Jameison Brown that can help you to evaluate high quality binoculars for astronomical observation. This technical article is for you if you are considering the purchase of a pair of binoculars (especially for astronomical use). BIO-INFOn is the Bio-Info Theory FAQ from Usenet (dated July 7, 1993). It is the discussions of the Biological Information Theory and Chowder Society, a group of scientists interested in the biological applications of information theory, biochemical molecular machines, computer methods for recognition of molecular structure and function, database organization for biomolecular information, nanotechnology, and much more (and they used to meet over a bowl of chowder!). This file doesn't contain much of their discussions, but it contains a large bibliography and some ground rules for their discussions (food fights are discouraged during at-face meetings). This sounds like an interesting group! BL_HOLESn is a text file that tells you about Black Holes in Space. We all know that "there is much more to black holes than meets the eye" as the author says, but this text does much to fill in some of those knowledge gaps, in a non-technical and interesting way. Gravity, Relativity, The Speed of Light, the beginning and end of the Universe are all topics which are touched on in this essay. BURANn is two text files by Robert Reeves dealing with the Soviet Space Shuttle Buran. The first file tells what was knows about Buran up to May 3, 1989. The second file gives a detailed description of Buran as seen at the June of 1989 Paris Air Show. It compares the Buran orbiter with the American Shuttle. Very interesting and informative. C1993EBBn is an interesting ASCII file detailing information about comet 1993e and it's collision with Jupiter in late July 1994. It's quite amazing what can be deduced concerning the structure of the comet and the effect of its impact will be. Current as of Sept. 9, 1993 (a very nice birthday type day!). CHARTn is an astronomy program which will tell you which page in the popular Sky Atlas 2000.0 or Uranometria 2000.0 star atlases an object will be shown. The program will ask for a specific set of celestial coordinates, then tell you which page of each atlas to find the area of the sky at that set of cordinates. Color or mono. ST/STE and Geneva compatible (at least). CHARTERn is a text file of the original NASA Charter: The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, as amended. This was "AN ACT To provide for research into problems of flight within and outside the earth's atmosphere, and for other purposes." This is really a very interesting file. NASA has been charged with doing many things, and I think it has generally done them fairly well. Read all about it! CIAn has nothing to do with the Central Intelligence Agency, rather it is a text file detailing the use of Computers In Astronomy by David Aylsworth. Dated January 11, 1991, it was a supplement to the Toronto Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Member's Night meeting. This file focusses primarily on the use of computers and computer programs by amateur astronomers. CIRCLDIVn is the Circle Dividing Program. Originally published in the 03/1988, Sky and Telescope Magazine, this program has now been compliled in HiSoft Basic (.BAS code included). This program uses a dot matrix printer (required) to print out a linear scale of any desired length graduated and labeled in 360 increments representing the degrees in a circle (even down to 10 arc minutes!). Color or Mono. Docs included. ST/STE and Geneva compatible (at least). CLUSTERSn is a short text file describing Galactic and Globular clusters (with a mention of Clusters of Galaxies as well). It describes various well known galactic clusters (Pleiades and Hyades are familiar examples) and tells some about their movements, origins, and ages. Interesting reading. COMPUTERn is a text file containing an overview of the Space Shuttle's computer/data processing system. The system is OLD, but it gets the job done! Application details, allocation of computer resources during missions, programming details, and more are all included. CO_TRANSn is a program that will translate Ecliptical Coordinates into Geocentril equatorial, Horizontal into Topocentric equatorial, and Geocentric to Topocentric equatorial (and all vice versa). Useful for all of you astronomy buffs out there. Color or Mono. ST/STE and Geneva compatible. Pascal Source code included. CRAFn is a text file describing CRAF -- the Comet Rendezvous/Asteroid Flyby presently being planned by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA (launch date Aug. 1995). This program is designing a Mariner Mark II spacecraft to encounter an asteroid (Asteroid 449 Hamburga which is of a carbonaceous type and is about 88 kilometers [55 miles] in diameter), and then to rendezvous with