Hopefully over the next few years with the help of our users we will be able to improve Steem further and get the last few ST programs with problems running as they would have on an STE."

Best Game release of the year

Winner:

Chu Chu Rocket by Reservoir Gods
http://rg.atari.org

"It's a great pleasure to receive this award for "Chu Chu Rocket". We believe in making commercial quality games software for Atari machines, and to achieve this we worked exceptionally hard on this title. It was a year of long late nights of coding, painting graphics and composing music culminating in months of play-testing and debugging. It's good to see that all our hard work has paid off, the response from the Atari community to this production has been nothing short of fantastic.

Although we have been creating games for the Atari since 1994, all our previous releases have been Falcon-only. With "Chu Chu Rocket" we broadened our horizons to support STE machines and later TT, Mega STE and STFM. Creating a title that ran nicely on this range of platforms presented its own series of technical challenges, and we have to thank the many Atarians who gave up their free time to test this game on their machines for us.

The credit for this award is spread amongst so many members of the team; shTHREE for his excellent graphics, MSG for the huge amount of music he composed for this title and Neo for his graphics and his relentless testing and debugging. Also big thanks to the rest of the atari scene for their constant encouragement and enthusiasm, especially those on #atariscne, and also to the magazines and web sites that have given us support.

The feedback for this title has been so positive that we are very motivated to produce new games for Atari machines, so keep your eyes peeled for plenty more productions from RG."

Best Atari supporting company of the year

Winner:

Best Electronics
http://www.best-electronics-ca.com

"First of all, I would like to thank all of the MyAtari participants for taking the time to fill out the survey!

Best Electronics is honoured to be voted Best Atari supporting company of the year.

My passion for Atari came in 1978 when I won an Atari 400 personal computer by filling out the registration form from the purchase of my very first Atari product (2600 for $250+ at Atari employee cost!) through an Atari employee friend at the local Atari Company Store in Sunnyvale.

Best Electronics has been dedicated to supporting the international Atari community for nearly two decades. We are most humbled and gratified by this recognition of our past support. We look forward to continuing to support the international community of Atari users into the future.

In the early days of Atari, Atari set up a nationwide network of Atari Service Centers and Authorized Dealers to support the Atari community. The demand for replacement Atari parts and service was to say the least overwhelming. Atari was unable to meet the increasing demand and thus the birth of Best Electronics 18 years ago. Best Electronics began supplying Atari parts and our own "BEST" improved and enhanced Atari replacement parts direct to Atari Service Centers, Atari Authorized Dealers and Atari end users. I would have never dreamed 18 years ago that Best Electronics would develop into an international business and would continue in the market place long after the demise of Atari Corp.

Over a decade ago, when we expanded our Atari business into the Atari European community, little did I dream that I would be going to Atari trade shows all over Europe. After participating in over 200 Atari and computer shows throughout the world, one question I am asked all of the time at these Atari shows and I still get a big kick out of, is "Do you remember me? I saw you at an Atari computer show some number of years ago." Today, those Atari users are now coming to Atari shows with their kids and pointing out Best Electronics and telling them they bought from Best Electronics when they were kids!

In closing, I wish to express my appreciation for this honor and extend my personal thank you to all that voted for Best Electronics."
