SUPPORT : PACIFIST GUIDE : PART 2
What Do I Need?
You need three things to get your basic PaCifiST system up and running.
    1. A copy of PaCifiST !
    2. A TOS ROM image
    3. Something to actually use (I.e. some software)

Because we are so nice all you need do is go to ftp.fatal-design.com and enter the pub/pacifist/newbie folder and grab the contents. There are three files in there - pcst045.zip, tos100.zip and demoprgs.zip. If you've already got pacifist you can skip that file.

Unzip the pcst045.zip file - it'll create a folder called PCST045 on whichever drive you told it to. If you are unzipping the file from DOS you MUST make sure you use the -d option to let it retain it's directory structure. However if you are unzipping with Winzip or something, it'll most likely do this for you. Next unzip the tos100.zip file, inside it you'll find TOS100.IMG - copy this into the PCST045 folder. Finally unzip the demoprgs.zip file and copy the contents (vctrball.prg and buggyboy.st) into the STFILES folder within the PCST045 folder.

We are now all set to play - but DON'T run that PACIFIST.EXE just yet.

Some PC Issues To Consider
There are two things to consider - first are you running under Windows95 or DOS and secondly, is that a wise choice? If you've got an ailing PC (P100 or slower) then I would strongly recommend running pacifist from native DOS mode and not from within Windows95. I use pacifist on both a P120 (32 meg RAM) and a P.PRO 200 (128 meg RAM) and as you can imagine the P120 works a LOT better under DOS while the power of the P.PRO makes pacifist perfectly happy under Windows95.

Memory is also an important factor, if you are working with 16megs of RAM then run pacifist from DOS regardless of the speed of your computer. If you are using anything less than the recommended default (486 DX100) seriously consider upgrading or trying out a Spectrum emulator instead ;-)
