››FROB-ING FOR FUN››› A software/hardware package for the Apple ][ allows you to create cartridges for the Atari 2600 (VCS).› The hardware portion consists of a card that plugs into the apple which also has a ribbon connector that leads from the card to the cartridge port of the 2600.› The software portion is in three parts and is on disk. The first part is called Frob-MON, essentially a monitor/debugger that lets you examine and edit the code you have written. The second part, called the Explorer, lets you tinker around with the audio and graphics capabilities of the 2600. The third part is a set of disk I/O routines for program storage on the Apple drives.› This little hardware/ software combo has a list price of $495. Frobco also offers an adapter to be used with the Frob-26, called the Frob-52, which allows you to do the same thing with the Atari 5200. The Frob-52 has a retail of $195.››› This article originally appeared in the Technocracy column of the July issue of JoyStik magazine.››File by: Don Rogers.››Coming soon: A review of the PGP-1 Cartridge Editor for the Atari 2600.››
