Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story

Virgin/Atari Action/Fighting Now

Game Description

Dragon is an action/fighting game for the Jaguar. You can either play through several levels of play in an action format or play the game in a one on one fighting format. This game can be played as either a one or two player game. The game follows the format of the movie as you go through the different levels of play fighting the various enemies similar to the way it went through the movie.

Graphics

The graphics in Dragon are one of the games higher points. The character look OK, but could have used a bit more detail. The backround graphics are sharp and fairly impressive as are most of the foreground graphics with the exception of the characters. Still the graphics despite being fairly sharp don't even nick the surface of the Jaguar capabilities, but still the graphics are not bad.

Sound

The game contains music throughout it and the music is pretty decent, as the opening music is appropriate for this game and the rest of its very decent, though once again take little advantage of the systems abilities here. The effects are OK in Dragon, fairly basic sounds during combat, nothing amazing, more of what would be expected here. In a whole not bad, but could have been better.

Gameplay

One of the first drawbacks you find here is the lack of any real special moves which should have been added for this type of game. The only thing anywhere in the vicenity of that is the fact in certain segments of the game you can pick up special weapons. Basically you can activiate the basic jump kicks and all, but little else. The play itself is OK, still could have used some improvements in some areas, but not terrible. All in all this game certainly needed some work here.

Overall

Well, Dragon is just not one of the better Jaguar games. Takes almost no advantage of the Jaguar's capabilities and lacks a vital characterisitic in spiceing up these types of games; special moves. Nothing very thrilling here. I would avoid this one unless you can find it very cheap and like these types of games or already have most of the Jaguar games and are looking to add to the collection and have little other choices. Simply not a good showcase of the Jaguar capabilites, but if you like these types games and have the others in this genre, then you may give it a look but otherwise this is probably not for you.
