1979

Atari showed their first two home computers. The Atari 400 was an innovative game machine. Four joystick ports, special graphic & sound chips made the Atari 400 the best game computer at that time. The graphic and sound chip was developed by Jay Miner who later developed the Amiga.
The big brother of the Atari 400 was the Atari 800. The 800 had a real typewriter keyboard and 48 KBytes RAM (which were amazing for that time). An additional cartridge port was only used by a few cartridges. Programs could be saved to cassette or disk.
