How to build Virtual 2600 from source code ------------------------------------------ V2600 now uses the GNU autoconf configuration utilities to simplify configuration. You do not need the autoconf package yourself! For audio you will need the Network Audio System package. (Pointed to on the home page). For X11 ======= 1. Make sure you have the Athena and (optionally FWF) widget sets. The FWF set is necessary to get menus etc. 2. run ./configure in the source directory. Configure is an automatic script that attempts to set up everything, there is no need (in theory) for any manual intervention. So if configure fails on your machine, and it looks like its my fault I really want to know about it. If you want to alter the default compiler flags 3. Type make. DO NOT RUN v2600 YET. Add the file V2600 to your Xt search path as pointed to by the environment variable XAPPLRESDIR. For example you might add the line: export XAPPLRESDIR=/home/alex/lib/X11/app-defaults to your .bash_profile if you use bash as your shell. For SVGALib =========== 1. ./configure --with-svgalib 2. make 3. Switch to root to run the binary, or follow the instructions in README.linux to install properly. For DOS ======= Not fully intergrated yet, get Dan Boris' port! Alex Hornby 28.8.1996
