Atari Silesian Open in the Mikolow
Few days ago (on 28-29th of December 1995) Atari Silesian Open meeting took
place in the Mikolow (small polish town near Katowice). It was smaller copy
party then last one in Orneta - there was about 60 Atari 8bit users and it
was shorter then one day (about 22 hours).
There was only two competitions for 8bits. Here are the results:
- music competition
- Greg/Taquart
- X-Ray/Slight
- Samurai/Taquart
Presented 20 works.
- gfx competition
- "Face 2" by Dracon/USG
- "Grass" by Grass
- "Fiat" by Kaczor/Tight
Presented 23 works.
As about the demo competition, it wasn't organized because there were
presented only 3 demos and organizers required 5 to make compo. Presented
demos:
- "Ass Kicker" by Shadows (trackmo). Not finished, not distributed. But it
was realy great! It was generally coded by Konop/Shadows and he made big
piece of good work. Effects I remember:
- zoom rotator
- stretch rotator
- Gourand's cube shading effect (very impressive)
- first real textured vector cube (also zooming textures)
- Wolfenstein 3D effect! (totally killing)
That's all I think. It was rather short, but great demo. Shadows are back (as
one of the best polish groups)!
- "Timeless" by Bit Busters. Few part demo. Looked nice, had some
interesting effects, but something went wrong and it was stopped. Not
distributed.
- "Delirium Tremens" by Quasimodos. File demo coded by Kroger. Some cool
effect and well designed. The only demo I got from Mikolow.
Next copy party has been already introducted. It will be in Orneta at the
begin of August '96 (on the 2th to 4th, I think).
