››AtariLab Science Series›-----------------------›› Atari has announced a science series, using several add-on modules that will plug into the AtariLab Interface. The interface plugs into the joystick port so it won't be taking up space on the daisy chain. Each module comes with its own programs and instruments for the particular experiments involved, and the documentation even includes ways to use the modules with your own BASIC programs. The AtariLab Starter Set has a suggested retail of $89.95 and includes the interface, cartridge for use with temperature instruments, temperature sensor, thermometer and of course the instruction manual.›› Other modules include the Timekeeper, which acts as a stopwatch with a timer accurate to 1/60th of a second, the Light Module, which includes a light sensor to measure absorption rates, light intensity, and reflection. There is also the Biofeedback Module that is used to help you relax while measuring skin moisture, temperature and pulse rate. It is very similar to Relax by Synapse Software. The Mechanics Module lets the user perform experiments like surveying with an angle sensor, studying projectile motion and pendulum action. The final module announced is the Lie Detector, which does just what its title says.›› Each module has a list price of around $50.00, and additional modules will be introduced and aimed at the 4th to 12th grade student.›› This article was written using information from Lee Pappas' article "The New Atari Peripherals", from Analog Computing Magazine issue no.13, September/October 1983.›› This file written by Don Rogers.››
