Not many emulators for the Atari series and some are so old that they
don't run on the newer models. New emulators are announced very slowly...
latest releases are the two SID emulators, QLem and 2nd Life.
- Apple Macintosh
- MacBongo
Old Mac-software-emulator, you can get it from some PD-libraries.
- Magic Sac (only 64 K-Roms)
- Aladin (only 64 K-Roms)
- Spectre GCR 3.1 (only 128 K-Roms)
It can work with Mac-GCR disks but only runs on ST & TT. Spectre
doesn't support colour modes.
- FalconGCR
Well, it has been announced in 1993. Perhaps you ask Dave Small (Gadgets by
Small) about it (if you can catch him...).
- PC-Emulators
- Atari PC emulator
Announced by Atari but never released.
- PC-Ditto (8088)
First PC-Emulator for the ST. Software-emulation.
- PC-Speed (8088) and Supercharger (8088)
They are both out of date and only suitable for simple
DOS-programs. If you buy one, you shouldn't pay over 75$
or 30 pounds.
- AT-Speed, AT-Speed C16 (80286/8(16) MHz)
- AT-Once 386SX
Good emulation.
- Falcon Speed (80286/16 MHz)
Many games (even simple DOS ones) refused to run, but FS can
run Windows well (there are special Windows-graphic devices). The graphic under DOS is
awful in my eyes: I only get CGA graphic! Manufacturer Hans Sack
has a 486SX of his emulator but doesn't want to publish it.
- SoftPC for Falcon & TT
A software-emulator: Announced, but never released. Available on some
pages in the WWW. Full GEM interface.
- Sinclair-Emulators
- ZX-81 Emulator 2.1 (Download!)
Very good emulation. You get original speed if you have a
16 MHz ST. Good file handling and control dialogues. No
HRG-emulation (High Resolution Graphic).
- Atari-Speccy (Download!; ca. 60 KByte)
Good Spectrum-emulator, last version from 1990. Doesn't support
SNA-Snapshots and is not as compatible as ZX-Sp 2.07.
- ZX-Spectrum Emulator 2.07 (Download!; ca 580 KByte)
Very good emulation. You can configure the Speccy in many ways. It
supports SNA-Snapshots and comes along with many good games like Gyroscope.
- QLem 1.45
Runs on all ST/Falcons. The programer wants more feedback before he's
making a general release so this link leads you to the QLem-homepage.
- QL emulator
Hardware QL emulator.
- SID soundchip emulators
- Flaysid (Falcon only!)
SID emulator with GEM interface.
- Playsid (STE & Falcon only!)
No GEM interface and doesn't play all kind of SID files. Version
1.1 only allow to play SID files with the extension .DAT.
- Others
- God-Boy (Falcon only!)
GameBoy emulator which runs currently only one game: Bubble Bobble.
- C-64 Emulator
Last version from 1987. Sadly, a very poor emulation. Many progs
refused to run. It has difficulties with colour screens. It can't
run on the Falcon (even with Backward). The source code is often
supplied with the programm.
- Apple II emulator (Download!)
Experimental Apple II-emulation. Not very user-friendly.
- CP/M emulator v8.4 (Download!)
- 2nd Life
Tandy TRS-80 Modell 3 emulator. Good emulation, runs completely
under GEM. Last version from October 96.
- X-Former 3.0
Very good Atari XL/XE-emulator. There will be no further development
but the sources are public domain. It doesn't run on the Falcon but maybe
someone makes a patch for it.
- MSX-Emulator (Download!)
According to the manual it can emulate MSX-1, MSX-2 and some Turbo-R
features. But the emulator looks more like a joke than a real emulator...
- BBC-Environment (Acorn BBC)
Only for normal STs (no TT/Falcon!). Limited support for graphics, old and no further development.
- Amiga 1000
A very old emulator which claims to be faster than an Amiga 1000.
According to the manual it needs a ST with 2 disc-drives and a blitter.
FTP-archive SimTel
If one of the links above isn't correct you should visit the emulator-directory
of SimTel.
Hades, Medusa, Falcon030, TT and all STs with an 68030-extension are able
to run the Linux-OS.
