Atari was beginning to have some real success with their Atari computers but the old 400 and 800 were really starting to show some age.The Atari XL line was Atari's newest plan for their computers, It all started with the 1200XL computer, Incompatable with the older 400 and 800's and was not exactly liked, 4 months later the 600 and 800 XL computers came, still not compatable but more so than the 1200 was with a "translator disk" all this was, was the 400/800 OS on a disk that was loaded into RAM so you could use all of your old software! (as long as the coding was nifty neat)
