The OPTION key should be held down until the first sounds of the } program loading are heard. It may then be released. The SpeedCalc Screen } The top line of the SpeedCalc screen is the command line. This is where SpeedCalc displ}ays messages and asks you questions. The next three lines (screen lines 2-4) are the }input buffer area. This is the work area where you enter and edit data. The input buffer also displays } the data contained in the current cell (where the spreadsheet cursor is currently located). The cursor !} symbol in the work area is a left-pointing arrow. Once you begin "} - SpeedCalc, 1 - entering data into the input buffer area, most SpeedCalc commands are deact#}ivated until you press RETURN to enter the data into the worksheet. The lower 19 scre$}en lines are your window into the spreadsheet. By scrolling the screen back and forth with the %} cursor, you can move the display window to any part of the spreadsheet. SpeedCalc&}'s worksheet consists of 5O vertical columns labeled with double letters (AA, AB ... BX) and 1OO horizont'}al rows numbered from 1-1OO. The rectangle where a row and column intersect is called a cell. (} Moving the Cursor Your current position in the spreadsheet is)} shown by the highlighted cursor. The simplest way to move around the sheet is with the cursor keys. *}Press CONTROL and the arrow keys to move left, right, up, and down. Another way to mov+}e the cursor is with CONTROL-H. Press CONTROL-H once to "home" the cursor to the upper-left cell on the ,} screen. Press CONTROL-H twice in succession to move the cursor to cell AA1, the home position for the entire sh-}eet. SpeedCalc also has a GOTO command for moving the cursor over long distances. To in.}voke the GOTO command, press CONTROL-G and the command line at the top of the screen will display "GOTO:" /} followed by a cursor. Then you simply enter the location of the cell you wish to go to and press RETU0}RN. SpeedCalc will instantly take you there. Three Types of Data 1} There are three different types of data which may be entered in SpeedCalc: numbers, text, and f2}ormulas. Numeric data is straightforward. Whenever you enter only numbers into a cell3} and press RETURN, an "N" appears in the upper right corner of the screen showing that SpeedCalc recognizes that 4} you have just entered numeric data. The largest numbers that may be entered should be no longer than 36 di5}gits. Text data is any data that contains alphabetic characters. The letter "T" will ap6}pear in the upper right corner to show that text data has just been entered. One interesting note about 7} SpeedCalc is that even though a cell may not be large enough to display all the characters you type, they 8}will still be in that cell whenever you move the cursor to it. The entire text will be displayed in the 9}input buffer area. Formula data is a mathematical expression or formula. All :} - SpeedCalc, 2 - formulas must begin with an equal sign (;}=). When RETURN is pressed, the letter "F" will be displayed just as the "N" was for numeric data and th<}e "T" was for text data. Formulas must refer to cells which contain data or the res=}ult will be *ERROR*. This is nothing to fear, however, and work may continue normally if such a thing occurs. >} How Formulas Work: Mathematical Operators These symbols can be used as?} operators in a formula: Operator Function + @} addition - subtraction * multiplicatioA}n / division ^ exponentiation B} = equality One factor that affects formulas is precedence, or the orderC} in which mathematical operations are performed. In SpeedCalc, formula operators have the same precedD}ence as in ordinary math. The first operators to be evaluated are those enclosed in paE}rentheses. Where one set of parentheses encloses another, the expression in the innermost set is evaluated fiF}rst. The next operators to be evaluated are exponents. Multiplication and division have equal prG}ecedence (whichever comes first from left to right). Addition and subtraction also have equal precedence. H} One example of precedence is the expression: 5*(8+3*-2)^2-1O/2 SpeI}edCalc would evaluate this as 15. Here is a step-by-step explanation of how 15 was arrived at: J} 1. Since (8+3*-2)^2 is an exponentiation, it must be figured first, but the value contained in tK}he parentheses must be figured before the square (^2) takes place. 2. (8+3L}*-2) would equal 2. The order of precedence tells us that 3 must be multiplied times -2 before the M} 8 is added. 3*-2 is equal to -6; then 8 added to -6 equals 2. 3. Now the 2 obtN}ained inside the parentheses is squared. The result is 4. 