a comet (named Kopff after August Adalbert Kopff, who discovered it on Aug. 22, 1906) and fly alongside it for nearly three years. Interesting details of the mission and cometary theory are included. CRRESn is the NASA press kit detailing information about the Combined Release & Radiation Effects Satellite (CRRES) (dated July 1990). This satellite was launched into a highly elliptical, geosynchronous transfer orbit of approximately 217 by 22,236 miles, CRRES is to conduct complex scientific research in what is referred to as "Earthspace" -- the space environment just above Earth's atmosphere which, far from being empty, includes the ionosphere and magnetosphere containing a dynamic ocean of invisible magnetic and electrical fields and particles. Much as a high school physics student spreads iron filings around a magnet to "see" its invisible magnetic field, CRRES will carry 24 canisters of various chemicals into orbit and release the chemicals over a period of time. When released, the chemicals will be ionized by the Sun's ultraviolet light creating large luminous clouds that will elongate along Earth's magnetic field lines, briefly "painting" these invisible structures. Now that you know that, you can decide whether or not you want to learn more. If so, get this file!. Another good thing about this file is that it has lots of names and phone numbers of NASA public relations people whom you might wish to contact. CRYPTFAQn is the Cryptography FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) from the Usenet. Dated May 7, 1993, this FAQ answers all sorts of questions you might have about cryptography and computers. If you've ever been interested topics from ciphers to public key cryptography, then this text file is for you! DCS_STANn is a text file entitled "SSTO, A Spaceship for the Rest of US). SSTO craft are "Single-Stage-To-Orbit vehicles. This file (dated March, 1993) details the expensive and dangerous way we now use to reach orbit and then points to a much cheaper and potentially safer method--the SSTO. It details design plans and current contracts that have been let by NASA and other government agencies. VERY interesting. The projected timeline is pretty amazing as well! DCX_TOURn is a text file by Andy Cohen describing his tour of the Delta Clipper-X (a protype Single-Stage-To-Orbit craft now under development). Dated March 12, 1993, this file is facinating! According to this it's almost ready to go! DCX_WHYn is a text file taken from the Delta Clipper public relations flier by McDonnell Douglass Space Systems Company. DCXINFO7n is a set of ASCII text files detailing information about the DC-X, a proto-type for the "Delta Clipper" (dated Sept. 17, 1993 through Oct. 3, 1993). Just what is the DC-X? Read on! DC-X is a low-speed flight regime testbed for a proposed reusable rocket-powered Single Stage To Orbit (SSTO) transport, McDonnell-Douglas Aerospace's "Delta Clipper". DC-X is intended to prove out rocket-powered vertical takeoff, nose-first lifting-body to tail-first flight transition, and tail-first landing. It is also intended to prove out rapid turnaround of a reusable rocket by a minimal ground support crew. DC-X has already pretty much proved out rapid low-cost development of an advanced aerospace X-vehicle by a small highly-motivated engineering team on a tight budget. DC-X was built by less than two hundred people, in less than two years, for about $60 million. Of course, this sort of thing has been done before -- just not recently! DC-X stands 40 feet tall, is 13 feet across the base, and is roughly cone-shaped, with a circular cross-section forward blending into a square base. It's beautiful! See DC_X1 for two excellent GIF pictures of this bird! DC_X1n is two excellent GIF pictures of the DC-X, a 1.3 scale test vehicle designed to prove out flight and maintenance concepts for the proposed Delta Clipper single-stage-to-orbit vehicle. These GIFs are of the vehicle's roll-out at McDonnel Douglas, Huntington Beach, CA on April 3, 1993. Some of them are: The Hermes-- the European Space Plane; A reusable two stage rocket to Orbit; An analysis of the potential impact of exhaust gases from the Ariane-5 and the Space Shuttle on the Ozone layer, and more. FAQ1993En is an Internet FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) about the July 1994 impact of Comet 1993a (Shoemaker Levy 9) with Jupiter. That impact is going to be something! According to this FAQ using easily available equipment you will likely be able to see the increased light from the impact reflected off some of the moons (the impact will be on the far side of Jupiter). FERMATn is an file from the GEnie Space and Science area that contains three articles on the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem (originating from the Internet Amateur Mathematics Society Newsletter 5). Taken