Alien Vs. Predator - REVIEW

Once the cart loads, you're faced with the title image depicting the Predator and Alien in a face-off. You have the opportunity to assume three characters: A Colonial Marine, the Alien, or Predator. Each has their different 'mission' objectives. Personally, I found the Marine character a bit easier to master than the others, and suggest those just starting out might want to try AVP this way to get the hang of it.

Once you select the character, you're thrown into the simulation. There is no music during game play, just environmental sound effects. Other sound effects are thrown in for good measure and are realistically sampled - Alien screams, gunfire, explosions, et al.

Your screen is that of first-person perspective in all characters, thus allowing for the element of surprise during play. I found that turning off all the lights, and cranking the stereo volume was the best atmosphere in which to get the full-effect of this game. In all characters, you find yourself immersed in the game, and even feel the imminent threat of attack.

Rebellion did their homework on this one, allowing the player not only to play the game, but to live it as well. Graphics are crisp and life-like, playability abounds, and game control although a tad 'soft' when playing the Marine character is overall, acceptable.