4. The equation now has actuaO}lly become 5*4-1O/2 and the precedence order tells us that we must multiply 5 times 4 and alsP}o divide 1O by 2. 5. The equation now has become 2O-5 and that is equal to 15. Q} Functions - SpeedR}Calc, 3 - Formulas may also include any of the functions listed here: @ABS}S() absolute value @AVE() average of a block of cells @EXP() T} natural exponent @INT() integer @LOG() nU}atural logarithm @RND() round to nearest integer @SGN() sign V} @SQR() square root @SUM() sum of a blW}ock of cells PI value of pi (3.14159265) All the functions exX}cept PI begin with @ (SHIFT-8) and are followed by parentheses. The parentheses of a function may Y}contain a number or a formula. Both the @AVE() and @SUM() functions act on a block of Z} cells. An example might be @AVE(AA1:AD2O). This function would average the contents of the cells from AA1[} to AD2O. AN ERROR WILL RESULT IF ANY CELL IN THE BLOCK IS BLANK OR CONTAINS TEXT DATA. \} Editing Editing means changing the contents of some of the cells]} in the spreadsheet. The simplest way to do this is to move the cursor to the old cell and begin ty^}ping new data. When you press RETURN the old data will be erased and the new data will be inserted_} in its place. To erase the contents of a cell, position the cursor over that cell and press CONTROL-K (kill ce`}ll). To erase the entire spreadsheet, press SHIFT-CLEAR. SpeedCalc will ask if you are sure before doia}ng this. Sometimes only a portion of a cell may need to be changed. In these cases, theb} Edit Mode is useful. To enter the Edit Mode, press CONTROL-E. New data can be inserted simply by typing it. c} Pressing RETURN will cancel the Edit Mode and enter the new input. Data may be removed by usingd} the backspace key or by pressing CONTROL-DELETE (which pulls the text back and erases the character the e}cursor was over). Recalculation Recalculation is the vef}ry core of a spreadsheet. Entering a piece of data makes SpeedCalc perform a calculation and put the rg}esult in the cell under the cursor. In most cases, the new data relates to other data in other cells, so the entq}b%DOS SYSb*)DUP SYSbSAUTORUN SYSb#TEXCEL11APICb wMENU bWSREVERSIBASb2DEMO BASbSPEEDCALDOCb TENNIS1 BASbTENNIS1 EXEbWTENNIS2 EXEb TENNIS2 BASb>TENNIS PICbaOTENNIS3 BASbEDIT11 BASire spreadsheet may need to be recalculated immediately. This may be done manually or automaticalr}ly. Manual recalculation is done by pressing CONTROL-N. Automatic recalculations} is toggled on and off by pressing - SpeedCalc, 4 -t} CONTROL-R. If you are not sure whether you are in automatic recalculation or not, press OPTIONu}-CONTROL-R to find out. Automatic recalculation can be fun to watch on a large sprev}adsheet. Every time a new change is made, new results appear everywhere on the screen. However, the more data thew} spreadsheet contains, the longer it takes to update the entire sheet. For this reason, you may wish x}to turn off the automatic recalculation most of the time and simply use the manual method whenever you y} need to view the results. Also, if you are moving sections of your spreadsheet around you will want automaz}tic recalculation turned off. One further note about recalculation. Since SpeedCal{}c starts its recalculations at the upper left and proceeds toward the lower right, formulas that might |}be recalculated before cells that they refer to may not give accurate results. For this reason, r}}ecalculation should be done two or three times in a large spreadsheet. ~} Formatting The default format for numeric data is flush right with rounding to} two decimal places. Text and formulas are also displayed flush right. Data within} cells may be formatted to be flush left, centered, or flush right by using the CONTROL-F command. A} global version of this command will change every cell in the entire sheet to a desired format. } This is done by pressing OPTION-CONTROL-F. Decimal places may also be changed. CONTRO}L-. (CONTROL and the period) accomplishes this. You will be asked for a number of decimal places from O-}15. The width of cells may be changed by pressing CONTROL-W. You must respond with} a number from 4-36. This command has a global version of OPTION-CONTROL-W which changes the width of } every cell in the spreadsheet. The background and text colors may also be changed easily. } CONTROL-B cycles forward through various background colors and OPTION-CONTROL-B reverses the sequence. CO}NTROL-T cycles through various text colors and OPTION-CONTROL-T reverses that sequence. } Macro Editing You may sometimes decide to move entire segments of your } spreadsheet around for printing purposes or to add more data. There are two ways to do this: verbatim or re}lative. A verbatim move or copy will take