Schematic of a small MIDI interface for the C64

I found these documents somewhere on an FTP site and thought this
might be of interest to any of you who want to build a small MIDI
interface for the XL/XE. I think it should be fairly simple to
adapt it for the XL/XE's cartridge port. The chip will then be
located at $D500...

From Brent Buescher I got the following suggestion:


 

It may be possible to adapt parts of the schematic you have for the
C64 MIDI interface to add MIDI to a GUMBY upgrade, since the extra
POKEY has an unused serial port.
