ZORRO SOLUTION Frank Walters/T.A.C.O. Bell BBS This describes the sequence of actions required to complete 'Zorro' by Datasoft. The techniques must be supplied by the players. THE WELL: The opening screen shows the princess being abducted. Don't chase the evildoer, you can't catch him. Instead, climb the vine, jump left onto the well and then from the top of the ladder, jump right to obtain the handkerchief dropped by the princess on the crank of the well. Then repeat the climb/jump and descend the ladder into the well. Stand on the right edge of the ledge at the bottom of the ladder and push the stick FWD to make Zorro jump a few times, then move the stick until it hits the FWD/R diagonal and hold it there as he jumps right onto the ball and bounces up and climbs the ladder. Move right to the top of the bump on the center ledge and jump FWD/R to catch the bar. Positioned at the left side of the bar, above the far right ball, pull BACK on the stick to drop directly on the ball. As he is falling, position the stick FWD/R diagonal so he bounces off the ball onto the lower right ledge. Exit right. WEIGHTS & PULLEYS: Descend the ladder at the lower left of the screen to the trampoline screen. Work your way zig-zag down the left side platforms to the bottom. At the lower right side is a trampoline. Stand on it and push FWD and jump several times, then FWD/R to jump up on the platform with the FLOWER POT. Push the button to pick up the FLOWER POT. Move to the lower left of screen and bouncing on the trampolines until you catch the bar above, work your way zig-zag back up to the upper right and bounce back to the Weights & pulleys screen. Climb up to the yellow ball and touch it. It will roll onto the platform and descend halfway, roll to the right to another platform. Stand on the left hand moving platform while holding the FLOWER POT until it descends all the way to the bottom of the screen, causing the ball to raise to the top and roll to the next platform on the right and descending, pulling the weight at the far right part way up. Drop the pot off the platform, allowing it to raise halfway up and exit to the left. CROSSING THE WELL: Stand on left edge of platform and push FWD/L diagonal and RELEASE stick. Zorro should jump onto left ball and bounce up and down. When the bouncing subsides a little (not too high), push LEFT and release, causing him to jump left to the middle ball. If he lands on the right or right/center part of ball, pull BACK until he stops bouncing, and tap the stick LEFT so he steps carefully to the left side of the center ball. Push FWD until he bounces as high as possible and push LEFT and RELEASE stick. He should be bouncing on left ball. Repeat the process of positioning him on the center or left side of ball and press FWD until he is at the highest bounce and press FWD/Left diagonal back to the ladder. Climb out of well. THE BOTTLE: Walk out of the well and right until the screen with the BOTTLE on the roof and pick up the BLACK KEY with the Fire Button. Stand on the center of the couch and push FWD until he bounces as high as possible then FWD/R to the middle roof on the right. Climb down the ladder and go right to the graveyard. Climb up the ladders to the roof and jump across the gaps to the arches, move to the left edge of the arches and FWD/L to jump across to the next screen. Repeat the jumping across the top to the door which will unlock, causing the key to re-appear at the bottom of the screen. Jump across the last space to the BOTTLE and push the FIRE to get the bottle. Walk right off the roof to drop on the couch and finally walk left off the screen. Continue left until you come to the Saloon and stand at the far right, just below the sitting man. Drop the BOTTLE and he should pick it up and drink and fall asleep. Get on his stomach and push FWD and bounce to jump up and left, climb to the top floor and wait for a guard. Fight the guard but try not to kill him. Force him backwards to the left so he falls off the platform and on to the hanging hook. This will cause the pulley to raise up. You can jump down to the ground and descend the ladder and get the SADDLE or whatever the first prize is??? This is accessible because of your previous actions causing the ball to raise the weight out of the way in the Weights & Pulleys room. Climb the ladder to exit. BRANDING IRON: Move right to the screen with the KEY and couch. There should be a BRANDING IRON on the roof now. Get the key, bounce the couch and repeat the process of going right, climbing the building, jumping across to the left to get the Branding Iron. Come down to the ground floor, go left to the screen with the Palm Tree, climb the tree and jump LEFT from the top. This brings you to the screen with the Bull. Work your way across the top and down to the center bottom screen. Stand on the fireplace and drop the branding iron. Move left to the bellows and push FWD to bounce on it until the fire swells up and causes the branding iron to get hot. Pick up the IRON and move right to brand the bull. He will move off the screen. Climb