Fever Pitch Soccer

Atari/Distinctive Sports Now

Game Description

Fever Pitch Soccer was the second game to touch down on the Jaguar and the first effort that Atari themselves released for this genre. Fever Pitch Soccer contains a variety of teams from a wealth of countries, amounting to over 50 in all. This game allows you to take advantage of a wealth of the normal soccer moves and you are even can gain certain players star status by achieving a certain level during the game. That allows for a variety of special things your players can do, for example you can gain a "super shot" which goes much faster then the normal shot. Fever Pitch also allows for a wealth of options, including if you want fouls and if you want to play an exhibition game or a tourny.

Graphics

The in game graphics are fairly basic overhead graphics, the character are fairly small (though not nearly as small as in some games), though the characters have a very fair amount of detail when you take into account of their size. Fever Pitch has some small foul and goal celebrations, which are pretty good. Fever Pitch's graphics are far from revolutionary, but not bad either. Very adequate for this game.

Sound

This game opens with pretty good title screen music. Fever Pitch contains no in-game music, but fairly consistant crowd noise which is of good quality. The basic sounds and noises that you would expect in a soccer game are here, and are also pretty good. Fever Pitch does pretty well in all here, not amazing but certainly fine for a soccer game.

Gameplay

Fever Pitch plays very well, the gameplay is very fast and the extra speed adds to the game. Passing and shooting are very executable, no problems here. The fouls are not too persistent in this game, you generally have to be real cheap to receive a card. The game plays quite nicely amd is the largest reason why I really enjoyed Fever Pitch Soccer.

Overall

Fever Pitch is not real flashy in the graphics or sound department, but the game plays well which is why in my opinion this game is a success. The game is fast and fun, and the tourny spices up this game even more so. If you are looking for a sports game, and you are looking for one that is quite a bit of fun, though do not mind not having the best graphics on earth in it, Fever Pitch is worth a long look. I certainly enjoyed this game immensely!
