On second thought the collection is pretty good, too!). Double Click Software has made its mark on the ST community. Unfortunately, it has gone the way of many companies in the ST world . Nevertheless, the programs are still excellent! Many of the programs below are from their "Program of the Week" series. Check them out! You have before you one category description from the complete Suzy B's Software two volume CD of Public Domain/Shareware/demo software. Complete, that is, as of March, 1995. But we don't quit, and you don't either! Hundreds of programs are being released each month, and if you want them, you'll find that we have them. We began as the PD distribution company with "the honey of a deal" and we mean to continue to bring that to you. See below for more information about Suzy B's! With Suzy B's Software you get to choose which programs and files you want! No more of just getting one program you want and then a bunch of other stuff that the PD company wants to give you to fill up the disk. With Suzy B's Software you get to fill up your disk the way you want! You choose as many files, and as many different kinds of files from our catalog that will fit on a 720K disk (or a 355K single-sided disk). Place your order, and we will custom build you disk for you and send it off! All of our files are self-extracting compressed files (except the very small files for which it would be inefficient to use a self-extracting format--those are uncompressed). Each disk costs $5 for a single-sided disk or just $2 more for a double-sided disk. If you order 4 disks you get the fifth one FREE! Where else can you get compressed files, double-sided disks, your own choice of files, and such a low price? No where else! We don't sell you software; we sell you service. We want your business, and so we at Suzy B's Software are committed to giving you "a Honey of a Deal"! March. 1995 Catalog The "CD Issue 2" Suzy B's Software 3712 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY 14305 716-298-1986 The following files only have the two letter extension (dc) when it is needed for you (or us) to identify the file. Most of the DC programs already have the "DC" in the file name so any more identification is unnecessary. ACCESS_Adc is a DC Desktop .ICE file full of excellent icons for all sorts of accessories. If you have DC Desktop (I do and it is wonderful!) then this .ICE file is for you! BILLSdc is a DC Desktop .ICE file containing 24 icons for various programs and cabinets. DCADUMP is another program of the week by Double Click Software. DC ASCII Dump will do a screen dump of a TOS or GEM screen as text! Why wait for a graphics screen dump (that takes AGES!). It will take the time from your system or from you. Color or mono. Docs included. From Double Click Software (it has to be good!). DCDESK_1 is the complete transcript of the DC Desktop Topic on GEnie and the Atari Roundtables. It runs from September 26, 1990 through January 1, 1993. I really like DC Desktop (and use it and/or NeoDesk practically all the time). This was a very interesting file full of hints and helps in using and describing this program. DCDESKEY allows you to select the desktop functions using keystrokes. Color or mono. From Double Click Software, the innovative creators of DC DESKTOP & DC UTILITIES (must have programs if there ever were ones!). This program will make your normal arrow (which points left) 'flip' around so you get a 'left-handed' mouse arrow! DCLICKME is DC Click Me v1.0 a FREEWARE game by Double Click Software. This is a little game they just had "lying around." Basically, some squares will be drawn on the screen and the phrase: DOUBLE CLICK ME will appear in one of the boxes. Your job is to double click that square before the message disappears. Color or mono. Docs included. It includes an .ICE file for DC Desktop! DCLITOFF is DC Light OFF v1.0 from Double Click Software. Are you getting tired of booting up without a floppy disk and having the drive light stay on and the motor spin away? Here's the solution to all your worries: DC Light OFF deselects the floppy drive. Color or mono. ST/STe/TT compatible. Docs included. DCDMASPL is the DC DMA Sound Player v.1.0 from Double Click Software. This program will allow you to play back "digitized" sounds (ST Replay sound files) on the Atari STe or TT computers through the DMA sound circuitry. You can turn this .ACC on or off at will. Color or mono. Docs included. DCNOSTIC is DC No-Stic (No Stiction) v1.0 by Double Click Software. This program is designed to prevent hard disk stiction. What's that? Stiction is when your hard disk head sticks in one place. (big trouble) Seagate drives suffered from this phenomenon. Recently, some hard disk manufacturers began putting in logic in their controller ROMs to prevent stiction from occuring. Basically, they move the hard disk heads around after a length of disk inactivity. DC No-Stic will move the hard disk heads around after 5 minutes of hard disk inactivity. Color or mono. Docs included. DCPOPBAR gives the ST a pop-up menu bar where the mouse cursor is by doing a right-click. NOTE: Works only with TOS 1.6 or lower. Yet another Program