PC<>Atari Disk Drive serial link communication interface:
1. Introduction
The schematic drawing I propose below is the component view as it could be realized on a ready-printed PCB board (linear copper tracks).
For more details please visit the SIO2PC website here. Only the 1050_2_PC cable must be used, connecting the PC to an Atari floppy disk drive (like the 1050 drive) through the serial port.
Unfortunately, the interface cable can not be a simple passive cable. An active interface module is required. It is based on the MAX232 chip. This component is used to cenvert the RS232 signal from the PC (standard voltage levels are +/- 10 Volts) into Atari-adapted RS232 signals (TTL voltages levels are 0/+5 Volts).
