DOOM - REVIEW
The game loads up with a detailed ackground and cheesy music, and a lot of options. Not bad. With 5 difficulty levels, 24 worlds, and 3 play modes, the cart shows potential.
You enter the game with only a small amount of loading time. You'll definitely feel the speed since you cruise the halls mighty quick. Don't worry, you'll need it since there are monsters roaming around in 7 different forms. At least you have 9 weapons to make the blood fling.
The first-person perspective and addictive gameplay is furious. You side-step and backpeddle your way through an assortment of vastly different worlds with not only a high level of fun, but crisp graphics and decent sound-FX.
Graphics are gorgeously texture-mapped to the point of awe. Detailed sprites and some animating backgrounds add to the graphical flare. Sounds are sparse but not bad, although the lack of in-game music dissapoints. Doom doesn't have the FX quality AvP had accomplished.
ID did an excellent job in tranporting the PC to the Jag, with the Jag version having some advantages over the PC. Vibrant colors and tons of fun make Doom a system showcase seller at its best.