of the Week from Double Click. DCPOPBR2 is DC POPBAR v1.2 from Double Click Software. This is one of their excellent SHAREWARE programs. DC PopBar gives the GEM desktop a 'popup' menu of the menubar entries. Now all menu entries are available in a popup menu wherever the mouse is. This new version gives DC Popbar some nice features, such as auto-highlighted menu entries in the popup, and the ability to center the mouse under one of the menu titles. Plus, drawing the menu is faster now. This version is limited only in that you can't save your favorite configuration, but you need to set it up each time. If you would like the complete version plus a disk of 28 other DC shareware and freeware programs, send in your registration! Color or mono. Docs included. Will not work with TOS 2.0 or higher. DCPRTMAN is the manual text for DC-PORT, a serial expansion cartridge for your Atari ST computer. With DC-PORT you get two more RS232 serial ports. If you are a BBS operator or like to do LOTS of downloading you can get this file and learn all about DC-PORT from the folks at Double Click Software (if those guys make it it has to be good!) You might even be interested in this even if you don't own a modem! DCRESRVE is DC Reserve v1.0 by Double Click Software. DC Reserve runs as either an auto program or as an .ACC and will reserve a predefined amount of memory when you execute a program. For instance, if you run FLASH! it normally uses all available memory for a capture buffer. With DC Reserve installed and set to reserve 100K, when you execute FLASH! you will have 100K free RAM in the program for use for other things (like DC Shower). Color or mono. Docs included. ST/STe/TT compatible. A "Program of the Week." DCRTCALL is DC RightCall another "program of the week by DC Software. This program will call up the file selector (and alternates like UIS) or MaxiFile (tm) when you click the right mouse button. This is a desk accessory. 100% assembly. ST, STe and TT compatible. Also included is a listing of various DC products, included the amazing DC Diet, the new utility that allows you to compress your files and still use them in any program! You save an amazing amount of disk space! DCR_TMAG is DC Real-Time Magnifier. This "Program of the Week" from Double Click Software gives an 8X blowup of the screen. Get "fat bits" in programs that don't provide them. Or see those tiny fonts without having to reach for the bifocals. As always ST, STe, and TT compatible. 1, 2 or 4 bit planes. A must have tool. DCSALVAG is DC Salvage v1.0, another freeware program from Double Click Software. Have you ever had a file that you can't copy because of a bad sector in the middle of the file? What to do, what to do? DC Salvage will read a file in one sector at a time until all that can be read in is read in. Then the file will be copied to a destination of your choosing. Color or mono. Docs included. DCSEA22B is the long-awaited SHAREWARE release of DC SEA v.2.2b (dated May 12, 1993). DC SEA make "Self-Extracting Archives of your ARC, LZH, ZIP, and ZOO compressed files (and restore said files to their original archive). When you need to give a compressed file to a friend, just run it through this program and your friend won't need any compression utilities to uncompress it! All he or she will need to do is to double-click on the file (the program gives it an .APP extender, but you can rename it to TOS, TTP, or PRG with no ill effects), select the destination directory using the item selector, and click on OK. The file will be uncompressed just like that! The files also have a verbose listing option so you can see the file names within the archive without uncompressing it. I HIGHLY recommend this file! Now for the problems with it: The ARC routines work without flaw. The LZH routines work fine for the older lh-1 and the newer more efficient lh-5, _except_ for errors with some files. The problem is with very large LZH files. They return a "CRC Error" message when uncompressed. This also happens with very small files that are not compressed, just stored "as is." The large files are corrupted, but the smaller ones are not (they are just reported as being so). The newest .ZIP format is now supported (with some problems uncompressing some new .ZIP files, but I'm not sure or the exact conditions--usually it works just fine), but only the older .ZOO file format is presently supported. Nevertheless, I still highly recommend this SHAREWARE program. Docs included. DCSHOHEX is DC Show Hex v1.0 from Double Click Software. Show Hex is a 100% assembly program that lets you view and search data in a file or system memory. For ease of use, input is supported through both the keyboard and the mouse. In addition, simple integration into the DC Desktop environment is implemented. Color or mono. Docs included. DCSHW11 is DC Showit by Double Click Software. DC SHOWIT is a complete replacement for the GEM desktop 'SHOW' routine which is used to 'type' files to the screen. The unique feature about DC SHOWIT is that you never need to perform an 'Install Application' for DC SHOWIT to be called. It gets loaded once from the AUTO folder, and when you click on 