It works on all Atari 8-bit computers ,!}with at least 16k and 1 disk drive. MyCopyR! can copy disks up to fifty percent faster than most co,"}nventional copiers. It can utilize the memory upgrades of 800XL and 1200XL computers, and use the extra 64k ,#} of the 130XE computer. To use MyCopyR!, boot the disk in the normal way. Atari XL and XE users,$} need not hold down the OPTION key to disable BASIC. Do not boot with cartridges or TRANSLATOR disks. ,%} MyCopyR! automatically determines the number of disk drives on the system at boot time. If only one drive is ,&} present, then SOURCE and DESTINATION drives are set to drive #1. If two or more drives are present, then ,'}the SOURCE will be set to drive #1, and the DESTINATION to drive #2. Both may be changed by using the "S,(}" and "D" keys for SOURCE and DESTINATION drives respectively. MyCopyR! has the capability of switc,)}hing to the correct density for the disk to be copied. This includes the 1050 ENHANCED DENSITY format. ,*}The "E" key will toggle the ENHANCED DENSITY option between AUTO, OFF and ON. (See note!) ,+} MyCopyR! can also format the DESTINATION disk if required, and to write with or without verify. The "F" key ,,} toggles the FORMAT DESTINATION option between ON and OFF. Write-with Verify is not necessary for day-to,-}-day copying. However, when backing up UNREPLACEABLE software or data, Write-with-Verify should be turne,.}d on. The "W" key toggles Write-with-Verify between ON and OFF. MyCopyR! also has the option of us,/}ing ICD's ULTRASPEED sector SKEW when formatting disks. This allows you to create "FAST DISKS" from "NOR,0}MAL SPEED" disks, or "NORMAL SPEED" disks from "FAST DISKS". The "U" key toggles the ULTRASPEED SKEW bet,1}ween ON and OFF. The "Screen VTOC" shows the density of the SOURCE disk, and the stat,2}us of every sector on the disk as follows: SMALL DOT = Empty Sector (Sector contains no information) LA,3}RGE DOT = Data Sector (Sector contains information) QUESTION MARK = Bad Sector (Unable to read sector) ,4}INVERSE DOT = Bad Write (DESTINATION disk as a problem) Pressing the SELECT key during a read operation skip,5}s the reading of the rest of the SOURCE disk, and writes the current data buffer to the DESTINATION disk.,6} Pressing SELECT while reading an ENHANCED DENSITY only affects the part of the disk being read. If you,7} press SELECT while reading the first part of the disk, the second part will not be affected. Pres,8}sing the OPTION key at any point returns you to the main menu. Pressing the HELP key while reading or writing ,9} will toggle the screen ON or OFF. Pressing CTRL-B at the main menu gives you the option to bo,:}ot a disk. This is a quick way to test a copied disk without having to turn the computer off. Pressing OPTION ,;} will return you to the main menu. MyCopyR! uses the expanded memory of the 130XE compatible ,<}256k upgrades for the XL computer (such as RAMBO XL). If MyCopyR! doesn't work with your upgrade, hold the ,=} INVERSE key down while booting the program to disable the EXTRA MEMORY option. The following table will give yo,>}u an idea of the number of passes it will take to copy disks. +---------------------,?}----+ | 48k | 64k | 128k | 256k | +------+-------------------------+ ,@} |SINGLE| 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | +------+-----+-----+------+------+ ,A} |DOUBLE| 5 | 4 | 2 | 1 | +------+-----+-----+------+------+ ,B} |1050 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 2 | +------+-----+-----+------+------+ MyCopyR! work,C}s best with US Doubler equipped Atari 1050 disk drives. With these drives, MyCopyR! can automatically de,D}termine the correct disk density, and perform High Speed I/O. In addition, they are the only drives capable of ,E} duplicating the special SOURCE disk formats (ULTRASPEED) on the DESTINATION disk. High Speed I/O is capable,F} on most 1050 "HAPPY" drives, but special format copying is not. MyCopyR! is capable of ,G}making MULTI-COPIES of the SOURCE disk. To make a MULTI-COPY, follow these steps: IF THE DI,H}SK CAN BE COPIED IN ONE PASS: 1) Make the first copy in the normal way. 2) When the "COPY COM,I}PLETED" message appears, insert the next DESTINATION disk and press SELECT. ,J} 3) Repeat step 2 for subsequent copies. IF THE DISK CAN'T BE COPIED IN ONE PASS OR ,K}IF THE DISK IS A 1050 ENHANCED DENSITY DISK: 1) Set up for a one drive copy. (SOURCE disk =,L} DESTINATION disk) 2) Insert SOURCE disk and press START. 3) Insert DESTINATION disk and pres,M}s START. 4) When the message "INSERT SOURCE DISK" or "COPY COMPLETED" appears, press SELECT,N}. 5) Insert the next DESTINATION disk and press START. 6) Repeat steps 4 an,O}d 5 for each additional copy. 7) Repeat steps 2 thru 6 until all copies h,P}ave been completed. NOTES! It is highly recommended to let MyCopyR! f,Q}ormat the DESTINATION disk! By doing so, you can be sure that the SOURCE and DESTINATION disks are EXACT,R}LY identical. If the densities of the disks don't match, you will get a "DENSITY MISMATCH" error. ,S} If you have a 1050 drive or compatible drive, but do not have a US Doubler, the only way to copy the ENHA,T}NCED DENSITY disks is to set the ENHANCED DENSITY option to ON. MyCopyR! will still copy SINGLE and DOUB,U}LE density disks, but will attempt to read one of the EXTRA sectors of a 1050 disk (only when SINGLE dens,V}ity is detected) in an effort to determine if the disk is really an ENHANCED DENSITY disk. ,W} The default for the ENHANCED DENSITY option is AUTO, in case you have a US Doubler. Turning the option to OFF w,X}ill disable the ENHANCED DENSITY option and treat all ENHANCED DENSITY disks as SINGLE density (you'll lo,Y}se the information on the extra sectors). DOUBLE density disks are not affected by the ENHANCED DENSITY ,Z}option. ENHANCED DENSITY disks always require a minimum of two passes. MyCopyR! treats these disks as ",[}TWO SINGLE DENSITY" disks. That's all there is to MyCopyR!. I hope you find it a useful addition t,\}o your software library.
