Subject: Childhood video game stories

When I was young, all the kids on the block had Atari 2600.  Same was true at
school.  They would all trade games and talk about them for hours.  I had no
system and asked repeately for one for Christmas.  Well, Christmas rolled
around and under the tree was a box about the size of a video game system.  I
eagerly opened it, even though it was a joint gift for my brother and me.
 Was I shocked when I opened it and found an Odyssey II.  What the heck is
this?  It's not what I asked for?  Knowing that I should be grateful to get
anything (my father worked at a steel mill and would get laid off
periodically).  So I thanked them and set up my system.  While I didn't have
all the hot games my friends had, I learned to love my Odyssey II.  I later
used my paper route money to buy new games.  Great games like KC Munkin (what
fun to make nearly impossible mazes), Pick Axe Pete and my favorite, Quest
for the Rings.  This game was as close as you could get to a video game
version of Dungeon & Dragons (the other way I wasted my youth).  My friends
and I even started a club called the Odyssey Committee.  Proof that you can't
judge a book by its cover.