'SHOW,' it is called instead of the systems SHOW routine. DC SHOWIT views regular ASCII files and NEO and uncompressed DEGAS pictures. Color or mono. Docs included. This is a wonderful program! Only SHOWER (from DCS) and DC Desktop are better! DCSLICK2 is DC Slick SHIFT v1.01 a program of Mouse Trickery from Double Click Software. DC Slick Shift will emulate either the RIGHT or LEFT mouse button with the press of either one or two modifier keys (Control, Alternate, Left or Right shift keys). Color or mono. Docs included. DCSQVIEW is a review by Larry Rymal of DC Squish and Packer, two programs that will allow you to compress your programs and yet still leave them runable. This was not commissioned by Double Click Software (the creator of DC Squish). The fact that I tell you that shows the character of the review! I like DC Squish too, and use it on most of my programs. DC Squish comes as a part of DC Utilities 2, a value laden program if there ever was one. DCSTUFFER allows you to load in more than six desk accessories (DAs) into GEM. DC STuffer acts just like the desktop, you can open up any desk accessory, and if it does not take complete control of the desktop (or the program you are running) you can go to DC STuffer again to open another desk accessory. This version has a limit of 32 DAs. Version 1.0 has no limit and allows you to load or unload DAs at will without the need to reserve memory for the DAs. DC STuffer program allows you to load a desk accessory and run it as a program. Docs included. Color or mono. SHAREWARE. By Double Click Software...it has to be good! DCTOPER2 is DC Topper v1.2. This neat program automatically tops the window under the mouse. Color or mono. Docs included. If you have v. 1.0 of this program (or even if you don't!) get this one! It is much better. Now works with NeoDesk 3. Another "Program of the week" by Double Click Software. DCUTIL_1 is the complete transcript of the DC Utilities v.2.0 topic on GEnie and the Atari Roundtable. The topic dates from Jan. 24, 1991 through Nov 18, 1992. I use DC Utilities all the time, and I heartily recommend it to all and sundry. Unfortunately, DC Software is no more, so it doesn't seem like we will be seeing any updates or any more conversation on this topic . DCX220C is the newest version of DC Xtract v.2.20c by Paul W. Lee (dated July 23, 1993). This formerly commercial ("bought through a store") program is now commercial SHAREWARE ("paid for because you are honest"). DC Xtract is a Wonderful archiving utility. I thought it was great when I bought it as a part of DC Utilities, and I can see it's even better now. I've only found a problem in uncompressing _one_ new .ZIP file (I can live with that!). Now this handles all of the newest ARC, LZH, ZIP, and ZOO formats. I recommend this program to you! It's great!....I thought I was done, but I want to talk some more about this. One feature I like is that you can configure the program to automatically choose the correct compression/ de-compression routine based on the name of the file you are manipulating. Another is the ability to set the maximum number of files you will allow in an archive. This can save you RAM memory, while allowing you to still uncompress those huge archives when needed. Another is the graphical progress report you get as you compress/ uncompress your files (it makes everything seem to go faster). Mouse and/or keyboard controlled. Docs included. This program is now TOS 1.0 compatible. DCU_DEMO is a demo of Double Click Software's Utility disk. You can see DC SQish 2.0, the program that compresses your programs AND accessories so they take up less room and boot faster. DC-Extract 2 is also here. It is a super easy and capable way of compressing and uncompressing your files using ARC, LZH, ZOO and ZIP. Color or mono. These are the programs we use every day! DC_BHELP is DC Backspace Help, another program of the week from Double Click Software. Did you ever hit instead of and get mad! This is especially maddening in FLASH! Your problems are solved (at least this problem!) DC_BHELP turns your Help key into a Backspace key! Control + Help now equals the old help. Color or mono. DC_CPX by Double Click Software is an advertisement for their CPXtensions Vol. 1., a soon-to-be-released utiltiy using Atari's Extensible Control Panel. Color or mono. DC_CRC will calculate and store any file's CRC in a master list. Later, you can add more files, update the current file's entry, or check the file against it's entry in the master list (in case you suspect file corruption). This program is FREEWARE from Double Click Software. 