SpartaDOS Menu Utility . ..............m}............ This Menu utility gives all us non-SpartaDOS owners easy access to the contents of disks formatted witn}h SpartaDOS. Sooner or later you will obtain a disk from someone that contains some great public domain programs, but yoo}u find that the disk is formatted in a wierd-looking DOS called SpartaDOS. You try to transfer the programs to friendly op}ld Atari DOS and soon find that it's not as easy as it seems. These DOS's are NOT compatable! This Menu utility will allowq} you to easily transfer "most" files over to Atari Dos 2.5. If you're a novice user or someone like me who's happy with r}good old Atari DOS and neither has the time nor the inclination to learn how to use SpartaDOS, then this menu may well cos}me in handy for you. TRANSERING SpartaDOS FILES TO AN ATARI DOS 2.5 FORMAT .......................... 1. t}Boot the SpartaDOS Menu disk without BASIC (XL/XE users should hold down Option key while turning on the computer). You wiu}ll get a "D1:" prompt after the loading has completed. (Note: If you boot with BASIC you will get a READY prompt. You musv}t then type "DOS" and press Return to get the "D1:" prompt.) 2. Type "MENU" and press Return. The Menu screen will now apw}pear listing the disk's contents along with a command line at the bottom of the screen. Drive 1 | Name | Ext | P | Sizex} | --------|-------|-----|---|------| | MENU | COM | | 7728| --------|-------|-----|---|------| | X32y}D | DOS | | 12890| --------|-------|-----|---|------| | | | | | --------|-------|-----|---|---z}---| ------------------------------- ||Copy|Erase|Rename|Exit| ------------------------------- The Menu {}has several commands, but you will only need to use two of them to transfer program files to Atari DOS 2.5. 3. At this t|}ime insert into drive 1 the SpartaDOS format disk containing the program files you want to transfer to Atari DOS 2.5. Hav}}e a disk already formatted with Atari DOS 2.5 standing by to receive the files (you may place it in drive 2 if you have mo~}re than 1 disk drive). 4. Now press F to highlite the "" command and press Return. The prompt "Which Drive?" will} appear. Type 1 and the contents of the SpartaDOS disk will be listed onto the screen. 5. Press C to highlite the ""} command, and using the up/down arrow keys, move the highlited " " cursor to a position opposite the name of the fi}le you wish to transfer. 6. Now press Return and you will be given the prompt "Dest Drive?". Type in the number of the d}rive in which you'll be placing your formatted DOS 2.5 disk and you'll get the prompt "Dest Path :D2:". Type in the compl}ete Filename.Ext of the file you wish to copy and press Return. Follow additional prompts (if any) to complete the transf}er. Note: If you should change your mind at any time during command selection, simply press the Esc key to abort the who}le process and refresh the Menu screen. Concerning the command line, pressing the Select key will also highlite the vari}ous command options. Pressing the Option key will toggle between the different command lines, but you won't need to use a}ny of these additional commands if you are simply interested in transfering files to Atari DOS. One command you may want} to use sometime is the "" command. Use this command to run a program on the SpartaDOS disk. One command you may wantd>B%DOS SYSB*)DUP SYSBSAUTORUN SYSBUMENU BkMENU DOC
