Dan Boris's

Emulator Page

I have always been fascinated by emulators and there are plenty on net to try out. This page contains links to some good emulator resources on the net, and will contain some of the emulators and utilities that I am working on myself.

General Emulator Information

Emu News Service:
This is one of the best emulation news pages I have found. It is updated a couple times a day and always has some of the most current news.

Emu Express
This is one of my favorite overall emulation sites. The news page is updated everyday and usually has mopre in depth news then Emu News Service. There are also links to all the most popular emulators.

Marat Fayzullin's Home Page:
Marat wrote the original Gameboy and Colecovision emulators and also wrote emulators for the MSX, NES and Sega Master System. You will also find source code for his generic 6502 and Z80 emulators on this page. He also has a good 'Emulator Programming How-To' on his page for any aspiring emulator authors out there.

Dave's Video Game Classics:
This is a good place to find up-to-date information on the latest emulators, especially for classic games.

Cloak and Dag-ulator V0.60 (Atari Cloak and Dagger arcade emulator)

NOTE: The current and only version is V0.60, I messed up the version number when I released it. Sorry for the confusion.

Cloak and Dagger was a somewhat obscure arcade game put out Atari in 1983. It was orginially released under the title Agent X, but was re-named to tie it in with the movie "Cloak and Dagger" which features the game supposidly being played on a 5200. The game that you see in the movie is the arcade game wired up to a TV so it looks like it waas running on the 5200. The 5200 version was started, but never finished so there are no home versions of Cloak and Dagger. For more information on this check out the Cloak and Dagger Inside Story.

The current version of the emulator is very close to perfect, with sound support, mostly correct colors, and hi-score saving. You will need a pretty fast machine to run it at full speed with the sound (Sound Blaster or compatible), something better then a P133. I make no applolgies for the speed, it's a pretty advanced machine, 2 6502's running 2.5Mhz, 2 Pokeys and 3 layers of graphics as opposed to 2 in most other arcade games of that time.

I have no plans to do another standalone release of this emulator. I worked with the MAME people to write a MAME driver for Cloak and Dagger so any future updates I do will be to the driver. Look for it in the next version of MAME.