100 % assembly. ST, STe and TT compatible. DC_FF is DC Form Feed, another program of the week from Double Click Software. DC Form Feed will send a form feed command to your printer if it is installed and you press the Alternate + Control + F keys. Color or mono. DC_FKEYS is DC Functions Keys from Double Click Software. This program lets you assign 49 function keys for text macros of 40 characters each. A "text" data file is used for easy user editing. For example, you could define '9' to equal 'Suzy B's Software, a honey of a deal!' Now whenever you type ,Contol 9 you would get that! You can do that for 49 texts! What a labor saver! Turn it on or off at will. Color or mono. Docs included. DC_GTP is (GEM Takes Parameters) v1.0 by Double Click Software. This utility allows you to pass multiple parameter's to GEM programs. As with all the Double Click programs, you get quality when you get this. Color or mono. Docs included. DC_HOMEY is DC Home, another Program of the Week from Double Click Software. With this utility you can place your mouse instantly in the middle of your screen, simply by pressing ALT-CTRL-LEFT SHFT-H. Color or mono. Docs included. DC_JCHAR is DC J-CHAR, another program of the week from Double Click Software. DC J-CHAR will simulate typing a character when you push the joystick in one of the directions and press the trigger. Great for repetitive prompts (like BBS) or scrolling. Color or mono. DC_MWRAP, is DC Mouse Wraper, another "Program of the week" by Double Click software. This program will 'wrap' the mouse cursor when you hit the edge of the screen. Go up, and hit the edge of the screen, and the mouse goes to the bottom of the screen! Great short-cuts, cuts down mouse movement! Wrap up, down, left, right, configurable, and you can turn it on or off with a key press. DC_RT_DC is DC Right DC, another program of the week from Double Click Software. With DC Right DC installed, a Quick right click on the mouse will emulate a left double click. Color or mono. DCS_S1 is the DCS.S - Assembly Lesson #1 by Double Click Software. Now that Double Click Software has given us a program each week for an entire year, they are moving on to teach US how to program so more new and exciting software can be produced for the ST. This file is is assembly source code for a routine to read in picture files- NEO and PIx. and show them on the screen. This seems to be the first request for most new programmers to a language. DD_DEMOdc is the Data Diet Demo by Keith Gerdes of Double Click Software. DC Data Diet is a unique product for the family of Atari TOS- based computers that will save you megabytes of disk space efficiently and silently by compressing all your data files using a seamless and transparent integration into GEMDOS. Double Click has designed Data Diet to be as fast as possible, using a proprietary compression method which provides excellent compression at an astounding speed. In fact, speed was one of the most important factors behind Data Diet's design. Compared to similar programs on other platforms (Macintosh and IBM), Data Diet blows them away hands down! This demo is only slightly slower than the commercial program, will only work with drive "C" (floppy disk only owners will need to use a RAM disk named "C," and it will only compress and save .DOC files to the root of drive C. This demo also includes a demo of DC Squish 1.4! This seems like a truly amazing program! Color or mono. Docs included. ST/STe/TT compatible. DEE_CEEdc is a series of .ICE icons for all the DC programs and .ACC's. Mono DEGAS pictures of the icons are included so you can more easily view the icons. Well done. Possibly by Stan Johnson (he's the one that uploaded it on the DC Bulletin board). DISKSTATdc is DC Disk Stat v1.0, another fully compatible with anything ST Program of the Week from Double Click Software. Can you ever get enough information about a disk? DCS thinks not. DC Disk Stat will give you important information about a disk of your choice. Rename it as an .APP or .ACC and run appropriately. It will give you the following information: VOLUME NAME : volume label, will be blank if none SERIAL # : random serial number to identify disk SECTS/TRACK : sectors per track (may not apply to all hard disks) TRACKS : total tracks on disk (may not apply to all hard disks) SIDES : total sides on disk (may not apply to all hard disks) SECTORS : total sectors on disk BYTES/SECT : bytes per sector SECTS/CLUSTER : sectors per cluster (cluster is a logical grouping) : a cluster is the minimum 'logical' unit of disk space : that storage on the disk can be reserved in. : EXAMPLE: a 1 byte file uses 1 cluster : depending on the sectors per cluster and sector byte size : a cluster could be 1024, 2048, 4096 bytes or more) CLUSTERS : total clusters on disk (sectors / sectors per cluster) RESV'D SECTORS : reserved sectors usually just one for the boot sector HIDDEN SECTORS : hidden sectors, usually there are none in GEMDOS DISK SIZE in (K) : size of disk in Kilobytes EXECUTABLE? : is the boot sector executable? yes or no OEM NAME : A six character space in the boot sector that can be used : by the formatting program as a signature # OF FATS : number of FILE ALLOCATION TABLES, a FAT maps which : clusters are used on the disk, usually 2 FATs FAT SIZE : FAT size in sectors DIR SIZE : size of the ROOT directory in sectors DIR ENTRIES : number of entries the ROOT directory can contain FAT 1 START : first sector of FAT #1 FAT 2 START : first sector of FAT #2 (duplicate of 1) DIR START : first sector of the ROOT directory DATA START : first sector actual storage space begins 12/16 BIT FAT : 12 or 16 bit entries in the FAT table? 16 bit uses : more space but is easier to manipulate.
