From: Krzysztof Paizert [paizert@rts.com.pl] Sent: Friday, 17 August, 2001 10:57 To: Nir Dary Subject: TOP DRIVE 1050 Hello Zenon made you a TOP-DRIVE 1050. He also include a description of assembly it in drive. I'll send the module today. Let me know when you got it. ----------------------------------------------- Description of TOP-DRIVE 1050 assembly. - Take out integrated circuit U10 from socket (on disk drive board) - In place of original disk drive's ROM put module TOP-DRIVE 1050 - Blue wire of connector connect with pin on disk drive board. The pin is located near potentiometer TP10 - Yellow wire of connector connect with resistor R66 on disk drive board. - Assemble whole - Turn on disc drive with raised lever (raised lever - this should means a thing that put on/off the head to disk ;-) ) - Turn on computer. The menu of TOP-DRIVE will be reading from disc drive's ROM. - Put disk, press start or select key - During reading, a message 'BOOT ERROR' will apear, but never mind!, that's OK. - To module TOP-DRIVE I gave ram EPROM 27128, because I don't have 2764. In this eprom its two halfs have the same program. -------------- [1.JPG] A - blue B - yellow NOTE: On board you should resolder JP1 to JP7 like on the diagram above. If disk drive has had eprom before, JP1 to JP7 should be ok and you shouldn't do anything with JP1 to JP7. -------------- Module in disk drive 1050 [2.JPG] B - original socket on disk drive's board A - additional socket. You should put this additional socket on pins of TOP-DRIVE module and now module with additional socket put to socket B. Description: Zenon/Dial Translation K.P. ----------------------------------------------- I hope this time you will have working upgrade of disk drive 1050. Regards Krzysiek
