Short description

The ISTEC Interface improves the compatibility of the RS232-port with ISTEC PABX-systems 1003 and 1008 as well as the adaptation of the RS422 interface signals of the MAC to the RS232 port of the ISTEC-PABX systems.
All hardware versions of the systems are supported.
The maximum range of the RS232-port of an ISTEC-PABX depends upon to the used type of cable, environment, installation type and computer and is limited to approx. 10 meters.
This range can be strongly reduced however in case of use of ISTEC system with a galvanically decoupled interface (starting from HW 3,0) and laptop or PC with an electrically weak port or, in worst case, there is no communication at all.
The ' ISTEC Interface for MAC and Laptop ' requires its own voltage supply. In addition a 9V-Batterie or an accu can be inserted into the housing or an external plug power pack can be used. Maximum requirements of electric current is approx. 25mA.
A green LED displays the ready status of the interface after switching on of the external or internal voltage supply.

PC
For the operation of the interface with a PC optionally a RS232 extension cord 9-pole is needed. Its length should not exceed 5m.
The ISTEC-PABX will be connected with the at the PABX included PC-conecting cord at the 'ISTEC' named 9-pole port of the interface.

MAC
For the operation of the interface with a MAC an adapter cable is needed (SUB-D to Mini-DIN). This cable is offered separately as ' MAC cable for Istec-interface'.
The ISTEC-system is attached to the with the PABX included 'PC connector cord' to the 'ISTEC' named 9pole port for the interface. Over the ' MAC cable for Istec-interface' the MAC is now attached to the with 'computer' named 9pole port.