from "Newsweek," "The New York Times," and the Internet address FXKMS@acad3.alaska.edu. these three files detail (well, not exactly "detail"!) the proof by Dr. Andrew Wiles of Fermat's Last Theorem. I just recently read something very interesting about Ida (not included in this archive). Ida has a satellite! It's a wee little thing orbiting about the asteroid. That's the first satellite of an asteroid that has ever been seen! GALILEOn is The Galileo Project Report. Galileo is a planetary exploration mission that is designed to provide the first direct sampling of the atmosphere of Jupiter and the first extended observations of the planet, its Galilean satellites and intense magnetospheric environment. This document, prepared sometime before the launching of Galileo (which occured in Oct. 1989), details the goals of the mission and some of the present understanding of the Jupiter system. GNOMPLOTn is Gnomplot v.4.2 by Dieter Heinlein (dated 1988). GNOMPLOT was designed in order to calculate and to print out star charts using the gnomonic projection. Such maps show a small region of the starry sky (around the projection center) and make it possible to draw trajectories of meteors as straight lines! You can easily set your parameters, the star magnitudes displayed, and even display constellations (just the stars, not the conventional outlines). It will run on an ST/STE (at least) with 1 Meg of RAM. The author's docs say mono only, but it works on my color monitor! To print out your maps you need an Epson FX80 compatible printer (but you can save them in Degas or Doodle format for later use, too). Geneva compatible. Shareware. GRAVASSTn is a text file that tells some of the ins and outs of the fastest way yet available to get around the Solar System. It's not by rockets, or by solar sails (though those--at least the first--are very useful!). Nope, it's by the "slingshot effect" of gravity assist, or perhaps more clearly stated, using a planet's or moon's gravitional field to propel a spacecraft in another direction and with a greater velocity. This files tells you how the Mariner, Pioneer, and Voyager spacecraft all used this technique to get from here to there faster and more efficiently. The telescope was launched in June so this Nov. briefing brings a lot of light (pun intended) to the issue. HUBTELSPn is a Space Telescope Science Institute text titled: "HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE: A NEW VIEW OF THE UNIVERSE. It tells of some of the early scientific findings gleaned from the two cameras aboard NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. Observations of Saturn, a halo around the great supernova of 1987, observations of Pluto and Charon, inside the Great Orion Star Factory, reports on the telescope's mirror flaw, the search for a lost nova (from 60 years ago), observing the double-star system R Aquarii, and a newer and more accurate determination of the distance to the Large Magellanic Cloud. IAU01031n is a series of 65 text files that are "press releases" for the International Astronomical Union from October, 1991 through the beginning of Jan., 1992. IUS_RKITn is a text file detailing the Inertial Upper Stage (IUS)/ Payload Assist Module (PAM-S) used in the Space Shuttle mission STS-41. It was used to transport the Ulysses spacecraft out of Earth's orbital plane to explore the polar regions of the sun. Specifications and capabilities as well as future possible missions of the IUS are detailed. JUL_GMSTn is a program that will calculate any Julian date from a given Gregorian date. It even takes into account if the date you are giving is based on Gregory's revision of the calendar back in 1582. It will also give the Greenwich mean siderial time based on your local time (but since the program doesn't ask _where_ you are I think it assumes you are somewhere in Germany and bases it's calculations on that--the Pascal source code is in German on which I base my assumption). Mono. ST/STE and Geneva compatible (at least). KALEN_21n is Kalenderdaten v.2.1 by Dietrich Zucht. This is a fascinating program! It will allow you to easily find out a number of interesting bits of calendar based information based upon your inputs. It will tell you the weekday of any given date, the years in which a given date falls on the same weekday, the date of Easter or many other moveable feasts and holidays, the number of days between any two dates, a new date based on a given date plus any number of days, the Julian date from any given Gregorian date, and the Gregorian date from any Julian date. One thing I especially liked about this program is it's detailed description of just what a Julian date is, and how it is calculated. I kept on seeing Julian dates mentioned, but I didn't know what they were. Now I do! Color or Mono. Docs included. ST/STE Geneva Compatible. Postcardware.
