Yeah, you probably heard of this game before, it happens to be Doom's father. Released in 1992 as a shareware game for the PC. It was at that time the smoothest and fastest 3D of its kind, the 'Doom' kind. This version is designed by the same company, but it has changed... better than ever! It had texture maps just like Doom, now those texture maps have TRIPLE the resolution of the PC version! No, i mean EVERYTHING has triple the resolution! It's like this game has been "cleaned" and totally "pumped with steroids"! It still looks like cartoons, but it's how it was meant to be. When you start, you notice as you play in the beginning in level 1 the BIG difference between this and the PC version! The characters on the PC version look like they're made of Legos compared to this. The whole game has been retouched, cleaner and sharper graphics, new sound effects and new weapons! Only one flaw, the characters are 2D sprites just like Doom, but this version's sprites have only one direction, the front facing you. Doom had 8 directions so that you can see them from behind and on their sides. So now when the characters come running and turning towards you, they look like they're sidewalking, always facing you, can't see them in any other angle (sprites). You'd have to be observant to notice though. But that does not take away the fun from this game of carnage at all. I remenber how addicted i was to shooting Nazis and finding treasures and keys back then! :) This version has 30 levels (most of them from the PC). If you look around enough, you'll find the new weapons, a flame thrower and a rocket launcher! You might be thinking "this game is old, why should i buy it?", well some games don't matter how old they are, they're addicting and fun forever, this is one of those games. Don't forget that this one is a TOTAL remake of the classic! With all honesty, it's an excellent game.