a defined block of cells } - SpeedCalc, 5 - and copy them to another area exactly as they first appe}ared; no cell names will be changed. A relative move or copy will take a defined block of cells and c}opy them to another area and adjust the cell names to reflect the move. An example of a v}erbatim move would be if you wanted to move the contents of cell AA2 to AB2. Suppose AA2 contained the } formula =AA1*5. That same formula would appear in AB2 after the move with a verbatim transfer. A relativ}e transfer would have adjusted the new formula to be =AB1*5. To copy a block of cells int}o a different without disturbing the original cells, use CONTROL-C. Move the cursor to the upper-}left of the block you want to copy and press CONTROL-C. Then move the cursor to the lower right of the block} and press RETURN. Then, SpeedCalc will prompt you to move the cursor to the place where you want to} move this block of cells. This will be the upper-left position. Once the cursor is there, press R}ETURN again. A related command is CONTROL-M for Move. It works the same as the Copy com}mand, but replaces the original cells with blanks. This is a good command for making space for additional data i}n the middle of your sheet. The relative forms of these two commands are} OPTION-CONTROL-C and OPTION-CONTROL-M. With relative Copy or Move, the new cells will be adjusted fo}r their cell names. Disk Commands There are three dis}k commands. CONTROL-D gives you a disk directory of all the files on the disk. CONTROL-L allows you to } load the data of a spreadsheet. CONTROL-S allows you to save the data of a spreadsheet you have been working on}. Note that with the Load and Save commands, "D:" must be typed (without the quotes) before the fi}lename. Printing You may print to the screen (E:)}, the printer (P:), or a disk (D:). Printing to a disk is not the same as saving to a disk. The d}ata printed to a disk may be loaded by a word processor and used in a report or some other document. Howeve}r, word processors cannot load a SpeedCalc file that has been saved to disk. T}o print to the printer, move the cursor to the bottom left block of the cells you wish to print and press CONTROL}-P. Enter the device and press RETURN. Then, move the cursor to the top left cell of the block }you wish to print and press RETURN. Either the entire spreadsheet or only a section may be printed in t}his manner. - SpeedCalc, 6 - } } - SpeedCalc, 7 - >?(=DB*** ӱ *** g +@76-F:A`,%AV$F:!}Aa,%@C@UAYg@eY-@@1(@C-@@!}Y(@-@@3(@E-@@_(@ wimbledon q-!}@@(@Z-@@-(@ WRITTEN BY?-@@Z(@ BER!}ND KAHLE #]-@@1(@C-@@](@ (?-@@"!}-(@ loading...?AY@4-..@@ D:TENNIS1.EXE2:-A6A$)@*!}6A : 7:-AA $)@*6A : <:-A!AY$)@*6A!} : A @ A AF..@@ D:TENNIS2.EXEK226-?:A!<@<@<B!}<B,P@A U% D:TENNIS2.BAS D:TENNIS1.BAS A!<@<@<B c ApD:SREVERSI.BASA 3-AA%-F:,6+/ 3 &(>:A%,AY&>>6wr>20wr>200(0wr>20>6%}hhh hhBhEhDhIhH Vԩ`pw'xppX1pp pppX1>>6$)hhhhh̽xLQ-)% | x t̘)}L'PPLPPȰRiR ̘(LXP̘LhPR̘L|PPiPLPP2QTiT)} $̘(LP-̘LPT6̘LP8PP`h ,hhLZhh̽x \ XTL)}QHPF@i@̘ LCQ̘LSQ@@8HHLQHP@i@̘ LQ)}̘LQ@@HiHiLP L P` ȑ`)})})})})})})})})} ҩo `)} hQ 9IQ)eQ{ bLVr SLVLX)}Q&eQ 1LW "L"WQ L9WQLXQSOLXIMM8I8Qe)}8eQLW8MN SRZҩ @VLWLXyJLXJLXJLX JLX JL)}X JLXZJ8MN L|X L|X L|X L|XL|XL|X$L|X*L|X0L|X6L|X)}ff >I>ss$xppxHlhHqh[ )}L\q[ L\z[ q`hHq[ Lk\[ Lk\[)} q`hIqh[ L\q[ L\z[ q`)}hIq[ L3][ L3][ q`)}hKkWRk)}!!NML^WVL^WҩEҭVL^]2.*&KɌCM)}L^VL^M@L^KɌMQL^VL^1ML^M8No][LL1u)}hMdMeð 2eL_VL_K ɘ$ə.MB9C5L_MB+C'D#L_M)}A@L_MA @?L_8MNppL_p1 ȰVL_ҩ ҩo]L_VL_VL])}hL``)})})}}(}#pd(}(SPd(}(](S]d])}S(p}pdp((}(}#pd(}(SPd(}(]Sd]pP}}x)})})}h#ML d 8o)}KmnLle{ aJL daiLdoKmnVlLcL^LcL^JRL d)})})}h aLeaa)}ɔaL^aL^a@ҢHTH L)})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})})}*}*}*}hJɖemJeЍL*}cu8J閍pepeЍЭM^ LiuN^ L~uKɖ MmKMLu8K閍pMpM8Lo58oLl*}Vnɖ NmnNLHvn8閍pNpNLHvomɖ NmmNLHv8m閍pN8pNLHvoKɖ NmKNLHv8K閍pN*}pNLVhP 9HP)eP{ bLvr SLvL]xP&eP*} 1Lv "LvP LvPL]xPROL^xHMM8H8Pe8eP L:w 8M*}N RSZҩ @VLdwL]xxJLwJLwJLw JLw JLw JLwZ*}J8MN L x L x L x L xL xL x$L x*L x0L x6L x}UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU2?}UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU9UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUl9UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUl2@}9UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUl9UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUl:2A}?2B}2C}2D}2E}2F}2G}2H}2I}2J}2K}2L}2M}2N}00;`0)0HKPDEPGAMEGAMECHANGCSEBBNSEADDEUCTIPINTPINTPOPOSETSETPOSPOSBILTTTPPP6P}NNNNNNNNNNN1N1N1N1N2N1N1N1N1N1N1D6Q} 6R} !"#$%&'6S}()*+,-./012345676T}89:;<=>?@AF +@@@d1B7t6U}@dCAAHF6-6-@'6-@36-@?6-@K6-@W6-@c6-@6V}o6-@{6-@ 6-@6-@6-@6-@6-@6-@6-@6-@6W}'6-@6-@'6-@ A`BByAR'BDbAP3BBEB@ @uWB6X}IAHa+@mAY@@dB7t@d m%6-F:@,%AV$F:@,7B0A6Y}CB(TUB0 AaARmABJ@->(!
