CARDS.BAS = Solitarie A nice, card-dealing Solitaire game, with a joystick modification by ourown Charl>}es Lusco! Much more is available within theACEC Disk Library. There are a numberof art programs, billions of games,an>}d more! Just ask around. Disk compiled by Warren Lieualleny. There are a numberof art programs, billions of games,an<@ CREEPY CAVERNS by Anthony Ramos Written Nov. to Dec., 1983Published August 1984, Antic Magazine ReN}quirements: 48K, BASIC cartridge This is not a game for theclaustraphobic! An evil creature, the Megawump, has roundeN}d up a gangof bloodthirsty monsters who raidsmall villages at night and storetheir ill-gotten treasures in themusty caverN}ns which they inhabit.Your task is to enter the caverns, retrieve as much stolen treasure aspossible, and collect the magicN}objects necessary to destroy the evilMegawump. You will find two types oftreasure in the caverns: jewels worth80 poN}ints, and bags of gold coinsworth 50 points. You will also findthree different types of monsters:pythons, trolls, and hydN}ras. Each ismore deadly than the last, and eachis worth 1000 points dead. There arealso weapons to be had in thecavernsN}: Orange quivers containingfive "mundane" arrows, and the morevaluable red quivers containingfive "enchanted" arrows. EncN}hantedarrows guide themselves to thetarget, whereas mundane arrows flystraight and must be aimed morecarefully. AlsN}o needed are a golden key,and an amulet to protect you fromthe Megawump's lightning bolts. Agreen chest is hidden in the N}cavernswhich can be opened by the key toobtain the Enchanted Sword. Whenyou walk into a room containing thekey or the amN}ulet, an impish voicewill alert you to their presence. An inventory of the objects youhave is kept at the bottom of tN}hescreen. The leftmost numberindicates the number of enchantedarrows you have, the rightmost numberthe number of mundaneN} arrows. Alsodisplayed are the key, amulet, andsword, once you find them. To use anobject or choose which type of arrowsN}to use, press the left and rightarrow keys next to the RETURN key.You do not need to point to theamulet to use it. PressN} the firebutton to use the indicated object. To fire an arrow, hold down the firebutton and push the stick in thedirectionN} you wish to let it fly.The game can be paused by pressingthe space bar. Any other key willresume play. If you want to gN}ive upan adventure and start over, pressthe ESC key. If you walk into the Megawump'ssecret chamber carrying the sworN}d, hewill seal all exits and confront youin a battle to the death. To defeathim, you must first shoot him withthree mundN}ane arrows; enchantedarrows are too smart to face thiskind of menace. Then you must useyour sword to finish off the awfulN}beast. Good luck brave warrior! -Anthony Ramos A technical note: The digitalsounds for this gN}ame were sampled andmanipulated using the Parrot digitalsound sampling system.