up and work over to the right side of the screen and drop down on the right side of the barrier next to the HORSESHOE. Pick up the HORSESHOE with the FIRE button. This is prize number two. BELLS AND BUGLE: Repeat the KEY trick, get the two bells and drop them in the arches at the top of the building next to the graveyard, you will see a hole and a ladder at the grave. Don't descend yet. Repeat the key trick one more time and take the BUGLE from the same place you got the BOTTLE, BRANDING IRON and 2 BELLS. Go down and left to the screen with the teeter/totter near the right side and stand on the LEFT side of the teeter/totter and blow the bugle with the FIRE button. A guard will jump down and bounce you up to the pole sticking out of the building. Jump LEFT onto the second floor, work your way up to the top and get the BOOT. This is the THIRD PRIZE. THE CAVERNS UNDERGROUND: You must work your way to the right to the graveyard and descend the ladder to the underground caverns. You should enter on the upper right of the first screen and the GOLD will be at the left side, just above center. Using the ladders, platforms, bars, etc. you must work your way over to pick up the gold and exit left to room 2. Room 2 starts at left side, just above center screen and gold is at right bottom. Room 3 starts at upper right corner and gold is at right edge, just below center screen. Room 4 starts at left screen, just above center and exits at upper right, moving right off screen. Room 5 starts at upper left corner and exits to the right at lower right corner. Room 6 starts at lower left corner and exits on the platform just above the entrance, to the left. Room 7 starts at the right side, just below center. You must work over to the left side, just above center to get the gold, then exit TEMPORARILY to the left and you will be inside the WELL on the upper right ledge. Push the rocks off the ledge and then exit back the way you came in. Work over to the upper right corner and exit up the ladder, but BE CAREFUL NOT TO COME ALL THE WAY UP THE LADDER. THE FORT: You will come up the ladder INSIDE the fortress/prison where the princess is being held captive. The guards on the right side will be shooting across from right to left in sequence. WAIT until the guard on the bottom shoots, then climb up and move left past the cells, pressing the button to open each cell as you pass, climb the ladder part way. Then time your move so the middle guard shoots, you can run right on the middle platform, releasing the prisoners and climbing up to the third level. Once the prisoners are all released, they will form a human ladder at the wall on the left side of the screen. You must jump down to the bottom level and climb up the backs of the prisoners to the left. The next screen you are on the center right side and must work your way down to the bottom left without getting shot or engaged in swordplay, it will slow you down. If you get shot, you will wind up in the maze of underground caverns and have to find your way out again. Once you get across this screen to the left, you will find the screen with the princess up in the tower. Climb up the building but DO NOT climb all the way up the ladder to the princess. Just go part way up until you give the HANDKERCHIEF to the Princess and she starts waving it. If you go all the way up, she will slap you off and you will lose a life. THE ROSE: Jump off the left side of the building, across the moat. Go left to the screen with the Black KEY and repeat the process of getting the ROSE on the roof. Armed with the rose, go left to the WELL and descend. FWD/R from the ledge to the center ladder. FWD/R from the top right of center platform to the BAR. Right on the bar to the UPPER RIGHT exit. This brings you to room 7 of the Caverns, with the flashing SADDLE, BOOT and HORSESHOE at the upper right corner. Move to that corner and exit up the ladder to the FORT again. The prisoners are still forming the human ladder at the left. Go left, then left and down to lower left of next screen, back to Princess screen. Climb all the way up the tower and give the Rose to the Princess. You have won the game! This may not be the solution that gains the most points but it solves the problem of where to go to rescue the princess. Notice you never cross the drawbridge when it is down. Remember you are likely to get lost in the 7 caverns, so at least the first time, pick up the gold in each room and exit at the point where the gold is located. If you get shot, you will have to figure out a way to exit the caverns. There are 3 exits. From room 1, the exit is at the left side of screen, just above center screen, exit left (no ladder). This takes you to the lower right side inside the WELL. Screen 7 has the flashing prizes at the upper right corner, that exit up the ladder takes you to the FORT. Also from screen 7, if you exit from the left side of screen, just above center, you will appear in the upper right side, inside the WELL. You might want to diagram the caverns in sequence the first time through them. Good Luck.
