Flashback
Game Description
7 huge worlds, mind-boggling puzzles, awesome animation, captivating
gameplay, many items to manipulate, awesome cinema's.... hey, it sounds like
Flashback for the Atari Jaguar!
Graphics
First off, animation is stunning. A smooth rotoscoped 24 fps make for an
incredible graphic extravaganza. Though, if you think the movement is good,
check out the cinema's! They have fit an enormous amount of real-time movies
into this cart. It's worth playing forever just to see the next cinema.
These little movies enhance the game tremendously and look great.
Backgrounds are nice, though some lack in color and detail. I wish they used
more of the Jaguar's advantages on this game, but it looks great none-the-less.
Sound
FX are great, water dripping, gun fire, grunts, foot-steps and more add to
the game's realistic stealth. There is usually music in the cinema's, but
while playing the game tunes only pop up every once and a while. While
confronting bad guys some fast paced tunes flow, but nothing more.
Gameplay
Gameplay is the real substance that makes Flashback such an exilerating
experience. You have to search, fight, do jobs, unravel mysteries and so
much more. 7 worlds may not sound like a lot, but they are huge an extremely
difficult to conquer. Flashback is awesome.
Overall
64-bit Flashback only looks and sounds a little bit better then the 16-bit
version, but at least the game is huge in playability. If you already have
another version, then skip it, but if don't own a version, and can get it
for under $60, then take my word for it and give the game a whirl. Flashback
is an amazing experience.
